This work proposes an analytic framework to estimate the capacity of the link in an M2M gateway that multiplexes a massive number of machine type communication devices. First, we specify the network architecture for M2M communications. Next, we summarize the characteristics of M2M traffic, from which we extract an area about the problem that has to be resolved in the dimensioning of the link capacity. After that we propose a new method to determine the capacity of the link in an M2M gateway. Via numerical experiment reflecting the realistic environment of M2M traffic, we illustrate the validity of the proposed model.
Statement of problem: Recently there are on an increasing trend of using implants-especially in edentulous mandible of severly alveolar bone recessed. Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the displacement and stress distribution of various mandibular implant-retained overdenture models supported by two implants in interforaminal region under the occlusion scheme load. Material and method: FEA models were made by the 3D scanning of the edentulous mandibular dentiform. The three models were named as Model M1, M2, and M3 accord ing to the position of implants: M1, Lt. incisor area, M2, Canine area, and M3, 1st Premolar area. Inter-implant angulation model was named as M4. Conventional complete denture was named M5 and used as a control group. Ball implant and Gold matrice were used as a retentive anchors. The occlusion type loads were applied horizontally over each tooth. Results: 1. In mandibular implant retained overdenture Canine Protected Occlusion type load resulted in higher levels of stress to the implants and female matrices than other types of loads. 2. The overdenture model M1, with implants in lateral incisor areas resulted in lower stress concentration to the implants and female matrices than other models. 3. In mandibular implant retained overdenture the stresses of the implant and female matrice were lower in mesially inclined implant than these of parallel installed implant. Conclusion: Lateral incisor areas could be the best site for the implants in mandibular implant-retained overdenture. The mandibular implant retained overdenture models mentioned above showed to the lowest stress to the implants and female matrices.
Mock-up model can be applied to measure accurate performance data but difficult to apply the variables in experiment. There can be a slight experiment errors in Scale model, but various parameters can be applied for a objective experiment. This paper aims to compare the daylighting performance in 1, 1/5, 1/10 scale model of offices and analyze the experiment errors to certificate the influence of model experiment. To analyse daylighting performance, a comparison of a Mock-up model, sized $12.0m(w){\times}7.2m(l){\times}3.7m(h)$, designed for experimentation of daylighting systems and its 1:5, 1:10 scale model. It has an identical configuration of reference room and the test room. For the test room, the lightshelf system was designed as Micro-4 reflective material. To assess work plane illuminance and light factor, photometric sensors of each room were installed at work-plane(6 points) and exterior horizontal illuminance (1 point). And luminance of window, rare of the room was measured under clear sky. It is to be monitored by Agilent data logger, photometric sensor Li-cor and the Radiant Imaging ProMetric 1400. Comparisons with a light factor, increase-decrease ratio and luminance are discussed.
In genome-wide association studies, pathway-based analysis has been widely performed to enhance interpretation of single-nucleotide polymorphism association results. We proposed a novel method of hierarchical structural component model (HisCoM) for pathway analysis of common variants (HisCoM for pathway analysis of common variants [HisCoM-PCA]) which was used to identify pathways associated with traits. HisCoM-PCA is based on principal component analysis (PCA) for dimensional reduction of single nucleotide polymorphisms in each gene, and the HisCoM for pathway analysis. In this study, we developed a HisCoM-PCA software for the hierarchical pathway analysis of common variants. HisCoM-PCA software has several features. Various principle component scores selection criteria in PCA step can be specified by users who want to summarize common variants at each gene-level by different threshold values. In addition, multiple public pathway databases and customized pathway information can be used to perform pathway analysis. We expect that HisCoM-PCA software will be useful for users to perform powerful pathway analysis.

The use of energy pile foundation has been increased for economic utilization of geothermal energy. In particular, a coil-shaped ground heat exchanger (GHE) is preferred than conventional U-shaped heat exchanger to ensure better efficiency of heat exchange rate. This paper presents experimental results by changing different pitch spaces of spiral coils. Joomunjin sand was filled in a steel box of which the size was $5m{\times}1m{\times}1m$. Thermal response tests (TRTs) were conducted to measure the ground thermal conductivity with temperatures of circulating water using line source model and ring coil model. Experimental results and analytical solutions were compared to validate the applicability of these models. Ring coil model showed more accurate similar results with experimental data rather than line source model and cylindrical source model.

The purpose of this study is to identify the flow resistance of the bottom pair trawl nets. The bottom pair trawl nets being used in fishing vessel (100G/T, 550ps) was selected as a full-scale net, and 1/10, 1/25 and 1/50 of the model nets were made. Converted into the full-scale net by Tauti's modeling rule and Kim's modeling rule, when resistance coefficient k of each net was calculated by substituting into above equation for flow resistance R and wall area of nets S values of each net ${\upsilon}$. Because resistant coefficient k decreases exponentially according as flow velocity ${\upsilon}$ increases to make $k=c{\upsilon}^{-m}$, c and m values of each net were compared. As a result, as the model was smaller, c and m values was smaller in the two rule into standard of 1/10 model value, decrease degree of 1/25 model was almost same in the two rule, decrease degree of 1/50 model was very big in Tauti's modeling rule. Therefore, in the result of experiment, because average of c and m values for similarly 1/10 and 1/25 model were given $c=4.9(kgf{\cdot}s^2/m^4)$ and m=0.45, R (kgf) of bottom pair trawl net could show $R=4.9S{\upsilon}^{1.55}$ using these values. As in the order of cod-end, wing and bag part for 1/25 and 1/50 model net were removed in turn, measured flow resistance of each, converted into the full-scale, total resistance of the net and the resistance of each part net were calculated. The resistance ratio of each part for total net was not same in 1/25 and 1/50 model each other, but average of two nets was perfectly same area ratio of each part as the wing, bag and cod-end part was 43%, 45% and 12%. However, the resistance of each part divided area of the part, calculated the resistance of per unit area, wing and bag part were not big difference each other, while the resistance of cod-end part was very large.

In this paper we introduce some adaptive M-estimators using selector statistics to estimate the slope of regression model under the symmetric and continuous underlying error distributions. This selector statistics is based on the residuals after the preliminary fit L$_1$ (least absolute estimator) and the idea of Hogg(1983) and Hogg et. al. (1988) who used averages of some order statistics to discriminate underlying symmetric distributions in the location model. If we use L$_1$ as a preliminary fit to get residuals, we find the asymptotic distribution of sample quantiles of residual are slightly different from that of sample quantiles in the location model. If we use the functions of sample quantiles of residuals as selector statistics, we find the suitable quantile points of residual based on maximizing the asymptotic distance index to discriminate distributions under consideration. In Monte Carlo study, this adaptive M-estimation method using selector statistics works pretty good in wide range of underlying error distributions.
Densities (ρ) for binary mixtures of ethanol (1) + diisopropyl ether (DIPE) or cyclohexane or alkane (C6-C9) (2) were measured at 298.15 K, 308.15 K and 318.15 K. The excess molar volume (VEm) of binary mixtures was calculated using ρ data and correlated with Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. The VEm values for binary mixtures of ethanol (1) + cyclohexane or n-alkane (C6-C9) (2) were positive, whereas for ethanol (1) + DIPE (2) these were negative. The magnitude of VEm values follows the order: cyclohexane > n-nonane > n-octane > n-heptane > n-hexane > DIPE. The VEm values have been interpreted qualitatively and also quantitatively in terms of Flory-Treszczanowicz-Benson (FTB) model and Prigogine-Flory-Patterson (PFP) theory. The values VEm predicted using FTB model agree well with experimental VEm values at all mole fractions. But the PFP theory describes well VEm data in ethanol-rich region (x1 > 0.5) for all binary mixtures and is able to predict the sign of VEm vs x1 curve for ethanol-lean region (x1 < 0.5) except for ethanol (1) + nonane (2) mixtures.

The Froude scaling between the prototype and the model was tried to estimate the necessary ventilation rate for non-isothermal concentrated fume from the semi-closed inner space. Based on the non-dimensional similitude equations derived from the Zukoski plume rise analysis, the scaling experiments were done to verify the relationship of the non-dimensional energy release rate and the non-dimensional mass flow rate by using two different scaled volume models, model A ($1\;m{\times}1\;m{\times}1\;m$) and model B ($0.5\;m{\times}0.5\;m{\times}0.5\;m$). The experimental results showed that the theoretical similitude between the models is acceptable for the prediction of ventilation rate of the concentrated fume. The maximum energy release rate used for the experiments was $20\;kW/m^3$. In the experimental range, the similitude between the energy release rate and the ventilation mass flow rate was well defined and the necessary ventilation rates were 20-30% higher than the stoichiometric ventilation mass flow rate. Based on results of current study, the design of the local air ventilation system can be improved by correcting the effects of buoyancy and diffusion of the non-isothermal concentrated fume.
This study intended to measure the desorption and adsorption EMC of four years old Peeled ginseng, Unpeeled ginseng and Taegeuk ginseng under various conditions$20^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, $40^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$) and five levels of relative humidity from 31% to 88%) by the static method. Four widely used EMC models were selected and evaluated. Also the empirical model was evaluated. The results are summarized as follows ; 1) EMC difference between ginseng size was not found but found between ginseng species. EMC difference between Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was not found. EMC of Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was higher than that of Taegeuk ginseng. 2) The hysteresis, which is difference between desorption and adsorption EMC, was found. Desorption EMC was higher than adsorption EMC. The hysteresis at the same temperature decreased as relative humidity increase. The difference of hysteresis between Peeled ginseng and Unpeeled ginseng was not large and the hysteresis of Taegeuk ginseng was smaller than those of other species. 3) Among the selected models, Henderson model was the best to predict the adsorption EMC of White ginseng(Peeled and Unpeeled ginseng), and Oswin model was the best to predict the desorption EMC of White ginseng and the desorption and adsorption EMC of Taegeuk ginseng. The models are as follows ; (a) White ginseng(Peeled and Unpeeled ginseng) ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC(Oswin model) : $$M=(0.1272-0.0007420T){\cdot}[RH/(1-RH)]^{(0.4164+0.001368T)}$$${\circ}$ Adsorption(Henderson model) : $$1-RH={\exp}[-0.0003480T_k\;{M_o}^{0.9231}]$$ (b) Taegeuk ginseng ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC(Oswin model) : $$M=(0.1051-0.0008439T)[RH/(1-RH)]^{(0.4553+0.003425T)}$$${\circ}$ Adsorption EMC(Oswin model) : $$M=(0.08247-0.0007559T){\cdot}[RH/(1-RH)]^{(0.5760+0.005540T)}$$ 4) The developed empirical models could predict the desorption and adsorption EMC for White and Taegeuk ginseng more precisely than selected models. The empirical models are as follows ; (a) White ginseng(Peeled and Unpeeled ginseng) ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC : $$M=0.124-0.000647T-0.216RH+0.373RH^2$$${\circ}$ Adsorption EMC : $$M=0.0879-0.000663T-0.197RH+0.399RH^2$$. (b) Taegeuk ginseng ${\circ}$ Desorption EMC : $$M=0.159-0.000728T-0.429RH+0.565RH^2$$${\circ}$ Adsorption EMC : $$M=0.123-0.000662T-0.384RH+0.555RH^2$$.
