Objectives : We suggest the method of oriental neuropsychiatry treatment about amnesia through herb therapy. Methods : We investigate cause of disease, component of herbs about amnesia with classic current oriental medicine books. Results : Amnesia is due to simsinbulgyo(心腎不交), biwieyangher(脾胃陽虛), dammisimgyoo(痰迷心竅), emotional damage(七情所傷), extravasated blood(瘀血), deficiency of kidney (腎虛). There is 138 kind of herbs are used in our study that we find out that most frequently used herb is ginseng(人蔘). Heart meridian is the highest use in the all meridians. Sungon(性溫) is the highest use in the all kimi(氣味) Conclusions : We could confirm that herbs of amnesia treatment was related to the three vital organs(臟) named of spleen(脾), lung(肺), kidney(腎).

Objectives : Before Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lung, Kidney was widely accepted as Five Viscera, there had been several former types of Viscera system in pre-Western Han era. Above them, the Five Viscera system consisted of Liver, Heart, Stomach, Lung, Kidney was not yet hardly studied. So we tried to prove it's existence and tried to find it's historical context. Material and Methods : Via preceding research analysis, 6 books were selected as research material, and some other pre-Eastern Han dynasty classics were also analyzed. Results : We found direct evidence of above Five Viscera system in Zhuixingxun (墜形訓) in Huainanzi (淮南子), Wusemaizhen (五色脈診), and Western Han dynasty lacquer figure with meridian-points (excavated in Laoguanshan, Chengdu, China). Other clues showing existence of above Five Viscera system was also found in Yinyangshiyimaijiujing (陰陽十一脈灸經), Pianquecanggongliechuan (扁鵲倉公列傳). The rising of above Five Viscera system was related to physiological viewpoint transition of viscera in Western Han dynasty. Conclusions : In Western Han dynasty there was another Viscera System consisted of Liver, Heart, Stomach, Lung, Kidney.

In Neijing("內經"), it explains heaven, earth, four seasons(天地四時) take part in human's birth, it gives influence on life support, and have organic relationship between body and movement of sun and earth(日月運行) of heaven and earth. Human body and the natural world corresponds, so the time changes in the natural world give immediate influence to human body, and correspond changes happen inside human body. This has no exception in qi of human(人氣), meridians, the viscera and organs(臟腑) and so on. In time, there are many kinds of cycles such as year, month, 10 days and a day. Yin and yang and the five elements in each cycle shows changes of prosperity and decay and transformation. In a year, there are spring, summer, late summer, fall and winter which are each included to wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Spring and summer belong to yang(陽), and fall and winter belong to yin(陰). A day can be divided into the crowing of the cook, dawn, noon, and twilight. After midnight yin falls and yang rises(陰盡陽生), and after noon yang falls and yin rises(陽盡陰生). Ups and downs of the qi and blood and human body change with time and the region of whereabout is different. In one month, when the moon is full qi of blood rises and when the moon comes down qi of blood falls. The qi of meridian(經氣) has a periodical changes with regular movement in meridian. This is a result of continuing movement of meridian and the nutrient(營) and the defense(衛) in human body, stars correspond with ups, and correspond with flow of water of meridian(經水) with downs. In a day the twelve meridians(十二經脈) in hour of yin(hours 3~5), it starts with qi and blood of lung meridian(手太陰肺經) prosperous, each qi and blood of meridian prosperous in order. In eight extra meridians(奇經八脈), Bideungpalbup(飛騰八法) per 5 days, Younggoopalbup(靈龜八法) per 60 days qi of pulse(脈氣) changes correspond. The qi and blood of five meridian points(五兪穴) is 5 days, so.

Front Points are told to be deeply related with viscera and bowels in oriental medicine. Since the Front Points are treated as response zone, it can be used for the diagnosis and treatment of disease in viscera and bowels. The location of Front Points are very similar to the several response zones in western medicine. Diagnostic aspect of Front Points to several response zones were discussed in here based on many thesis and reported laboratorial experiments. Front Points are located in the same latitude of viscera and bowels. So, diagnosis result in Front Points represent condition of each organs. Palpitation of the Front Points can make diagnosis of body surface and the organ beneath the body surface. Such use of Front Points for diagnosis can used as the treatment points also. Only three Front Points (LU-1, LI-14, GB-24) in lung, liver and gall bladder meridian are located on its meridian. The Front Points of Stomach (CV-12) cross its meridian or closely located to it. Unlike to those four Front Points that are matched to its meridian, other eight Front Points do not located or cross its meridian at all. It seems that the location of Front Points are decided by the location of organs and the conditions at a certain organ do not delivered by the meridians but delivered by main collaterals, tertiary collaterals and superficial collaterals instead. Among visceral response zones, Five Front Points (CV-3, CV-4, CV-12, LI-14, GB-25) are exactly matched to Head's response zone and other Front Points are closely matched to the Head's response zone. There are five Front Points (CV-12, CV-14, CV-17, LI-14, GB-24) that are matched with the location of pressing palpitation point and other Front Points are closely located to the pressing palpitation point. So far, it was clear that the Front Points do have important role as response points. Symptoms expressed to the Front Points were delivered conditions or symptoms occur in corresponding organ and the anatomical location of Front Points were also found near the corresponding organ. Diagnostic and therapeutic application of Front Points for Organ theory and in the Interpromotion-restraint of the five elements in oriental medicine can be made in future to increase its potential.

Objectives : For the purpose of developing Korean herbalogy of the plants belonging to Pteridaceae in Korea, the literatures of the successive generations have been thoroughly investigated to prepare this article. Methods : The examined herbalogical books and research papers which published at home and abroad. Results : 1: There are totaled to 12 genera and 33 species in Pteridaceae in Korea and among them medicinal plants are 10 genera, 19 species, some 58% in total. 2: Adiantum genus is main kind enough that it has 5 species among 33 species in Pteridaceae, of which medicinal plants are 4 species. 3: The herb is the main medicinal parts if medicinal plants in the Pteridaceae, which is used in 18 species. 4: According to nature and flavor of medicinal plants in the Pteridaceae, they were classified into cold 15 species, and cool 11; bitter taste 12, little bitter taste 11 and sweet taste 5 in the order. 5: According to meridian propism of medicinal plants in the Pteridaceae, they were classified into liver meridian 15 species, lung and large intestine meridian 8 species, heart meridian 6 species. 6: According to the properties and principal curative action, they were classified into drugs for clearing away heat 24 species, drugs for detoxification 22 species, drugs for promoting diuresis 12 species in the order. 7: The number of toxic species in the Pteridaceae was examined to be 2 species. Conclusions : There are totaled to 12 genera and 33 species in Pteridaceae in Korea and among them medicinal plants are 10 genera, 19 species, some 58% in total.

Objectives : This research was performed to investigate the effect of five element constitutional acupuncture(Sa-am acupuncture) therapy at acupoints on the Yin meridians on obese rats(Sprague Dawley strain, male) induced by high fat diet. Methods : The control and acupuncture groups were provided with high fat diet, and the acupuncture groups were treated with five element constitutional acupuncture(Sa-am acupuncture) every other day for five weeks. We observed the body weight gain, food intake, riglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, AST, and ALT. Result : The acupuncture group treated with five element acupuncture on the meridians of spleen, heart, pericardium showed significant decrease of body weight, the groups treated on the meridians of lung, heart, pericardium showed signigicant decrease of food intake. Concentration of HDL-cholesterol was significantly increased in the groups treated on the meridians of spleen, heart, pericardium, liver. Conclusion : Reviewing these experimental results, it appears that the five element constitutional acupuncture(Sa-am acupuncture) therapy at acupoints on the meridians of spleen, heart and pericardium have an efficacy on obesity induced by high fat diet.

In the oriental medicine rhinopathy had been described since Hwangjenaekyung and from earlier period rhinopathy was closely related with lung and lung meridian. So we investigated about 20 oriental medical texts of china which regarded important in medical history. We made a historical study about rhinopathy according to these books and obtained the next conclusion. At first rhinopathy was recognized just one symptom, reduced by some disease, but from Song(宋) dynasty it was understood one part of disease which is in the category of rhinopathy. Name of classified rhinopathy was plentiful as time goes by.

To study the effects of EF(Eriobotryae Folium) herbal acupuncture on asthma, we injected EF-HAS into Jok-samni(ST36) of C57BL/6 mice Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of EF-HA(herbal acupuncture) at ST36 on ovalbumin-induced asthma in mice Methods : C57BL/6 mice were sensitized and challenged with OVA(ovalbumin) for 12 weeks(once a week). Experimental groups were treated with concentrations(1%) of EF-HA at Jok-samni(ST36) for the later 8 weeks(3times/week). Result : 1. The weight and total cells of lung of the mice group treated with EF-HA decreased significantly compared with that of Control group. 2. Total Leukocytes and Eosinophils in BALF of the mice group treated with EF-HA decreased significantly compared with those of Control group. 3. The sticking of collagen on histological analysis of lung sections, the mice group treated with EF-HA decreased significantly compared with those of Control group. 4. The concentration of IgE, IL-4, IL-5 in BALF of the mice group treated with EF-HA decreased significantly compared with those of Control group. 5. The concentration of IL-4, IL-5, IL-13 in Serum of the mice group treated with EF-HA decreased significantly compared with those of Control group. 6. The number of $Gr-1^+/CD11b^+,\;CD3^-/CCR3^+,\;CD4^+,\;CD8^+,\;CD3e^+/CD69^+$ cells in the lungs of the mice group treated with EF-HA decreased significantly compared with those of Control group. 7. The cytokine's manifestation of mRNA of the mice group treated with EF-HA with RT-PCR decreased significantly compared with that of Control group. Conclusion : We conclude that EF-HA is effective on OVA-induced asthma of C57BL/6 mouse.

Cupping therapy has been used to extensive diseases. However, the research was yet to meridian and acupoint's change of state caused by Cupping. This study was considered a human-ripple effect by the anlaysis of meridian & acupoint's change of state. We developed the system which is keeps 30kPa Negative-pressure and stimulated on the Left Lung Meridian(LU) a halfway point between LU4 and LU5. We checked moisture and elasticity change on left/right acupoints & non-acupoints, then measured EMG Signal. We observed that moisture had little change(12.49%) and the better part of the elasticity on both sides had identified the change(64.42%). The number of the provoked acupoiunt elasticity change was more than non-acupoint. Also, elasticity change of Right side was more than Left side. We confirmed that RMS and Median Power change patterns were lower in proportional to the elastin change, but there was no significance about Median Frequency. Therefore inducing the change of elasticity and EMG signal on meridian-acupoints. Therefore, We checked the human-ripple effect Negative-pressure by the Cupping therapy.

Objective : We have studied the part, definition, diagnostic generaliztion and pathological viewpoint of Qi mouth and Renying by refering literatures Methods : I refered to records from anciant to modern. The results are followings : 1. Qi mouth and Renying is ancient diagnostic method and the origin of diagnostic method through the pulsation of radial artery. And Qi mouth is recognized as the right and left Qi mouth and Renying is located on pulsation points of both common carotid arteries. 2. The yin of five viscera, nutritional blood and viscous liquid are diagnosed by Qi mouth which is inclued lung meridian. And the yang of six organs, guarding Qi and the rise and fall of stomach energy are diagnosed by Renying which is inclued stomach meridian. 3. It is possible that the position, process and transformational condition of disease are decided by comparing and examining Qi mouth and Renying.
