  • Large machine and structure can not be normally treated as lumped parameter system. Such machine or structure must be broken down to individual beams or panels the motion of which must be analysed before an absorber system can be designed for each element. The absorber may be a lumped parameter system or a continuous system. One of the most common elements in a machine or structure is the cantilever, and in this paper is considered the design of a continuous parameter absorber to reduce the transverse vibrations of a beam. So this paper describes the method to obtain the accurate information about combined continuous beam system with DVA. This information is obtained from the combined system's receptance. and this paper shows the convenience and useful informations when design the dynamic vibration absorber with the combined system's receptance.

  • This paper suggests a control method for efficient topology/parameter evolution in a bond-graph-based GP design framework that automatically synthesizes designs for multi-domain, lumped parameter dynamic systems, We adopt a hierarchical breeding control mechanism with fitness-level-dependent differences to obtain better balancing of topology/parameter search - biased toward topological changes at low fitness levels, and toward parameter changes at high fitness levels. As a testbed for this approach, an eigenvalue assignment problem, which is to find bond graph models exhibiting minimal distance errors from target sets of eigenvalues, was tested and showed improved performance for various sets of eigenvalues.

  • This paper deals with the basic concepts of sensitivity analysis in a time domain for the transient response of a lumped mass system. Sensitivity analysis methods in thme domain for determining the effects of parameter changes on the response of a dynamic system by external excitation are presented. The parametric sensitivity of a lumped mass system in time domain can be investigated using different types of sensitivity functions, including first order standard and percentage sensitivity functions. These sensitivity functions are determined as a function of partial derivatives of system variables taken with respect to system parameters. In addition, we compared the results of the analytical method by direct method and those of numerical methods.

  • This paper discusses the thermal effect of the number of permanent-magnet (PM) layers in an outer rotor machine. Depending on the number of axial-layer of PM, the operating temperature is compared analytically and experimentally. The electromagnetic analysis is performed using 3-dimensional time varying finite element method to get the heat sources depending on axial-layered PM models. Then thermal analysis is conducted using the lumped-parameter-thermal-network method for each case. Two outer rotor machines, which have the different number of axial-layer of PM, are manufactured and tested to validate the analysis results.

  • This paper establishes a compact and practical model for a water-wall system comprising supercritical once-through boilers, which can be used for automatic control or simple analysis of the entire boiler-turbine system. Input and output variables of the water-wall system are defined, and balance equations are applied using a lumped parameter method. For practical purposes, the dynamic equations are developed with respect to pressure and temperature instead of density and internal energy. A comparison with results obtained using APESS, a practical thermal power plant simulator developed by Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, is presented with respect to steady state and transient responses.

  • In this study, Three-Dimensional igniter modeling and computational Analysis for PMD internal flow analysis have been conducted. The igniter modeling used the lumped parameter method and the computational analysis has been performed in conjunction with the commercial program STAR-CCM+. The result of computational analysis has been compared with those of CBT and PMD experiments.

  • This paper deals with the electromagnetic and thermal analysis of high speed induction motor. The induction motor is analyzed by time-varying magnetic finite element method and its thermal analysis is carried out by using analytical lumped-circuit method. Analysis results are compared with the experiment of 29kW high speed motor prototype at 12,000rpm.

  • This paper presents a new type of jetting dispenser for the integrated circuit (IC) fabrication and surface mount technology The proposed system is featured by the piezoelectric actuator and hydraulic magnification device. After describing structural component of the dispensing mechanism and its operation principle, both the fluid modeling and the hydraulic magnification modeling are undertaken with a lumped-parameter method based on the analogy of the fluid system and mechanical system. A mathematical governing equation is then derived by integrating the fluid model with the mechanical model of the driving piston and piezoelectric actuator. Subsequently, in order to achieve a desired dispensing amount, control algorithm adjusting duty cycle of the driving voltage is synthesized and control responses are presented in time domain.
