Six muscles were seamed out randomly from Hanwoo carcasses (n = 12) of each quality grade (quality grades 1, 2 and 3). Samples were analysed for their total and soluble collagen contents, IMCT (intramuscular connective tissue) and Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF). Simple correlation (n = 21) was determined for WBSF among major muscles. For LT (longissimus thoracis), total collagen content was significantly higher (p<0.05) for quality grade 3 than those for quality grades 1 and 2. For semitendinosus (ST), semimembranosus (SM), psoas major (PM) and serratus ventralis (SV), total collagen content of quality grade 1 was lowest (p<0.05) of all quality grades. IMCT shear force for gluteus medius (GM) decreased (p<0.05) with better quality grade, and those for other muscles, with the exception of GM, were higher (p<0.05) for quality grade 3 than for quality grades 1 and 2. WBSF values showed GM and LT to be decreased (p<0.05) with better quality grade, and PM to be higher (p<0.05) for quality grade 3 than those for quality grades 1 and 2. SM, ST and SV from quality grade 1 had lower (p<0.05) WBSF value than those from quality grades 2 and 3. Total collagen content of ST was highest (p<0.05) of all muscles, whereas that of PM was lowest (p<0.05). Soluble collagen contents of LT and SV from quality grades 1 and 2 were, in general, higher (p<0.05) than other muscles, but that of SM was lowest (p<0.05). ST and SM had higher (p<0.05) WBSF values for three quality grades when compared to other muscles, whereas PM was lowest (p<0.05). LT had the strongest simple correlation with SV (r = 0.78) and GM (r = 0.77), and SM had the strongest correlation with ST (r = 0.73) and LT (r = 0.73). Also, PM had the strongest correlation with SV (r = 0.62).

This study measures the effect of oral health promotion program based on community networking for elementary school students in community child center. The community networking were constructed of community health center, headquarters for community child center and school of dental hygiene in community. First, we were educated the student and teacher of community child center, separately. Community health center planned and evaluated the program, and school of dental hygiene ran the maintenance program once a month for 3 months and evaluated the program. The teacher of community health center were supported and monitored the children. The comparison was done in independent t-test of awareness, knowledge and behavior of children of community child center in both lower grades and upper grades and paired t-test of patient hygiene performance (PHP) index was conducted before and after oral health promotion program. As a result, PHP index and oral health knowledge increased significantly after oral health program in lower grades and upper grades (p<0.001). The positive attitude for oral health about "Whatever I do, my tooth-will be decayed" increased more in upper grades better than lower grades after oral health promotion program (p<0.05). We suggest that oral health program based on community networking should be constructed for oral health promotion of elementary school students in community child center.

We analyzed and compared factors such as changes in the degree of difficulty of concepts presented in Chemistry I textbook, changes in class types (non-face-to-face, face-to-face), etc. on academic achievement by level (upper, middle, and lower). Students from A high school in Gyeongsangnam-do were selected for the subjects of the study. As a result of analyzing the change in the degree of difficulty of concepts, the total score of chemistry I combined by non-face-to-face and face-to-face classes during the second semester was lower than that of the first semester. As a result of analyzing the impact of factors such as changes in conceptual difficulty, changes in class types, etc. on academic achievement by level, students' grades at the 'lower level' by non-face-to-face classes were lower than those by face-to-face classes. In particular, at the lower level of the second semester, there was a large difference in grades between non-face-to-face and face-to-face classes. In the results of these studies, it was found that instructors' active feedback is important to identify difficulties in understanding learning contents for students with low levels of academic achievement and improve them at the same time.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between social support and perception of self-confidence in children by grade, sex, and other related variables. The subjects were 136 third-graders, 143 sixth-graders, and 161 eighth-graders in public schools located in Pusan. Instruments were Harter's Self-Perception Profile for Children and the Social Support Appraisal Scale (SSAS). The SSAS is a 31-item measure that taps children's perception of family, peer, and teacher support. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentile, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. The main results showed that (1) children in 6th and 8th grades perceived higher peer support than children in 3rd grade, (2) except for social acceptance, the children in higher grades perceived themselves lower in self-competence than the children in lower grades, (3) there was a positive relationship between children's perception of self-competence and social support, and (4) the variables which influenced children's self-perception were, in descending order: socioeconomic status(${\beta}=.52$), age(${\beta}=.21$), social support(${\beta}=.10$). These three variables explained 38% of the children' self-perception.
Purpose: This study was done to discover the contents needed for a sexual education program in the lower grades (the first to the third grade) by primary school teachers and to discover difficulties in confronting sexual education. Method: This was a descriptive study of 198 teachers for lower grade students in 15 primary schools. A questionnaire on sexual education was distributed and collected by mail. Result: The contents for sexual education that teachers felt were highly needed are as follows: sanitation of genitals, sexual violence, pregnancy & childbirth, family, selfassertion, and sexual self-determination. Teachers think prevention of sexual violence is the main reason for sexual education. Teachers indicated that sexual education considering the developmental stage was difficult. Conclusion: Development of a sexual education curriculum for lower grade primary school students is necessary for increasing the problem-solving ability of students focused on sexual violence, self-assertion and sexual self-determination, in addition to providing simple information.

Objectives: In this study, knowledge of environmental disease, experience of environmental health education and necessity of environmental health education of elementary school pupils were compared and analyzed. Methods: The population of this study was from grade 1 to 6 elementary school pupils in Ulsan city, Korea. Five elementary schools were randomly selected from Ulsan City. Seven hundred and twenty-eight responses from the five schools were analyzed (seventy-two were excluded). A self-administered questionnaire measuring sociodemographic variables, Knowledge of environment related disease(atopic dermatitis, asthma etc), as well as educational experience and necessity of environmental health education was analyzed. The survey results were analyzed using SPSS-PC Program 12.0 and the following results by implementing Frequency Analysis, Cross-tabulation Analysis and ANOVA are as follows. Result: Pupils of lower grades more informed than those of higher grades about atopic dermatitis. Among asthma sufferers, many responded that symptoms occurred or improved during the lower grades of elementary school. In terms of the lifestyles of patients with atopic dermatitis or asthma, female pupils, especially those in the lower grades, tended to make changes in their daily habits based on their disease. Also, parents tended to intervene/mediate more in the dietary habits and personal hygiene habits of lower-grade pupils compared to their higher-grade counterparts. Personal hygiene education is currently not provided in schools, and upper-grade pupils have more experience with personal hygiene education compared to lower grade pupils. 430 (59.0%) of pupils replied that education about personal hygiene is necessary in their curriculum. 490 (67.3%) of elementary pupils are aware of the close connection between education in hygiene and human health. When asked if education in hygiene should also be undertaken by teachers and parents, 406 (55.7%) students said that it should be done. Conclusions: Developing a concrete health education program and raising instructors' awareness of the necessity for education in hygiene. Placement of professionals in the personal hygiene education field, is important to provide good health education for elementary school pupils.
The objective of this study is to analyze the hazard-areas for landslide using GIS and RS. LRA (Logistic Regression Analysis) and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Program) methods were used for evaluation of the hazard-areas by six topographic factors (slope, aspect, elevation, soil drain, soil depth, land use). These methods were applied to Anseong-si where frequent landslides were occurred mainly by the regional heavy rainfall. A landslide hazard-map of Anseong-si could describe into 7 hazard-grades. As results, LRA method was underestimated in higher grades areas, while AHP method was underestimated in lower grades areas. In order to evaluate the hazard-areas for landslides with accuracy, these results of each method were overlapped and the results of suggested method were compared with the historical landslide hazard records of KFRI (Korea Forest Research Institute).

The purposes of this study were to measure university academic achievement based on gender. We analyzed university academic achievement based on gender. The subjects for this analysis were 322 students from freshmen to seniors who received grades in their first semester in the computer engineering department at a university located in the Chungcheong area. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, the average university academic achievement was 3.01. Second, the university academic achievement of female students was higher than that of male students in the entire curriculum, liberal arts, and major subjects. Students showed higher academic achievement when their grades rose. Male students showed higher rate of rise when their grades rose compared to female students. This paper proposes that it is necessary to develop programs to further adaption to university life for males. Since male students showed significantly lower university academic achievement, various programs like counseling and mentoring are needed.
This study analyzed various factors of reading motivation and motivational differences between grades and gender. An urban sample of first-, third- and fifth- grade children completed the Motivation for Reading Questionnaire (MRQ; Wigfield & Guthrie, 1997). The MRQ assesses such possible factors of reading motivation as self-efficacy, intrinsic-extrinsic reading motives, and social aspects of reading. Factor analyses and cronbach's ${\alpha}$ demonstrated that 10 factors of children's reading motivation could be identified and measured reliably. Mean scores on most of the factors differed by grade and gender, with girls and lower grades reporting stronger motivation. This study found that children's reading motivation is various and decreases as children mature. Various efforts to encourage children's motivation for reading are suggested in this study.
This study was about to investigate the characteristics of elementary school students' feet growth, comparing and analyzed the measured values and the index values of 3D scan data. As the results from analyzing the measured values, the all measurement items excluding 'Toe 5 angle' showed some significant differences among the age classes, knowing that the elementary school students' feet were continually grown. Although, the items of length, thickness, width, height and circumference indicate some rapid growth of feet at 11 years old, but it appears slowing growth of 'Foot width' after the age of 11 years old. The angle item didn't show any sequential differences according to ages. As the results from analyzing the index values, the children in higher grades have longer 'Toe 5', thicker ankles, wider and thicker the superior part of feet than the children in lower grades. For the superior and the middle part of feet were lowly raised, their Arch height was low and thick. The inferior part of feet showed narrow width and higher height. Giving that the Medial ball width was wide and the Toe 1 angle is high for the children in higher grades, it is expected that the Metatarsophalangeal I might be more projected than that of children in lower grades. Likewise, knowing that the male students' feet shape was bigger than female students' feet from the result that the male students' index values were higher.
