Design of Low Cost Controller for 5[kVA] 3-Phase Active Power Filter (5[kVA]급 3상 능동전력필터를 위한 저가형 제어기 설계)

  • According to increase of nonlinear power electronics equipment, active power filters have been researched and developed for many years to compensate harmonic disturbances and reactive power. However the commercial of active power filter is being proceeded slowly, because the cost of active power filter compared to the passive filter for harmonic and reactive power compensation is expensive. Especially, the use of DSP (Digital Signal Processing) chip, which is frequently used to control 3-phase active power filter, is a factor of increasing the cost of active power filters. On the other hand, the use of only analog controller makes the controller's circuits much more complicate and depreciates the flexibilities of controller. In this paper, a controller with low cost for 5[kVA] 3-phase active power filter system is designed. To reduce the expense of active filter system, the presented controller is composed of digital control part using Intel 80C196KC $\mu$P and analog control part using hysteresis controller for current control. Characteristic analysis of designed controller for active filter system is performed by computer simulation and compensating characteristics of the designed controller are verified by experiment.tegy can apply to the vector control, leading to better output torque capability in the ac motor drive system. This strategy is that in the overmodulation range, the d-axis output current is given a priority to regulate the flux well, instead the q-axis output curent is sacrificed. Therefore, the vector control even in the overmodulation PWM operation can be achieved well. For this purpose, the d-axis output voltage of a current controller to control the flux is conserved. the q-axis output voltage to control the torque is controlled to place the reference voltage vector on the hexagon boundary in case of the overmodulation. The validity of the proposed overall scheme is confirmed by simulation and experiments for a 22[kW] induction motor drive system.

  • 본 논문에서는 비동기식 회로기술의 최근 동향을 분석하기 위해 관련 분야의 가장 저명한 학회인 비동기식 회로 및 시스템 학회(International Symposium on Asynchronous Circuits and Systems: ASYNC)에 투고된 논문과 기존의 동향분석 자료를 비교 분석하여 제시하고, 관련 업체의 상용화 사례를 통한 비동기식 회로 기술전망을 제시한다. 조사된 논문은 2011년부터 2015년까지 투고된 총 90편의 논문을 각 기준에 따라 분류하고, 연도별, 국가별, 기관별 동향을 분석함으로 최근 관련 기술의 연구동향을 통계화하여 제시하였다. 분석 결과 지난 최근 3년 내 Low Power 분야가 주목할 만한 성장세를 보였고, 상용화 사례로는 Intel의 비동기식 설계를 통한 네트워크 칩, IBM의 Brain inspired processor인 TrueNorth 프로세서 등이 주목할 만하다.

  • In this paper, the frequency estimator and DFT filter gain compensation for UFR(Under Frequency protection Relay) is introduced. Due to the sudden appearance of generator loads or faults in power system, the frequency is supposed to deviate from its nominal value. Because a frequency calculation is based on phase information, it needs sufficient sampling data to figure out a precious frequency. Therefore the frequency measurement for UFR needs excellent qualities such as high speed and precision with low sampling frequency Authors propose the frequency estimator which compares the vector differences and the DFT filter gain compensation which identifies DFT filter error and correct it. Using the frequency estimator and compensation, UFR which has the 0.01[ms] calculation delay and 0.003[Hz] measurement error is implemented with digital processor.

  • It is recognized that the control surface fault is detected by monitoring the value of the coefficients due to the control surface deviation. It is found out the control surface stuck position by comparing the trim value with the reference value. To detect and isolate the fault, two mixed methods apply to the real-time parameter estimation and similarity measure. If the scatter of aerodynamic coefficients for the fault and normal are closing nearly, fault decision is difficult. Applying similarity measure to decide for fault or not, it makes a clear and easy distinction between fault and normal. Low power processor is applied to the real-time parameter estimator and computation of similarity measure.

  • This paper focuses on the real time implementation of an adaptive multi-rate (AMR) speech codec, that is a standard speech codec of IMT-2000, using the TMS320VC5510. The series of TMS320VC55x is a 16-bit fixed-point digital signal processor (DSP) having low power consumption for the use of mobile communications by Texas Instruments (TI) corporation. After we analyze the AMR algorithm and source code as well as the structure and I/O of 7MS320VC55x, we carry out optimizing the programs for real time implementation. The implemented AMR speech codec uses 55.2 kbyte for the program memory and 98.3 kbyte for the data memory, and it requires 709,878 clocks, i.e. about 3.5 ms, for processing a frame of 20 ms speech signal.

MoTE-ECC Based Encryption on MSP430

  • Public key cryptography (PKC) is the basic building block for the cryptography applications such as encryption, key distribution, and digital signature scheme. Among many PKC, elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) is the most widely used in IT systems. Recently, very efficient Montgomery-Twisted-Edward (MoTE)-ECC was suggested, which supports low complexity for the finite field arithmetic, group operation, and scalar multiplication. However, we cannot directly adopt the MoTE-ECC to new PKC systems since the cryptography is not fully evaluated in terms of performance on the Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, which only supports very limited computation power, energy, and storage. In this paper, we fully evaluate the MoTE-ECC implementations on the representative IoT devices (16-bit MSP processors). The implementation is highly optimized for the target platform and compared in three different factors (ROM, RAM, and execution time). The work provides good reference results for a gradual transition from legacy ECC to MoTE-ECC on emerging IoT platforms.

  • In this paper, image detection and recognition algorithms are studied with respect to embedded carrier system. There are many suggested techniques to detect and recognize objects. But they have the propensity to need much calculation for high hit rate. Advanced and modified method needs to study for embedded systems that low power consumption and real time response are requested. The proposed methods were implemented using Intel(R) Open Source Computer Vision Library provided by Intel Corporation. And they run and tested on embedded system using a ARM920T processor by cross-compiling. They showed 1.6sec response time and 95% hit rate and supported the automated moving carrier system smoothly.

  • In this paper a boiler control system simulator is designed and inplemeted in order to evaluate performance of the Fault Tolerant Control System. It simulates a boiler control system of a thermal power plant containtng boiler process, peripheral units and analog controller. The simulator uses a low order linear model for boiler first order models for the peripheral unit. Specifically the model of the analog controller is modularized and transformed to digital form if order to be implemented using a micro-processor board. The experimental results show the usability of the developed simulator for the performance test of the FTCS.

  • This paper presents a design of the real-time preprocessor for CMOS image sensor suitable to the digital camera applications. CMOS image sensor offers some advantages in on-chip integration, system power reduction, and low cost. However, it has a lower-quality image than CCDs. We describe an image enhancement algorithm, which includes color interpolation, color correction, gamma correction, sharpening, and automatic exposure control, to compensate for this disadvantage, and present its efficient hardware architecture to implement on the real-time processor. The presented real-time preprocessor was designed using VHDL, and it contains about 19.2K logic gates. We also implement our system on FPGA chips in order to provide the real-time adjustment and it was successfully tested.

  • Applications of the fiber optic sensing are glowing rapidly, particularly in situations where size, weight, speed, and immunity to electromagnetic interference are important considerations. The fiber optic current sensors have been developed for low frequency(60Hz) metering in electric power systems. But we try measure to high frequency large current by fiber optic current sensor based on Bi substituted rare earth iron garnet. In this paper, we report the linearity to 500 amperes and frequency response of signal processor and a result of detection the standard impulse large current of fiber optic impulse sensor system.
