  • The advancement of communication and networking technologies has enabled e-science and commercial application that often require the transport of large volume of data over wide-area network. Schedulable high-bandwidth low-latency connectivity is required to transport the large volume of data. But the public Internet does not provide predictable service performance. Especially, if data providers and users are far away, dedicated bandwidth channels are needed to support remote process efficiently. Currently several network research projects are in progress to develop dedicated connectionsy sA bandwidth scheduler computes an user requested path based on network topology information and link bandwidth allocationsy In this paper, we have proposed an efficient algorithm for finding the earliest time interval when minimum bandwidth and duration are giveny Our algorithm is experimentally compared with the known algorithm.

  • The researches on the Internet based tole-operation have received increased attention for the past few years. In this paper, we implement the Internet based tele-operating system. In order to transmit robustly the surroundings and control information of the robot, we make a data as a packet type. Also in order to transmit a very large image data, we use PEG compressive algorithm. The central problem in the Internet based tele-operation is the data transmission latency or data-loss. For this specific problem, we introduce an autonomous mobile robot with a 2-layer fuzzy controller. Also, we implement the color detection system and the robot can perceive the object. We verify the efficacy of the 2-layer fuzzy controller by applying it to a robot that is equipped with various input sensors. Because the 2-layer fuzzy controller can control robustly the robot with various inputs and outputs and the cost of control is low, we hope it will be applied to various sectors.

  • The safety applications based on the IEEE 802.11p, periodically transmit the safety-related information to all surrounding vehicles with high reliability and a strict timeline. However, due to the high vehicle mobility, dynamic network topology and limited network resource, the fixed beacon scheduling scheme excess delay and packet loss due to the channel contention and network congestion. With this motivation, we propose a novel beacon scheduling algorithm referred to as spatial-aware(SA) beacon scheduling based on the spatial context information, dynamically rescheduling the beaconing rate like a TDMA channel access scheme. The proposed SA beacon scheduling algorithm was evaluated using different highway traffic scenarios with both a realistic channel model and 802.11p model in our simulation. The simulation results showed that the performance of our proposed algorithm was better than the fixed scheduling in terms of throughput, channel access delay, and channel load. Also, our proposed algorithm is satisfy the requirements of vehicular safety application.

  • As 5G mobile communication services are provided, efforts are being made to provide various services to users with ultra-low latency. This raises interest in edge computing, which can provide high performance computing services near users instead of cloud computing at the network core. This paper presents an efficient operation and management scheme of a micro data center, which is an essential equipment for realizing edge computing. First, we present the functional structure and deployment plan of edge computing. Next, we present the requirements for the micro data centers for edge computing and the operation and management scheme accordingly. Finally, in order to efficiently manage resources in the micro data centers, we present resource management items to be collected and monitored, and propose a performance indicator to measure the energy efficiency.

  • Nowadays, the issue of congestion control in high-speed communication networks becomes critical in view of the bandwidth-delay products for efficient data flow. In particular, the fact that the congestion is often accompanied by the data flow from the high-speed link to low-speed link is important with respect to the stability of closed-loop congestion control. The Virtual-Connection Network (VCN) in Gigabit Ethernet networks is a packet-switching based network capable of implementing cell- based connection, link-by-link flow-controlled connection, and single- or multi-destination virtual connections. VCN described herein differ from the virtual channel in ATM literature in that VCN have link-by-link flow control and can be of multi-destination. VCNs support both connection-oriented and connectionless data link layer traffic. Therefore, the worst collision scenario in Ethernet CSMA/CD with virtual collision brings about end-to-end delay. Gigabit Ethernet networks based on CSMA/CD results in non-deterministic behavior because its media access rules are based on random probability. Hence, it is difficult to obtain any sound mathematical formulation for congestion control without employing random processes or fluid-flow models. In this paper, an analytical method for the design of a congestion control scheme is proposed based on Smith's principle to overcome instability accompanied with the increase of end-to-end delays as well as to avoid cell losses. To this end, mathematical analysis is provided such that the proposed control scheme guarantees the performance improvement with respect to bandwidth and latency for selected network links with different propagation delays. In addition, guaranteed bandwidth is to be implemented by allowing individual stations to burst several frames at a time without intervening round-trip idle time.

  • The GTS(Guaranteed Time Slot) of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, which is the contention free access mechanism, is used for low-latency applications or applications requiring specific data bandwidth. But it has some problems such as delay of service due to FIFS(First In First Service) scheduling. In this paper, we proposes a weight based GTS allocation scheme for fair queuing in IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN. The proposed scheme uses a weight that formed by how much more weight we give to the recent history than to the older history for a new GTS allocation. This scheme reduces service delay time and also guarantees transmission simultaneously within a limited time. The results of the performance analysis shows that our approach improves the performance as compared to the native explicit allocation mechanism defined in the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

  • Objectives : Increasing evidence supports the biological and pharmacological activities of essential oils on the central nervous system such as pain, anxiety, attention, arousal, relaxation, sedation and learning and memory. The purpose of present work is to investigate the protective effect and molecular mechanism of cypress essential oil (CEO) against scopolamine (SCO)-induced cognitive impairments in C57BL/6 mice. Methods : A series of behavior tests such as Morris water maze, passive avoidance, and fear conditioning tests were conducted to monitor learning and memory functions. Immunoblotting and RT-PCR were also performed in the hippocampal tissue to determine the underlying mechanism of CEO. Results : SCO induced cognitive impairments as assessed by decreased step-through latency in passive avoidance test, relatively low freezing time in fear conditioning test, and increased time spent to find the hidden platform in Morris water maze test. Conversely, CEO inhalation significantly reversed the SCO-induced cognitive impairments in C57BL/6 mice comparable to control levels. To elucidate the molecular mechanisms of memory enhancing effect of CEO we have examined the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the hippocampus. CEO effectively elevated the protein as well as mRNA expression of BDNF via activation of cAMP response element binding protein (CREB). Conclusions : Our findings suggest that CEO inhalation effectively restored the SCO-impaired cognitive functions in C56BL/6 mice. This learning and memory enhancing effect of CEO was partly mediated by up-regulation of BDNF via activation of CREB.

  • Sixth generation will exploit satellite, aerial, and terrestrial platforms jointly to improve radio access capability and unlock the support of on-demand edge cloud services in three-dimensional (3D) space, by incorporating mobile edge computing (MEC) functionalities on aerial platforms and low-orbit satellites. This will extend the MEC support to devices and network elements in the sky and forge a space-borne MEC, enabling intelligent, personalized, and distributed on-demand services. End users will experience the impression of being surrounded by a distributed computer, fulfilling their requests with apparently zero latency. In this paper, we consider an architecture that provides communication, computation, and caching (C3) services on demand, anytime, and everywhere in 3D space, integrating conventional ground (terrestrial) base stations and flying (non-terrestrial) nodes. Given the complexity of the overall network, the C3 resources and management of aerial devices need to be jointly orchestrated via artificial intelligence-based algorithms, exploiting virtualized network functions dynamically deployed in a distributed manner across terrestrial and non-terrestrial nodes.

  • In the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, the mobile services require 100 times faster connections. One of the promising 5G technologies is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In NOMA, the users share the channel resources, so that the more users can be served simultaneously. There are several advantages offered by NOMA, such as higher spectrum efficiency and low transmission latency, compared to orthogonal multiple access (OMA), which is usually used in the fourth generation (4G) mobile networks, for example, long term evolution (LTE). In this paper, we compare the receivers for NOMA. The standard NOMA receiver, the non-SIC NOMA receiver, and the symmetric superposition coding (SC) NOMA receiver are compared. Specifically, it is shown that the performance of the standard receiver is the best, whereas the performances of the non-SIC receiver and symmetric SC receiver are dependent on the power allocation.

  • As digital contents based on 3D graphics are increased, the requirement for low power 3D graphic hardware for mobile devices is increased. We design a transformation engine for mobile 3D graphic processor. We propose a simplified transformation engine for mobile 3D graphic processor. The area of the transformation engine is reduced by merging a mapping transformation unit into a projective transformation unit and by replacing a clipping unit with a selection unit. It consists of a viewing transformation unit a projective transformation unit a divide by w nit, and a selection unit. It can process 32 bit floating point format of the IEEE-754 standard or a reduced 24 bit floating point format. It has a pipelined architecture so that a vertex is processed every 4 cycles except for the initial latency. The RTL code is verified using an FPGA.
