저강도 복합운동프로그램이 여성노인의 일상생활체력과 낙상효능감에 미치는 영향 (Effect of a Low-Intensity Combined Exercise Program using Props on the Daily Living Fitness and Quality of Life of Elderly Women)

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a low-intensity combined exercise program on daily physical fitness parameters such as balance, flexibility, muscle strength, and fear of falling of elderly women in the community. METHODS: This study assigned 30 elderly women randomly into two groups: The control and experimental groups. The control group (n = 15) underwent routine gait. The experimental group (n = 15) underwent the low-intensity combined exercise. The exercise program in this study comprising combined exercise, including balance, flexibility, muscle strength training, and the exercise program using props was conducted twice a week for 8 weeks. RESULTS: The average age of the control and experimental groups was 77.27 years and 78.33 years, respectively. There were significant differences in static balance (t = -4.167, p < .001), dynamic balance (t = 2.463, p < .001), (t = -3.870, p < .001), (t = -2.262, p < .001), (t = -5.732, p < .001), (t = -6.573, p < .001), and fear of falling (t = -5.129, p < .001). CONCLUSION: The results show that low-intensity combined exercise is an effective intervention that improves physical health fear of falling in older women. The combined exercise program was found to be more effective in terms of physical function and fall-related psychological function compared to the control group that only walked.

무용기반 저강도 복합운동요법이 당뇨노인의 생리적 지표에 미치는 효과 (Physiological Index of the Elderly with Diabetes According to Dance Based Low Intensity Combined Kinesitherapy)

  • 본 연구는 제2형 당뇨병에 있어서 저강도의 복합적 운동요법을 시행하는 것이 효과적이라는 점과 무용-동작활동이 갖는 방법론적 측면의 유용성에 관한 이론적 근거 하에, 사전 동질성 검증을 거친 노인 당뇨환자에게 12주간 무용-동작활동과 저강도 복합운동을 처방한 실험군(병행군)과 저강도 복합운동만을 처방한 대조군(운동군)의 공복혈당 및 혈중지질의 사후검사 점수의 차이를 독립표본 t-test로 분석하였다. 연구의 주요 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공복시 혈당은 집단별 사전-사후 차이에서 실험군의 차이가 대조군보다 큰 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 총 콜레스테롤은 집단별 사전-사후 차이에서 실험군이 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 중성지방은 집단별 사전-사후 차이에서 실험군과 대조군 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 고밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤은 집단별 사전-사후 차이에서 실험군과 대조군 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 저밀도지단백콜레스테롤은 집단별 사전-사후 차이에서 실험군이 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결국 본 연구는 기존에 다루지 못한 제 2형 당뇨노인에 있어서 무용-동작활동과 저강도 복합운동의 병행 효과를 생리적 지표를 이용하여 정량적으로 입증하였다는데 의의가 있다.

20대의 혈류제한 저항운동이 위팔두갈래근 활성도, 피로도 및 혈역학적 변인에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Blood Flow Restriction Resistance Exercise in Twenties on Biceps Activity, Fatigue and Hemodynamic Variables )

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of lowintensity resistance exercise combined with blood flow restriction on muscle activity and muscle fatigue to determine if such a combination may be an alternative to high-intensity resistance exercise in maintaining the muscle mass and strength and preventing degenerative loss of skeletal muscle and to provide basic data for presenting the effectiveness of exercise. METHODS: The interventions were provided for five weeks, four sessions a week, once a day, 60 minutes a session to Experimental group I (n = 13), in which low-intensity resistance exercise was applied by combining blood flow restriction with the biceps curl and experimental group II (n = 12), in which only high-intensity resistance exercise was applied. As a pre-test, the biceps brachii muscle activity and fatigue were measured by surface electromyography, and the hemodynamic variables, such as blood pressure and heart rate, were measured. The post-test was performed identically to the pre-test and compared and analyzed with the pre-test. RESULTS: A significant difference within-group was observed in the biceps brachii muscle activity and fatigue in experimental group I and only in biceps brachii activity in experimental group II. No significant differences were observed between the two groups. CONCLUSION: Since the low-intensity resistance exercise combined with blood flow restriction has similar effects to high-intensity resistance exercise, it is considered an alternative for improving muscle function in groups unable to perform high-intensity resistance exercise.

만성요통 대상자의 통증 강도, 장애, 통증 관련 두려움에 대한 복합운동과 안정화운동의 효과 비교: 무작위 대조시험 (Effects of Multimodal vs. Stabilization Exercises on Pain Intensity, Disability, and Pain-induced Fear in People with Chronic Low Back Pain: A Randomized Controlled Trial)

  • Purpose: We investigated the effects of multimodal vs. stabilization exercises on chronic low back pain. Methods: Study participants were randomly assigned to a multimodal exercise (n = 20) or a stabilization exercise group (n = 20). Participants in the multimodal exercise group performed stabilization, stretching, and endurance exercises, whereas those in the stabilization exercise group performed only stabilization exercises. Participants in both groups performed the exercises for 1 hour thrice a week for 5 weeks. The following outcomes were evaluated: pain intensity (numeric rating scale), disability (the Oswestry Disability Index [ODI] and the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire [RMDQ]), pain-induced fear (the Fear of Daily Activities Questionnaire [FDAQ], the Fear-Avoidance Belief Questionnaire [FABQ], and the Tampa scale for kinesiophobia-11 [TSK-11]). Outcome measures were evaluated at baseline and after intervention. Results: Significant post-intervention improvement was observed in pain intensity and the RMDQ and FDAQ scores in both groups (p < 0.01). The post-intervention ODI, FABQ, and TSK-11 scores were improved in the multimodal exercise group (p < 0.01). Additionally, significant differences were observed in pain intensity, as well as in the ODI, FDAQ, and FABQ scores in the multimodal exercise group compared with these findings in the stabilization exercise group (p < 0.01). Conclusion: The multimodal and stabilization exercise programs reduced pain intensity, disability, and pain-induced fear. Compared with stabilization exercises, multimodal exercises more effectively reduced pain intensity, disability, and pain-induced fear. This study highlights that musculoskeletal rehabilitation for people with chronic low back pain should include a multimodal exercise program.

Effect of High-Intensity Complex Exercise Program Using Whole-Body Vibration and Respiratory Resistance for Low Back Pain Patients with High Obesity

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of high-intensity complex exercise program using whole-body vibration (WBV) and respiratory resistance on pain and dysfunction, psychosocial level, balance ability, and pulmonary function in low back pain (LBP) patients with high obesity. Design: A randomized controlled trial Methods: A total of 44 LBP patients withhigh obesity (body mass index, BMI≥30kg/m2) were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=22) and a control group (n=22). Both groups underwent a lumbar stabilization exercise program. In addition, the experimental group implemented the high-intensity complex exercise program combined with WBV and respiratory resistance. In order to compare the effects depending on the intervention methods, numeric pain rating scale (NRPS), Roland-Morris disability questionnaire (RMDQ), fear-avoidance beliefs questionnaire (FABQ), balance ability, and pulmonary function were used for measurement. Results: Both groups showed significant differences in NRPS, RMDQ, FABQ, balance ability before and after intervention (p<0.05). In addition, the experimental groupshowed significant difference in the amount of change in RMDQ, balance ability and pulmonary function values than the control group (p<0.05). Conclusions: High-intensity complex exercise program using WBV and respiratory resistance has been proven to be an effective and clinically useful method to decrease dysfunction, increase balance ablilty, and pulmonary function for LBP patients with high obesity.

전기근육자극을 적용한 무릎 폄 저항운동 시 넙다리곧은근의 두께 변화에 미치는 즉각적 효과 (The immediate effect of electrical muscle stimulation on rectus femoris thickness during resisted knee extension exercise)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 전기근육자극을 적용한 무릎 폄 저항운동 시 넙다리곧은근의 두께 변화에 미치는 즉각적 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 20명의 건강한 성인을 대상으로 유사실험 단일집단 검사전-검사후 설계로 진행하였다. 대상자의 양쪽 넙다리 폄의 1RM을 탄력밴드를 이용해 간접적으로 측정하고, 탄력밴드를 이용한 무릎 폄 저항운동은 오른쪽 다리에 고강도(1RM의 80%)로, 왼쪽 다리에는 저강도(1RM의 50%로 전기근육자극을 같이 적용)로 5세트를 적용하였다. 근육 두께 측정은 초음파로 운동 전후에 넙다리곧은근(1/2 부위, 1/4 부위)에 측정하였다. 사전 테스트와 사후 테스트 사이에 전기근육자극을 적용한 탄력밴드 저강도 운동에 넙다리곧은근 두께가 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<.05). 본 연구의 결과는 전기근육자극을 결합한 탄력밴드 저강도 저항운동이 넙다리곧은근 두께를 증가시키는 데 즉각적인 효과가 있었다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 앞으로 고강도 저항운동을 할 수 없는 노령층에 전기근육자극을 적용한 저강도 저항운동을 접목하는 중재 방법의 효과에 대한 검증과 다양한 신체 부위별 운동프로그램 개발도 필요하다 여겨진다.

운동요법과 한방치료의 병행치료가 비만환자의 신체구성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Aerobic Exercise and Weight Training Combined with Oriental Medicine on Body Composition in Obese Patients)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the aerobic exercise and weight training combined with VLCD(very low calorie diet) and chegameuyiin-tang(體減薏苡仁湯) on the change of the body composition during 15 days of hospitalization treatment. Methods: Twenty four female obese patients were observed. Exercise regimen was composed with aerobic exercise and weight training program, and the intensity of aerobic exercise were 50% HRmax(maximal heart rate) twice time a day and weight training were 50% 1RM(one repetition maximum) a day. All subjects diet regimen was VLCD of 600kcal/day. Results & Conclusions. 1. There was no significant difference between the aerobic exercise and the weight training groups in the change of body weight, fat mass, and percent body fat, waist-hip ratio, body mass index and resting metabolic rate. 2. In the comparison of the change rate of FFM(fat free mass), weight training group preserved FFM better than aerobic-exercise-only-group with no statistical significance.

운동 형태에 따른 노인 여성들의 건강관련 체력의 변화 (The changes of health-related fitness for the elderly women depend on the types of exercise)

  • 본 연구는 운동 형태에 따른 여성 노인들의 건강관련체력 변화를 규명하여 만성질환을 관리하고 상해를 예방하는데 도움을 주는 운동을 선택하는데 자료를 제공하는데 있다, B 광역시에 거주하는 72-78세의 노인여성을 통제그룹 10명, 유산소 운동그룹 10명, 저항 운동그룹 10명, 복합 운동그룹 10명으로 분류하여 8주간 주 3회, 50분/회 운동을 실시하였다. 운동 강도는 모든 운동그룹에 동일하게 RPE 11-13으로 설정하였다. 하지근력, 동적평형성, 정적평형성, 그리고 민첩성은 모든 운동 그룹에서 운동 후 유의하게 향상된 결과를 보였으나, 심폐지구력은 유산소 운동 그룹과 복합운동그룹에서만 운동 후 향상된 결과가 나타났다. 결론적으로 여성 노인들에게 운동 강도가 같다면 어떠한 운동 형태든지 일상생활과 관련된 체력의 향상에 도움을 줄 수 있는 것으로 확인되었으며, 복합 운동이 노인들에게 보다 적합한 운동 형태라 할 수 있을 것이다.

Combined effects of food and exercise on anaphylaxis

  • Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIAn) is induced by different types and various intensities of physical activity, and is distinct from food allergies. It has been shown that consumption of allergenic food followed by exercise causes FDEIAn symptoms. Intake of allergenic food or medication before exercise is a major predisposing factor for FDEIAn. Urticaria and severe allergic reactions are general symptoms of FDEIAn. Dermatological tests and serum IgE assays are the typical prescreening methods, and have been used for several decades. However, these screening tests are not sufficient for detecting or preventing FDEIAn. It has been found that exercise may stimulate the release of mediators from IgE-dependent mast cells that can result in FDEIAn when a certain threshold level has been exceeded. Mast cell degradation might be a major factor to induce FDEIAn but this has not been determined. A number of foods have been reported to be involved in the onset of FDEIAn including wheat, eggs, chicken, shrimp, shellfish, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. It is also known that aspirin increases the occurrence of type I allergy symptoms when combined with specific foods. Moreover, high intensity and frequent exercise are more likely to provoke an attack than low intensity and less frequent exercise. In this paper, we present the current views of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying FDEIAn within the context of exercise immunology. We also present a detailed FDEIAn definition along with etiologic factors and medical treatment for cholinergic urticaria (UC) and exercise-induced anaphylaxis (EIA).

테이핑과 병행한 스위스볼 운동이 임신성 요통 환자의 통증과 기능장애 및 삶의 질에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Swiss Ball Exercise Combined with Taping on Pain, Disability, and Quality of Life in Women with Pregnancy-Related Low Back Pain)

  • 본 연구는 4주간 테이핑을 병행한 스위스 볼 운동이 임신성 요통환자의 통증과 기능장애 및 삶의 질에 미치는 효과를 규명하기 위하여 실시되었다. 단일 맹검 및 사전 무작위 임상시험으로 진행되었으며, 16명의 임신성 요통 환자는 무작위로 테이핑과 스위스 볼 운동군(n=8)과 테이핑과 신장 운동군(n=8)으로 배정되었다. 모든 대상자는 허리에 테이핑을 적용하였다. 추가적으로 테이핑과 스위스 볼 운동군은 스위스 볼 운동을 하루 30분, 주 5회, 4주간 시행하였고 테이핑과 신장 운동군은 같은 시간동안 스트레칭 운동을 적용하였다. 통증은 시각사상척도(VAS)를 사용하여 측정하였고, 기능장애는 Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), 삶의 질은 Short-Form 36 items (SF-36)을 사용하였다. 훈련 후 테이핑과 스위스 볼 운동군이 테이핑과 신장 운동군에 비해 통증과 기능장애, 삶의 질이 유의하게 개선되었다(p<.05). 본 연구는 테이핑을 병행한 스위스 볼운동이 임산부의 요통과 기능장애 및 삶의 질을 효과적으로 향상시킴을 증명하였다.
