The air supply system has a significant effect on the efficiency of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) systems. The performance and efficiency of automotive PEMFC systems are greatly influenced by their air supply system configurations. This study deals with the system simulation of automotive PEMFC systems using MATLAB/Simulink framework. In this study, a low-pressure operating PEMFC system adopting blower sub-module (turbo-blower) is modeled to investigate the effects of stack operating temperature and air stoichiometry on the parasitic power and efficiency of automotive PEMFC systems. In addition, the PEMFC net system efficiency and parasitic power of air supply system are mainly compared for the two types (low-pressure operating and high-pressure operating) of automotive PEMFC systems under the same net power conditions. It is suggested that the obtained results from this system approach can be applied for establishing the novel operating strategies for FC vehicles.
DC distribution has several differences compared to AC distribution. DC distribution has a higher efficiency than AC distribution when distributing electricity at the same voltage level. Accordingly, power can be transferred further with low-voltage DC. In addition, power flow in a DC grid system is produced by only a voltage difference in magnitude. Owing to these differences, operation of a DC grid system significantly differs from that of an AC system. In this paper, the power flow problem in a bipolar-type DC grid with unbalanced load conditions is organized and solved. Control strategy of energy storage system on a slow time scale with power references obtained by solving an optimization problem regarding the DC grid is then proposed. The proposed strategy is verified with computer simulations.
For now, there are some low frequency oscillations in the power system which feature low frequency oscillation with positive damping and cannot be explained by traditional low frequency oscillation mechanisms. Concerning this issue, the dynamic damping effect is put forward on the basis of the power-angle curve and the study of damping torque in this article. That is, in the process of oscillation, damping will dynamically change and will be less than that of the stable operating point especially when the angle of the stable operating point and the oscillation amplitude are large. In a situation with weak damping, the damping may turn negative when the oscillation amplitude increases to a certain extent, which may result in an amplitude-increasing oscillation. Finally, the simulation of the two-machine two-area system verifies the arguments in this paper which may provide new ideas for the analysis and control of some unclear low frequency phenomena.

Since most education organizations such as Universities have a plenty of PCs, much electric power can be wasted if their power states are not managed properly. This paper introduces the RPM(Remote Power Management) software system implemented to reduce a waste of PC power in Universities. The System manager can monitor power state of all PCs in a University and turn off PCs or change power states of PCs to low power states. The RPM consists of three software modules. First, Power Controller, which is installed in each user PC, saves the power by changing low power state by utilizing low power algorithm proposed in this paper. Also it reports power state of its PC to Power Server on the state changed. Second, Power Server module gathers power state information of all PCs, stores them in a DB, and sends all or some parts of the information to Power Viewer whenever the manager asks. The manager can turn off or change a certain PC to low power state. We evaluated the performance of power saving for the RPM and the result showed achievement of 40% power saving.

According to convert from analogue TV signal to Digital TV signal on 31 December 2012, research on utilization of TV white space (TVWS) has been being actively proceed. It is expected that various low power devices use the TVWS, so interference between DTV relay system and low power devices using in TVWS can be occurred. Therefore, in this paper, we analyzed the interference between DTV relay system and low power devices. So, we calculated a minimum coupling loss (MCL) and compare the resulting value with a path loss for determining whether there exists a potential interference or not. The minimum separation distance is determined when the path loss is larger than the MCL. In the simulation results, we setup the victim and interferer system as DTV relay system and low power devices, respectively.
In this paper, we described the integrated monitoring system for low-voltage panel boards. This system consists of three parts, a panel board controller, an integrated monitoring unit and a remote PC. The panel board controller which was made of CT/PT unit, control unit and power supply is able to transmit variable parameter for monitoring and diagnosis of low voltage branch circuits. Also, the integrated monitoring unit was collected monitoring data from panel boards and displayed on the touch panel.
By combining a wind turbine with an energy storage system (ESS), we are able to attenuate the intermittent wind power characteristic making the power derived from a wind farm dispatchable. This paper evaluates the influence of the phase delay of the low-pass filter in the conventional smoothing power control on the ESS capacity; longer phase delays require a larger ESS capacity. In order to eliminate the effect of the phase delay, we optimize the power dispatch using a zero-phase low-pass filter that results in a non-delayed response in the power dispatch. The proposed power dispatching method significantly minimizes the ESS capacity. In addition, the zero-phase low-pass filter, which is a symmetrical forward-reverse finite impulse response type, is designed simply with a small number of coefficients. Therefore, the proposed dispatching method is not only optimal, but can also be feasibly applied to real wind farms. The efficacy of the proposed dispatching method is verified by integrating a 3 MW wind turbine into the grid using wind data measured on Jeju Island.

The recent technology of Wind Power Generation in the world is rapidly developed better than the past time. The extra-large wind power generation system of the MW-class and the large wind power generation system of the hundreds kW-class were developed and became for common use. So, this paper is basic experiment for wind power generation at low wind, and aimed for small wind power generation system.

This paper presents research on low-voltage microgrids to maintain a continuous power supply to critical loads on grid-connected islands in Korea. The low-voltage microgrids of this paper focused on that changes public office buildings into uninterrupted microgrids by autonomous operation. For this, a microgrid controller (MGC) and a power conditioning system (PCS) that allow a seamless transfer between grid-connected and grid-isolated operation are proposed. The proposed PCS operates with a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) switch and employs a simple structure. It supplies power continuously without operators through a coordinated operation between MGC and PCS. In addition, proposed MG has a schedule operation for minimizing electricity charges and provides ancillary services that enable the utilization of resources according to the operation purpose of utility distribution networks. To demonstrate the uninterrupted low-voltage microgrid proposed in this study, a microgrid was implemented and tested in a public office building in Anjwa Island, Jeollanam-do in Korea. A seamless, autonomous operation history, despite system disturbances, was obtained through a long-term demonstration of operation. The results showed that the proposed microgrid technology can be used to achieve energy resilience in grid-connected island areas.
