This study aims to provide fundamental data to develop anti-aging programs in the aspect of skin care. To attain the goal, manual therapy and low-power laser therapy were conducted separately to 8 women inthe 40's and 50's. They received the facial massage total 8 times twice a week for 4 weeks. According to the result of calculating the average and standard deviation by measuring skin elasticity of the area below their eyes and cheeks and also melanin around eyes and cheeks and conducting comparative analysis, both groups showed significant increase in elasticity and their melanin decreased significantly. The low-power laser therapy showed higher values than the manual therapy both in elasticity increase and melanin reduction; thus, it was analyzed that the low-power laser therapy more highly affects skin elasticity and the amount of melanin in facial skin is greater than that in manual therapy. Therefore, it was analyzed that skin care using low level laser can be significant in anti-aging of facial skin and can be utilized as a program for a new type of skin care.

1.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ DFB with absorption grating of 1.55${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ InGaAsP layer was fabricated. This new type of DFB laser shows self-plusation for DC operation. At low level of injection the relation between the pulsation frequency and the injection current shows similar behavior with the relaxation oscillation of ordinary laser and at high level of injection the pulsation frequency decreases compared to the relaxation oscillation. Period doubling, period 3 and 4 were observed for AC modulation. In case of period doubling the waveform shows only one pulse within a period without any accompanying subsidiary pulses and the oscillation frequency was quite stable. The pulse widths as short as 58.5 ps was achieved with AC modulation. We propose the time division multiplexing application of this kind of DFB laser.
$SiO_2$ and SiON films are formed by Laser CVD for inter-level dielectrics in submicron VLSI. This technique is noticeable that film formation can be done at low temperatures, below $300^{\circ}C$ with less damage. An ArF Excimer Laser with wave length of 193nm is used to excite and dissociate reactant gases. After film formation growth rate, refractive index, I-V curve, and step coverage characteristics of the films were evaluated.

Background and Objectives Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is used widely to promote hair growth in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). This study examined the clinical efficacy and safety of a home-use LLLT device with a newly designed array of light sources and software optimized for individual types of AGA. Materials and Methods The study was a randomized, double-blind, sham device-controlled trial. Forty-eight subjects (39 men and nine women) were assigned randomly in a 2:1 ratio to use either the test device (LG Pra'L HGN1, LG electronics, Korea) or sham device. The subjects used the LLLT device three times a week for 16 weeks. Phototrichogram was used to measure the hair density and hair thickness at 0, 8, and 16-weeks. Adverse events were closely monitored. Results After 16 weeks of using the device, the test group showed a significant increase in hair density and hair thickness compared to the control. In the test group, the hair density increased 6.96 counts/cm2 at eight weeks and 13.67 counts/cm2 at 16 weeks from the baseline. The hair thickness increased 7.21 ㎛ at eight weeks and 11.80 ㎛ at 16 weeks compared to the baseline. Conclusion The home-use LLLT device with a novel array of light sources and an individualized program according to the types of hair loss appears to be an effective and safe treatment modality for both male and female AGA patients.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) with a diode gallium-aluminum-arsenide (Ga-Al-As) low-level laser device on the healing and attachment of titanium implants in bone. Materials and Methods: Thirteen New Zealand white male rabbits weighing $3.0{\pm}0.5kg$ were used for this study. Dental titanium implants (3.75 mm in diameter and 8.5 mm in length, US II RBM plus fixture; Osstem, Seoul, Korea) were implanted into both femurs of each rabbit. The rabbits were randomly divided into a LLLT group and a control group. The LLLT was initiated immediately after surgery and then repeated daily for 7 consecutive days in the LLLT group. Six weeks and 12 weeks after implantation, we evaluated and compared the osseointegration of the LLLT group and control group, using histomorphometric analysis, removal torque testing, and resonance frequency analysis (RFA). The results were statistically significant when the level of probability was 0.05 or less based on a non-parametric Mann-Whitney U-test. Results: The implant survival rate was about 96%. Histologically and histomorphometrically, we observed that the titanium implants were more strongly attached in LLLT group than in control group. However, there was no significant difference between the LLLT group and control group in removal torque or RFA. Conclusion: Histologically, LLLT might promote cell-level osseointegration of titanium implants, but there was no statistically significant effects.
This study was performed to investigate the effects of infrared and visible light laser irradiation on cell viability of human gingival fibroblast. For the present study, the author used cultured fibroblast originated from sound gingiva which were fifth of sixth passage. Laser machine utilized here were stomalaser which irradiate infrared (GaAs diode) and red (HeNe) laser in turn with pulse wave pattern or continuous wave pattern, and the machine had several frequency mode presented by regeneration, relaxation and analgesic modalities. Cultured fibroblast samples were divided by this modalities of cell counts and laser exposure time which were 7-seconds of 150 seconds, respectively. 1 day after laser irradiation, each cell-well was treated with MTT and measured optical density with ELISA. The obtained results were as follows : 1. There was a tendency of increasing optical density in proportion to irradiation time in groups of $1\times10^4$ cell per well but in groups of $5\times10^3$ cell per well, reverse phenomena were observed. 2. The difference of optical density according to frequency modalities were not showed significantly except several cases in groups of $5\times10^3$ cell per well. 3. In general, cell viability of cultured human gingival fibroblast wer not showed consistent feature by low level laser irradiation.

Decontamination of systems, structures and components (SSC) during the decommissioning of a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) can be for a variety of reasons. The main reasons for decontamination are: to reduce the contamination of SSC to a reasonably low level, to reduce the potential for the spread of contaminants into the environment and to reduce the cost of disposal due to the reduced level of contamination in a particular SSC. The decontamination technique can be aggressive or non-aggressive depending on the intent after the decontamination process. Aggressive decontamination technique is used when the intent is not to reuse the SSC while a non-aggressive decontamination technique is used with the intent of SSC reuse. For different SSCs there are different decontamination techniques that can be used, each having its own advantages and drawbacks. Metal components such as pipes in the nuclear power plant account for a large amount of nuclear wastes generated. Some of these wastes can be reused if the contaminant level is reduced to an acceptable level. Laser ablation is a non-aggressive decontamination technique that can be used to reduce the contamination in pipes to an acceptable level with no secondary waste generated during the process. The operation and control of a laser ablation device must be precise to achieve a high decontamination factor. This precision can be achieved by a well-designed motion control system. For this purpose, a motion control system was developed consisting of two parts: the first part being the precise control of the laser ablation device inside the pipe and the second part is the control of the laser ablation device outside the pipe. This paper describes the Systems Engineering approach for the development process of a motion control system for the Laser decontamination system.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exterior vascular laser irradiation therapy by live blood analysis. Methods: We analysed the changing forms of the live blood sample with a microscope before and after exterior vascular laser irradiation therapy of the blood. Results: Rouleau of red cells, erythrocyte aggregation of red cells, thrombocyte aggregation, uric acid crystals, red crystals, and protoplasts in blood were decreased significantly after exterior vascular laser irradiation therapy. Conclusions: This study suggests that exterior vascular laser irradiation will have positive effects in eliminating various effete matters in blood and will have efficacy in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular system disorders and hyperlipidemia, caused by effete matters, or numbness and arthralgia caused by blood stagnancy and blood circulation disorder.
