수소기관의 이상점화에 의한 역화발생 (Backfire Occurrence by Abnormal Electric Discharge in Hydrogen Fueled Engine)

  • Because of low flame ion density in hydrogen-air mixture, many residual electric energy could be existed in the ignition system of hydrogen engine, If these residual energy discharged abnormally during intake stroke, it may be the cause of backfire occurrence which is serious problem in development of hydrogen fueled engine but unsolved in spite of many concerned research on it. In this study, the possibility of backfire occurrence by abnormal electric discharge and countermeasure of that were investigated by using the experimental single cylinder hydrogen fueled engine with two types of ignition system. The results show that abnormal electric discharge appeared in low load with low ion density and then results in back fire occurrence, It is also seen that countermeasure method installing larger earth resistance in high tension code is effective to control abnormal electric discharge.

흡기관 분사식 수소 SI기관의 희박과급 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of the Lean Boosting in a Hydrogen-fueled Engine with the SI and the External Mixture)

  • In order to achieve simultaneously the ultra-low NOx, the high power and the high efficiency in a hydrogen-fueled engine with SI and the external mixture, the effects of low temperature combustion, performance and exhaust are compared and analyzed by the application of the lean boosting. As the results, the decrease rate of the high temperature in the hydrogen is less decreased than the other fuels by high constant-volume specific heat. However, when the conditions of 1.7bar and ${\Phi}=0.33$ are reached by the lean boosting, the maximum gas temperature of hydrogen is decreased under the temperature of NOx formation and it is possible to stabilize combustion below 2% of COVimep. Also, at that condition, it is feasible to achieve simultaneously NOx-free and the power of gasoline level. Therefore, it is found that the lean boosting is useful in the hydrogen-fueled engine.

3D 매트릭스 개질기를 활용한 모사 바이오가스 부분산화 및 수증기 영향 연구 (The Study of Effect of Steam on Partial Oxidation for Model Biogas using 3D Matrix Reformer)

  • New type of syngas generator based on the partial oxidation of biogas in volumetric permeable matrix reformers was suggested as an effective, adaptable and relatively simple way of syngas and hydrogen production for various low-scale applications. The use of biogas as an energy source reduces the chance of possible emission of two greenhouse gases, $CH_4$ and $CO_2$, into the atmosphere at the same time. Its nature of being a reproducible energy source makes its use even more attractive. Parametric screening studies were achieved as air ratio, biogas component ratio, input gas temperature, Steam/Carbon ratio. As the air ratio was low, the production of the hydrogen and carbon monoxide increased in the condition that 3D matrix reformer maintains the stable driving. As it was the simulation biogas in which the carbon dioxide content is high, the flammable range became narrow. And the flammable range was extended if the injected gas was preheated. The stable driving was possible in the low air ratio. The amount of hydrogen production was increased as S/C ratio increased.

  • Hydrogen safety is one of the key technical issue with growing attention on utilization of hydrogen energy. This study is aimed to predict behavior of momentum-controlling buoyant jet and flame caused by hydrogen leakage from a high pressured tank. Approximate solutions were derived for the case of turbulent buoyant jet and diffusion flame in still air. In case of hydrogen jet with low Froude number (100-4000), computed jet trajectories were compared with experimental data and showed good agreement with them. Jet and flame trajectories and flame length of hydrogen are predicted and compared with the buoyant flame of propane. The results well show that buoyancy is dominant in the range of low Froude number, while initial momentum is dominant in the range of high Froude number. That effect is more distinct for hydrogen flame than the case of propane.

  • In this study, mesh-type PECVD system was suggested to minimize the hydrogen concentration. The main structural difference between the triode system and a conventional system is that a mesh was attached to the substrate holding electrode. We investigated several conditions to compare with conventional PECVD. The main effect of mesh was to minimize the substrate damage by ion bombardment and to enhance the surface reaction to induce hydrogen desorption. It was also found that hydrogen concentration decreased but deposition rate increased as increasing applied dias. Applied DC bias enhanced sputtering process. Intense ion bombardment causes the weakly bonded hydrogen or hydrogen-containing species to leave the growing film and increased adatom mobility. Furthermore, addition of hydrogen gas enhance the surface diffusion of adatom. The structural properties of poly-Si films were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).

The Interaction of Hydrogen Atom with ZnO: A Comparative Study of Two Polar Surfaces

  • The interaction of hydrogen with ZnO single crystal surfaces, ZnO(0001) and ZnO(000-1), has been investigated using a temperature programmed desorption (TPD) technique. Both surfaces do not interact with molecular hydrogen. When the ZnO(0001) is exposed to atomic hydrogen at 370 K, hydrogen is adsorbed in the surface and desorption takes place at around 460 K and 700 K. In ZnO(000-1), the desorption peaks are observed at around 440 K and 540 K. In both surfaces, as the atomic hydrogen exposure is further increased, the intensity of the low-temperature peak reaches maximum but the intensity of the high-temperature peak keeps increasing. In ZnO(000-1), the existence of hydrogen bonding to the surface O atoms and the bulk hydrogen has been confirmed by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). When the Zn(0001) surface is exposed to atomic hydrogen at around 200 K, a new $H_2$ desorption peak has been observed at around 250 K. The intensity of the desorption feature at 250 K is much greater than that of the desorption feature at 460 K. This low-temperature desorption feature indicates hydrogen is bonded to surface Zn atoms. We will report the effect of the ZnO structure on the adsorption and bulk diffusion of hydrogen.

  • 전 세계적으로 수소에너지에 대한 관심이 점차 증가함에 따라 수소 생산, 저장, 운송, 이용 분야에서 응용 기술의 개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 국내에서도 울산 수소타운을 조성하여 시범운영 중에 있어 수소에너지 응용처 확대에 대한 가능성을 높이고 있다. 울산 수소타운은 가스 사용 압력에 따라 고압부와 저압부로 구분할 수 있는데 고압부는 '고압가스안전관리법'을 적용하여 안전관리를 하고 있고 저압부는 '수소타운 시범사업의 안전관리에 관한 지침'을 적용하여 운영 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 울산 수소타운 내 0.1MPa 이하 저압 수소 사용시설의 안전관리 효율성 향상을 위해 저압 수소사용 시설 및 안전관리 항목 분석을 통해 안전관리 방향성을 검토하고 향후 개선 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 국내 수소타운 활성화 및 안전 관리 효율성 증대에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
