We studied soil components, methane production, the number of methanogens, and T-RFLP patterns dependent on agricultural methods with the change of seasons. There is no regular increase or decrease tendency of the most soil components followed by sampling period. And the water content in soil was higher in October than May. Also a lot of methanogens existed in soil, and acetotrophs were relatively of smaller number than hydogenotrophs and formate utilizing methanogens using MPN (most probable number) enumeration. In the experiment using the formate, it was used from the first week, and only a minute amount was detecte after four weeks. However in the acetate, it was increased until the third week, and after that was consumed. And there was higher methane production for all soil samples which administered with the hydrogen spike. The activity of methanogens was higher in the organic and low-agrichemical agricultural method samples, and the organic agricultural method had high methanogen activity among the other samples. A result of T-RFLP pattern of mcrA gene digested with Sau96I, methanogen community have a little relation with agricultural methods and seasons. This results also agreed to no critical difference the soil components dependent on agricultural methods, but some analytical data have a positive relationship with a agricultural methods. Therefor we could concluded that the comparison study of community for soil bacteria sufficiently could be useful for the microbiological indicator.
Here, we demonstrated simple nucleic acid, RNA, concentration method using polymer micro chip containing glass bead ($100\;{\mu}m$). Polymer micro chip was fabricated by PDMS ($1.5\;cm\;{\times}\;1.5\;cm$, $100\;{\mu}m$ in the height) including pillar structure ($160\;{\mu}m\;(I)\;{\times}\;80\;{\mu}m\;(w)\;{\times}\;100\;{\mu}m\;(h)$, gap size $50\;{\mu}m$) for blocking micro bead. RNA could be adsorbed on micro glass bead at low pH by hydrogen bonding whereas RNA was released at high pH by electrostatic force between silica surface and RNA. Amount of glass beads and flow rate were optimized in aspects of adsorption and desorption of RNA. Adsorption and desorption rate was measured with real time PCR. This concentrated RNA was applied to amplification micro chip in which NASBA (Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification) was performed. As a result, E.coli O157 : H7 in the concentration of 10 c.f.u./10 mL was successfully detected by these serial processes (concentration and amplification) with polymer micro chips. It implies this simple concentration method using polymer micro chip can be directly applied to ultra sensitive method to measure viable bacteria and virus in clinical samples as well as environmental samples.
In order to lower a reaction temperature with high conversions for simultaneous catalytic reduction of NO and $N_2O$ over Pd-Rh supported mixed metal oxide honeycomb catalysts, $H_2$ or CO was utilized as a reductant. When using the reductants, the effects of reaction conditions were examined in NO and $N_2O$ conversions, where reaction temperatures, concentrations of the reductants and oxygen and the concentration ratio of $N_2O$ to NO were varied. In using $H_2$ reductant, larger than 50% of NO and $N_2O$ conversions was observed at the temperatures below $200^{\circ}C$ in absence of $O_2$. In using CO reductant, NO and $N_2O$ conversions increased from the temperatures higher than $200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$, respectively. However, in use of both reductants, NO and $N_2O$ conversions decreased with increasing oxygen concentration. As a result, $H_2$ reductant could reduce simultaneously NO and $N_2O$ at relatively lower reaction temperature than CO. Also, NO and $N_2O$ conversions were less influenced by using $H_2$ reductant than CO one. Concentration ratio between NO and $N_2O$ did not affect their conversions regardless the type of reductants. Pretreatment of the catalyst in $H_2$ was more effective in simultaneous reduction of NO and $N_2O$ at low reaction temperature than that in $O_2$.
In this study, torrefaction was performed to improve fuel properties of Larch. The optimal condition for torrefaction was investigated by response surface methodology. The torrefaction temperature and time ranged $220{\sim}280^{\circ}C$ and 20~80 min, respectively. As the torrefaction temperature and time increased, the carbon content of torrefied biomass increased from 49.36 to 56.65%, while its hydrogen and oxygen contents decreased from 5.56 to 5.48% and from 37.62 to 31.67%, respectively. The weight loss and calorific value increased with SF, while energy yield decreased. At the severe torrefaction condition (SF 7), the weight loss and calorific value were 26.58% and 22.30 MJ/kg, respectively. The energy contained in torrefied biomass increased to 20.41%, when compared with the untreated biomass. As the torrefaction severity increased, the energy yield decreased due to the relatively high weight loss of biomass. Therefore, the highest energy yield was obtained at high calorific value and low weight loss of biomass (SF 5.72).

This study evaluates the antioxidant capacity of 40 varieties of colored barley and hulled barley. For investigation of the antioxidant capacity as well as the contents of anthocyanin, color intensity, total phenolic acids contents, SOD-like activity, samples were extracted in ethanol with 0.1$\%$ TFA. The content of anthocyanin was measured spectrophotometrically. The total phenolic acid content was analyzed by using th Folin-Ciocalteu method, and the color intensity was determined by using the color difference meter. The results showed that in the anthocyanin content and color intensity of colored barley there were significant differences according to their varieties. The resulting concentration levels were divided into three groups: Group I (high) Group II (medium), and Group III (low). In the measurements of antioxidant capacity significant differences(P < 0.05) were found among varieties in those groups. Colored barley was higher in electrondonating capability, SOD-like activity, iuhibitory effects on lecithin oxidation, and hydrogen radical- scavenging ability Meanwhile, from different antioxidant tests, No. 26, 27, 34, and 35 varieties measured high in antioxidation ability fell into Group I high in the anthocyanin content. This results suggest that the anthocyanin content has a significant relationship on antioxidant activity.
High speed steels (HSS) were used as cutting tools and wear parts, because of high strength, wear resistance, and hardness together with an appreciable toughness and fatigue resistance. Conventional manufacturing process for production of components with HSS was used by casting. The powder metallurgy techniques were currently developed due to second phase segregation of conventional process. The powder injection molding method (PIM) was received attention owing to shape without additional processes. The experimental specimens were manufactured with T42 HSS powders (59 vol%) and polymer (41 vol%). The metal powders were prealloyed water-atomised T42 HSS. The green parts were solvent debinded in normal n-Hexane at $60^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours and thermal debinded at $N_2-H_2$ mixed gas atmosphere for 14 hours. Specimens were sintered in $N_2$, $H_2$ gas atmosphere and vacuum condition between 1200 and $1320^{\circ}C$. In result, polymer degradation temperatures about optimum conditions were found at $250^{\circ}C$ and $480^{\circ}C$. After sintering at $N_2$ gas atmosphere, maximum hardness of 310Hv was observed at $1280^{\circ}C$. Fine and well dispersed carbide were observed at this condition. But relative density was under 90%. When sintering at $H_2$ gas atmosphere, relative density was observed to 94.5% at $1200^{\circ}C$. However, the low hardness was obtained due to decarbonization by hydrogen. In case of sintering at the vacuum of $10^{-5}$ torr at temperature of $1240^{\circ}C$, full density and 550Hv hardness were obtained without precipitation of MC and $M_6C$ in grain boundary.

This study is carried out to obtain basic data regarding oxidation and reduction reactions, originated on the recycling of waste tungsten hard scraps by oxidation and reduction processes. First, it is estimated that the theoretical Gibbs free energy for the formation reaction of $WO_2$ and $WO_3$ are calculated as ${\Delta}G_{1,000K}=-407.335kJ/mol$ and ${\Delta}G_{1,000K}=-585.679kJ/mol$, from the thermodynamics data reported by Ihsan Barin. In the experiments, the oxidation of pure tungsten rod by oxygen is carried out over a temperature range of $700-1,000^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, and it is possible to conclude that the oxidation reaction can be represented by a relatively linear relationship. Second, the reduction of $WO_2$ and $WO_3$ powder by hydrogen is also calculated from the same thermodynamics data, and it can be found that it was difficult for the reduction reaction to occur at $1,027^{\circ}C$, in the case of $WO_2$, but it can happen for temperatures higher than $1127^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, $WO_3$ reduction reaction occurs at the relatively low temperature of $827^{\circ}C$. Based on these results, the reduction experiments are carried out at a temperature range of $500-1,000^{\circ}C$ for 15 min to 4 h, in the case of $WO_3$ powder, and it is possible to conclude that the reduction at $900^{\circ}C$ for 2h is needed for a perfect reduction reaction.

The purpose of this study is to provide a design and operation technical guideline for meeting the appropriate design criteria to bio-gasification facilities treating organic wastes. In accordance with the government's mid-to long-term policies on bio-gasification and energization of organic wastes, the expansion of the waste-to-energy (WTE) facilities is being remarkably promoted. However, because of the limitation of livestock manure containing low-concentration of volatile solids, there has been increased in combined bio-gasification without installing new anaerobic digestion facilities. The characteristics and common problems of each treatment processes were investigated for on-going 13 bio-gasification facilities. The seasonal precision monitoring of chemicophysics analysis on anaerobic digestor samples was conducted to provide guidelines for design and operation according to the progress of bio-gasification treatment. Consequently, major problems were investigated such as large deviation of organic materials depending on seasons, proper dehumidification of biogas and pretreatment of hydrogen sulfide.
The heat recovery system that was applied in this study, is the energy-saving type that can produce the maximum cooling capacity less power in use. In order to have a more precise control function the temperature and humidity of the constant temperature and humidity machine, control algorithm is applied to designed a fuzzy PID controller, and the outside air compensation device (air-cooled) demonstrated excellent ability to dehumidify the moisture, $-20^{\circ}C$ in winter. High efficiency and the low-noise type sirocco fan operate quitely and designed to fit the bottom-up and top-down in accordance with the characteristics of equipment. as a result of experiment data, the conversion efficiency is 95% or more, power recovery time is within 5sec, stop delay time is within 30sec, pump down time is 10sec, pump delay time is 5sec, heating delay time is 5sec, temperature deviation is ${\pm}2^{\circ}C$ (cooling deviation: $2^{\circ}C$, Heating deviation : $2^{\circ}C$), humidity deviation is a ${\pm}5%$ (humidification deviation 3.0%, dehumidification deviation 3.0%). Recently, ubiquitous technology is important. so, the constant temperature and humidity machine designed to be able to remotely control to via the mobile phone, and more scalable to support MMI software and automatic interface. Further, the life of the parts and equipment is extended by the failure.

This study purposes to elucidate the characteristics of local water quality and the evolutional process of the spring water have been studied with the samples from 55 selected springs, from the coast region to the Baegrogdam, a caldera lake of Halla mountain in Cheju Island. Results of hydrochemical analyses in the 55 spring water show that Gwaneumsa is pollued with high hydrogen concentration, and spring waters from Yusuarmchun, Jangsumul, Dukjisemmul, Sinch'onk'nmul, Youngchunsa, Woonyangchun, Harwontongmul, Dongheamul, Seakdalsengsu, Andukkyekok, Dotimul, Kinmul, Harkangmul and Jungkeummul are polluted by the pollution sources from the surface surrounding ground. Spring waters of Samyang3suwon, Meungbusa, Sernurungmul, Tosanmul, Jungkeummul, Kwakgimul, Aewolharmul, Konemul and Nokgomul are also polluted from the sea water intrusion. The electrical conductivity, pH and the concentration of nitrate nitrogen and bicarbonate increase when the precipitation increases, but the concentration of sodium, chloride and sulphate decrease when the precipitation increases. The concentrations of potassium, magnessium and calcium are nearly independent of the precipitaion. Quality characteristics of spring water show complicated group of spring water through piper's trilinear diagram. The high mountain region consists of groups of sodium or potassium type and bicarbonate type; the middle mountain region consists of groups of sodium or potassium type and no dominant type; the low mountain consists of groups of no dominant type and sulfate or nitrate type; the coast region consists of groups of sodium or potassium type and chloride type or no dominant type. These characteristics indicate that the spring waters are changed from bicarbonate type in the high and middle mountain regions into non-bicarbonate type in the coastal region, as the precipitated waters flow downslope.
