Whiplash injuries in low-speed rear-end collisions are the most common injuries and has been a social issue in insurance industry, such as excessive medical claim costs along with exaggerated injuries of victims and treatments from hospitals. According to the Korea Insurance Development Institute reports, the number of claims by rear-end collision was approximately 703,000, which accounts for 53.6 % of the total car-to-car collisions in 2014. Part of the neck injury claims in the Korea car insurance was approximately 28.3 %. Furthermore, approximately 98.4% of the injured persons in rear-end collisions sustained minor injuries under AIS2. In order to improve this situation as well as find out the severity of neck injuries from rear-end collision, the Korea Automobile Insurance Repair Research and Training Center conducted car-to-car rear-end crash tests that striking vehicles(SUV) collided into different sizes of struck-vehicles(small, middle, and large sedan) at the impact speeds of 8 km/h ~ 16 km/h. In order to analyze the whiplash injury, the BioRID-II was seated in each struck-vehicles, and the neck injury criteria(NIC), head contact time, maximum vehicle accelerations, and mean vehicle accelerations were calculated from values from the accelerations of the dummy and the struck-vehicles.

Recently, the industrial field has been changed to the smart factory system based on information and communication technology (ICT) in order to improve productivity, quality and customer satisfaction. The most important machine to realize the smart factory is the AGV(automatic guided vehicle) and the adoption of AGV is increasing. Generally, AGV is developed using general purpose PLC(Programmable Logic controller), but the price of AGV is expensive and its volume is large. On the other hand, the industrial field due to space constraints in the workplace is required the low cost AGV which can be minimization, expansion of function, and easily reconfiguration. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, this study is proposed a design method of AGV controller with built-in PLC, and evaluated its performance. In the results of the experimentation, it showed good performance (speed control error = 0.021[m/s], posture control error=2.1[mm]) for the speed and posture control. In this way, when applying the proposed AGV controller in this study to the industrial filed, it is possible to reduce the size and reconfigure at low cost.

It's proposed and analyzed ML(Machine Learning) models to predict vehicle FC(Fuel Consumption) in real-time. The test driving was done for a car to measure vehicle speed, acceleration, road gradient and FC for training dataset. The various ML models were trained with feature data of speed, acceleration and road-gradient for target FC. There are two kind of ML models and one is regression type of linear regression and k-nearest neighbors regression and the other is classification type of k-nearest neighbors classifier, logistic regression, decision tree, random forest and gradient boosting in the study. The prediction accuracy is low in range of 0.5 ~ 0.6 for real-time FC and the classification type is more accurate than the regression ones. The prediction error for total FC has very low value of about 0.2 ~ 2.0% and regression models are more accurate than classification ones. It's for the coefficient of determination (R2) of accuracy score distributing predicted values along mean of targets as the coefficient decreases. Therefore regression models are good for total FC and classification ones are proper for real-time FC prediction.

Access management is aimed at preserving the road's high intercity mobility. In urbanized areas, immoderate acceleration lane-length requirements restrict the accessibility of land. Therefore, there are many opinions to revise the minimum acceleration lane-length requirement. For this purpose, it is important to diagnose the effects of slow vehicles on the mainline. This study analyzed a single merging vehicle's total delay occurrence depending on the mainline traffic flow rate and merging speed. A linear relationship was observed between the mainline traffic flow rate and total delay. As a merging speed increases gradually from 40km/h to 100km/h in 20km/h intervals, the total delay decreases by 5.0, 1.6, and 5.1 times, respectively. This shows that the ideal condition with the total delay is less than 0.5 vehicle·sec when there is no speed difference between the mainline and merging vehicle. On the other hand, given the one-second response time of drivers, the total delay occurrence was slightly low when the speed difference between the mainline and merging vehicle was less than 20km/h.

The range extender vehicle runs on a mechanism that allows the small power generation engine to start in the most efficient specific operating range to charge the battery and extend the mileage. In this study, we developed a step motor type intake air supply system that replaces existing throttle body system to develop a simple low cost control logic system. The system was applied to the existing base engine, and in order to improve the performance by increasing the amount of intake air, the effect of changing the length of the intake and exhaust manifold was experimentally examined. As a result, the Type B intake air control actuator operated by one step motor showed higher performance than the Type A in all the operation region, but the performance was lower than that of the base engine due to the increase of flow resistance. To improve this, it was confirmed that the engine performance was improved at both speeds of 2200rpm and 4300rpm when the 140mm adapter was installed in the intake manifold and when the newly designed 70mm exhaust manifold was applied. Through this process, high - precision operation control was realized by connecting the generator load to the optimized engine for the range extender electric vehicle. Experimental results showed that the speed change rate was within ${\pm}2.5%$ at 2200rpm in 1st stage and 4300rpm in 2nd stage and the speed follow-up result of 610 rpm/s was obtained when the speed was increased from 2200rpm to 4300rpm.
This paper presents the comparison and analysis of the power supply system of a Maglev train and conventional electric railway. Even though all Maglev trains have batteries on their vehicles, electric power supply from the ground side is necessary for levitation, propulsion, on-board electrical equipment, battery recharging, and so on. At low speeds up to $100{\sim}150(km/h)$, the Maglev train, generally, uses a mechanical contact, a current collector as same as conventional electric railway. However, at high speeds, the Maglev train can no longer obtain power from the ground side by using a mechanical contact. Therefore, high speed Maglev trains use their own way to deliver the power to the vehicle from the ground. In this paper, the power supply systems of the german, japanese, and korean low- and high-speed Maglev trains have been reviewed.

In this paper, a GNSS-based AGV system was designed, and steering tested on a golf cart using electric wires in order to confirm the control efficiency of the low speed vehicle which used only position information of GNSS. After analyzed the existing AGVs system, we developed controller and steering algorithm using GNSS based position information. To analyze the performance of the developed controller and steering algorithm, straight-type and circle-type trajectory test are executed. The results show that steering performance of GNSS-based AGV system is ${\pm}\;0.2m$ for a reference trajectory.

The important goal of the unmanned vehicle technology is on controlling the direction and speed of the vehicle with information acquired from various sensors, without the intervention of the driver, until the vehicle reaches to its destination. In this paper, our focus is on developing an unmanned conveyance system by exploiting low-cost sensing technology for indoor factories or warehouses, where the moving range of the vehicle is limited. To this end, we propose an architecture of a scalable automated conveyance system. Our proposed system includes a number of unmanned conveyance vehicles, and the efficient control mechanism of the vehicles without neither conflicts nor deadlock between the vehicles being simultaneously moved. By implementing the real prototype of the system, we successfully verify the efficiency and functionality of the proposed system.

This study aimed to identify the influence of the power components of the ammunition vehicle on the maximum speed. The maximum speeds of the engine and transmission changes were 3% and 1.7%, respectively. In the case of strong tension based on the track tension, the decrease was 4.6%. A 1.5% increase was obtained when the tension was weak. An examination of the maximum speed by dividing the track tension into six sections revealed the maximum speed to be highest when it was maintained below the middle. Experiments were performed by varying the orbital tension on both sides of the equipment. The maximum speed of the machine was affected by a large part of the tension. The maximum speed test was conducted by adjusting the tension at the driving test site. The results showed that when the tension was strong, the speed was 16.7% higher than the standard requirement. The speed was 28.3% at low tension. The influence of the maximum speed on the track tension was confirmed; the effect was greater than replacing the large parts.
PURPOSES : The fundamental diagram provides basic information necessary in the analysis of traffic flow and highway operation. When traffic flow is congested, the density-flow points in the fundamental diagram are widely scattered and move in a stochastic manner. This paper investigates the pattern of density-flow point transitions and identifies car-following behaviors underlying the density-flow transitions. METHODS : From a microscopic analysis of 722 fundamental diagrams of NGSIM data, a total of 20 transition patterns of fundamental diagrams are identified. Prominent features of the transition patterns are explained by the behavior of the leader and follower. RESULTS : It is found out that the average speed and the speed difference between the leader and the follower critically determine the density-flow transition pattern. The density-flow path is very sensitive to the values of vehicle speed and spacing especially at low speed and high density such that most fluctuations in the fundamental diagram in the congested regime is due to the noise of speed and spacing variations. CONCLUSIONS : The result of this study suggests that the average speed, the speed difference between the leader and the follower, and the random variations of speed and spacing are dominant factors that explain the transition patterns of a fundamental diagram.
