To understand property of distribution restricted at northern slope of Corylopsis coreana, we investigated process of sedentary formation from seed germination to seedling and its micrometeorological factors in Cheongsogol, Suncheon in Korea. The germination tests were carried out in-situ and manipulated condition, respectively. Air and soil temperatures, relative humidity, soil water contents and PPFD were measured in southern and northern slopes for four seasons. The seeds did not shown difference in germination to azimuth slope. However, seedling in the northern slope should have taken advantage on the sedentary stage of seedlings because there was low temperature and high humidity during the spring. At the southern slope, the seedlings seemed to have a disadvantage on high temperature and low humidity in spring season. Accordingly, the formation of Corylopsis coreana population is influenced by microclimatic factors, especially in low temperature and high humidity at the sedentary stage of the germinated seedlings.
Products for heating indoors in low temperature and dry winter are largely divided into products using fossil fuels and products using electricity. The fossil fuels can warm the entire space by convection, but there is a high risk of fire and the frequent ventilation due to the increase in carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Heaters using electricity are mainly used because they are convenient to use and are cheap. However, these products can not efficiently warm the air because they use radiation energy. In other words, only the front part exposed to the heater is warm, and the rear part has no heating effect at all. Also, because it emits a large amount of light, fatigue of the eyes is very high. Another problem is that when using electric heaters, the room tends to be dry by high heat. Indoor humidity maintenance is a very important factor in the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases. Especially, it is essential for health care for infants, bronchial organs and people with weak respiratory because humidity is low in winter. In this study, we conducted a study to develop a product that can improve heating efficiency while maintaining proper indoor humidity by combining heat energy and moisture particles. The concept of humidification and heating at the same time, moisture particles generated in the humidifier pass through the heater, include thermal energy, and the moisture particles with thermal energy are diffused into the space by forced convection, thereby warming the entire space. In addition, the heating time is shortened as the feeling temperature is increased with the high relative humidity, and this has the effect that the heating cost in winter is reduced.

In tradition, there have been two kinds of drying methods, which are sun drying and artificial drying. The sun drying method which has been adopted traditionally has been replaced by the hot-air drying method which is one of the most general methods of artificial drying, with its simple drying system, low initial cost of drying plant, and easy operating method. But the hot-air drying method has some defects ; (1)much energy loss happens due to the discharge of hot air during the drying process, (2)control of drying rate is not easy on account of changing relative humidity of inlet air for uniform hot air temperature, (3)high temperature of floods in drying process brings about the production of low-grade drying products. Also, the hot-air drying method is inducing environmental and sanitary problems which are resulting from the emission of high temperature and high humidity air, including stick on the drying progress. Vacuum drying technique, whose drying time and 7uantity of exhausting energy is about 1/3 ~1/4 of hot air drying, is very excellent in the drying efficiency. As the results, it took about 20 hours for material to reach about 18% of the final moisture content in order to store products for a long time, from about 470% of the early moisture content at the beginning of drying, and maximum drying rate comes to about $0.35 kg/m^2hr$ at about 350% of the moisture content.
Temperature, humidity and wetness duration were monitored for fully developed paddy rice canopies with 3 different structures induced by the seeding method(puddled-soil drill seeding, DS ; hand broadcasting, HB ; machine broadcasting, MB). Within-canopy air temperature averaged over "clear sky" hours during the study period(maximum tillering through heading) was lower than the screen temperature at a nearby standard weather station, especially in the night. The same trend was true for "overcast sky" hours except the diurnal distinction. Vapor pressure within the canopy was high during the daytime and low in the night, making the daytime deviation from outside the canopy more significant on clear days. Under the overcast sky, the canopy maintained a steady 5 to 10% higher vapor pressure than the outside regardless of day or night. Daily maximum temperature was observed to be higher within the canopies with more leaf mass, making MB the highest, HB the lowest, and DS in between. Relative humidity was over 90% in the night and dropped to 70% in the mid-afternoon, but vapor pressure within the canopy was highest at around 13:00 LST. Dew point depression was lowest and, combined with the temperature, the relative humidity was highest in HB. Mean period of wetting duration was in the order of DS>HB>MB, while the dew point depression was greatest in DS.
This study performed the evaluation of skin temperature, heart rate, humidity and temperature inside clothing, and subjective sensation to estimate the physiological responses of the human body and its feeling of comfort for developing value-added dox fabric. Experiments were performed on five healthy adult women whose average age was 21, at climate chamber in which temperature, relative humidity and air current were set up below $28{\pm}5^{\circ}C$, $50{\pm}10%$, 0.2m/s, respectively. Two kinds of clothes were used for the experiments: 100% cotton and dox clothes. The clothes were identical in size and form, and the attire consisted of long-sleeved shirts, long trousers, and socks. The experiment was performed for 30 minutes using ergometer. The results are as follows. 1) It showed low skin temperature of forearm, breast, back, forehead and lower leg in exercise, but high skin temperature of them in recovery. However skin temperature of thigh and foot increased from rest to recovery. 2) It showed significant difference (p<0.001, p<0.01) in average skin temperature between cotton and dox clothes. Cotton clothes had a higher average skin temperature compared to dox. Not only was there a significant difference in temperature inside clothing (p<0.001), this was also the case with humidity inside the clothing (p<0.001).

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of temperature and humidity on the sampling efficiency of mixed organic vapors of l,2-DCE, benzene, and MIBK by 3 different types of diffusion monitors. Independent variables used for the study were temperatures ($25^{\circ}C$, $35^{\circ}C$), humidities (30%, 80%), and vapor concentrations (low, medium, and high). In addition, vapor concentrations measured by the traditional charcoal tube method were used as reference values and were compared with those of by diffusion monitors. The results were as follows: 1. The desorption efficiencies(DE) of 1,2-DCE and benzene from charcoal tubes and from diffusion monitors ranged from 98% to 105%. In contrast, the DEs of MIBK from charcoal tubes and diffusion monitors except DM1 ranged from 71% to 85%. The DE of MIBK from DM1 was 98%. 2. No statistically significant differences of 1,2-DCE concentrations and the sampling efficiencies regardless of temperatures and humidities studied between charcoal tube and 3 diffusion monitors were found. 3. At 80% humidity, increasing frequencies of 1,2-DCE breakthrough at higher temperature and higher vapor concentration measured by charcoal tubes were observed. 4. No statistically significant difference of benzene concentrations were found between charcoal tube and diffusion monitors except DM3. The sampling efficiencies of DM3 were statistically significantly lower at all experimental conditions except the $35^{\circ}C$ and 30% humidity condition. 5. No statistically significant difference of MIBK concentrations were found between charcoal tube and diffusion monitors except DM3. The sampling efficiencies of DM3 were statistically significantly higher at higher humidity conditions regardless of temperature. Although statistically not significant, sampling efficiency of MIBK showed positive correlation with humidity while negative correlation with concentration was observed. 6. For sampling 1,2-DCE and benzene, no significant variations of concentrations among three diffusion monitors regardless of temperature and humidity conditions were found. For MIBK sampling, however, wide variations with increasing humidity among diffusion monitors were obtained. In conclusion, this study suggests that diffusion monitors will be a reasonables substitute for the traditional charcoal tubes for sampling non-polar organic vapors at temperature and humidity conditions studied. For polar organic vapors, use of an alternative desorption solution other than CS2 is recommended because of its low desorption efficiency. In addition, since variable among diffusion monitors for polar organic vapors particularly at higher humidity conditions were observed, further study is recommended of the effects of humidity on the performance of diffusion monitors.
Humidity and strain were estimated for understanding the relation between humidity change by self-desiccation and shrinkage in high-performance concrete with low water binder ratio. Internal humidity change and shrinkage strain were about 10%, 4% and $320\times10^{-6}$, $120\times10^{-6}$ respectively on concrete with water binder ratio 0.3, 0.4 and from the results, humidity change and shrinkage represented the strong linear relation regardless of mixture. For specifying the relation on internal humidity change and autogenous shrinkage strain, shrinkage model was established which is driven by capillary pressure in pore water and surface energy in hydrates on the assumption of a single network and extended meniscus in pore system of concrete. This model and experimental results had a similar tendency so it would be concluded that the internal humidity change by self-desiccation in HPC originated in small pores less than 20 nm, therefore controlling plan on autogenous shrinkage might be focused on surface tension of water and degree of saturation in small pore.
A study was designed to investigate the sorption characteristics of binary mixture of red ginseng powder and maltodextrin(DE-17) or lactose stored at various relative humidities ranging from 52% to 93%. At low relative humilities below RH 67%, the sorption equilibrium was easily achieved, whereas at higher relative humidity values over 75%, all of the mixtures tended to absorb moisture continuously with an increase in storage time. A linear equation of log(dw/dt): a log(t)+ log b was found to be valid between the sorption rate and storage time with respect to storage humilities. A linearity was also found between log(1-Aw) and the amount of water absorbed over the Aw range of 0.52∼0.93 and the slope was affected by the kind of sugar added with that of red ginseng powder and maltodextrin mixture being the smallest.

This study investigated the changes of indoor thermal environment by Ardisia species planted in indoor space. Three Ardisia species (Ardisia japonica, Ardisia crenata and Ardisia pusilla) were used in this study and differences of temperature and relative humidity were ascertained in an empty chamber with and without plants. In high temperatures over $24^{\circ}C$, Ardisia species cooled down chamber more as compared to the control without plants, but there were no significant differences among Ardisia species. Ardisia crenata showed high relative humidity of $57.3{\pm}3.1%$ during most of the day time and $60.8{\pm}2.5%$ at low temperatures. However, Ardisia japonica and Ardisia pusilla showed $54.7{\pm}1.18%$ and $52.5{\pm}2.4%$, respectively, on the average, and they maintained comfortable relative humidity during most of the day time. When the setting temperature was decreased from 28 to $26^{\circ}C$, Ardisia species showed 7.5~13.6 times greater cooling efficiency as compared to the control without plants, and at low temperatures the chamber without plants showed higher themal energy than the chamber with plants. Ardisia species were effective on cooling down the temperature at high temperatures and they showed a tendency to maintain proper temperatures at low temperatures.
$Nafion/TiO_2$ composite membranes were prepared via an in-situ sol-gel process with different immersing periods from 1 day to 7 days for the low humidifying proton exchange membrane fuel cell. As the immersing time increased, the $TiO_2$ content within the Nafion membrane increased. The contact angle decreased with the increased $TiO_2$ content in the composite membrane due to the increased hydrophilicity. The water uptake and proton conductivity reached to the highest level for 4 day immersing period, then decreased as the immersing period increased. A 7 days of immersing time was shown to be too long because too much $TiO_2$ aggregates were formed on the membrane surface as well as interior of the membrane, interfering the proton transfer from anode to cathode. Cell performance results were in good agreement with those of the water uptake and proton conductivity; current densities under a relative humidity (RH) of 40% were 0.54, 0.6, $0.63A/cm^2$ and $0.49A/cm^2$ for the immersing time of 1, 3, 4 and 7 days, respectively at a 0.6 V. The composite membrane prepared via the in-situ sol-gel process exhibited the enhancement in the cell performance under of RH 40% by a maximum of about 66% compared to those of using the recasting composite membrane and Nafion 115.
