This study was carried out to verify the accuracy of fitness tracking devices in monitoring heart rate and energy consumption and to contribute to the development of a forest exercise program that can recommend the intensity and amount of forest exercises based on personal health-related data and provide monitoring and feedback on forest exercises. Among several commercially available wearable devices, Fitbit was selected for the research, as it provides Open API and data collected by Fitbit can be utilized by third parties to develop programs. Fitbit provides users with various information collected during forest exercises including exercise time and distance, heart rate, energy consumption, as well as the altitude and slope of forests collected by GPS. However, in order to verify the usability of the heart rate and energy consumption data collected by Fitbit in forest, the accuracy of heart rate and energy consumption were verified by comparing the data collected by Fitbit and reference. In this study, 13 middle-aged women were participated, and it was found that the heart rate measured by Fitbit showed a very low error rate and high correlation with that measured by the reference. The energy consumption measured by Fitbit was not significantly different from that measured in the reference, but the error rate was slightly higher. However, there was high correlation between the results measured by Fibit and the reference, therefore, it can be concluded that Fitbit can be utilized in developing actual forest exercise programs.
Recently, the energy consumption has been sharply increased and the environmental pollution has been serious, resulted in increased use of fossil fuel. These facts are applied to most fields, and are especially important issues in the field of architecture. The energy consumption rate of building is about 30% of all energy consumption, and the rate of residential is about 20% of the rate of building and is increasing gradually. The purpose of this article is firstly to analyse an actual energy consumption rate of model building and compare it with alternative methods, which are applied passive system to, and secondly to suggest an optimal passive method for saving energy. The conclusion of this study is as follows; 1) As compared with the existing house on actual energy consumption rate, 6% in changing orientation to a south, 9% in using double low-e glazing and 23% in shading is decreased. 2) The change of insulation from 50 to 100mm did not show dramatical difference in energy consumption rate. 3) As changed indoor temperature at 2$0^{\circ}C$ in winter and 27$^{\circ}C$ in summer, the rate shows a reduction of 14% compared with the existing condition.
The relationship between socio-economic status and food and nutrient consumption patterns was studied in 7,370 Koreans aged 20 years and older in the 1995 Korean Health and Nutrition Survey. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of rapid economic growth on food and nutrient consumption for Korean adults in the last 30 years. Monthly household income, and individual's educational level and occupation were chosen as variables of socio-economic status for individuals. A one day 24 hour recall method was used for the dietary survey. One way analysis of varience was adopted to test tole association between socio-economic variables and food and nutrient consumption patterns. Individuals who had a high socio-economic status had significantly higher daily intake of most of the nutrients including calcium, vitamin A, vitamin B$_2$which reached above the recommended dietary allowances(RDA) and a higher percentage energy consumption from fat. In addition, individual who belonged to a low socio-economic status consumed less animal foods, including meat, egg, milk and consumed low proportion of energy from fat. The results suggest that in spite of rapid economic growth during the last 30 years in Korea, individuals who belonged to low sorio-economic status categories are still nutritionally vulnerable. Among the sorio-economic variables, income and education except occupation were the influential factors on the food and nutrient consumption of Koreans. Therefore, nutrition policy should focus on influencing the dietary patterns of lower social class individuals to improve the health status of the population as a whole.
Increase in oil prices and building energy consumption has been a great burden for Korea which has significant energy dependence on foreign energy sources. In this context, reduction of building energy consumption, which comprises 40% of total energy consumption, is a very important issue. This research therefore empirically analyzed a hospital "P" that implemented ICT-based energy consumption and cost reduction initiative. The hospital first replaced existing water absorber for heating/cooling air and boiler for heating water with water heat storage heat pump system. This was accompanied by subscribing to different electricity price plans to maximize cost reduction. Secondly, the hospital additionally applied ICT-based optimized control algorithm that considers surrounding factors (external temperature, changes in energy demand). The analysis of these mechanisms indicate that the ICT-based energy consumption and cost reduction initiative for hospitals can reduce energy consumption by 53.6% with replacement of low-efficiency equipment and additionally by 18.2% with optimized control algorithm. The mechanisms will provide energy consumption reduction opportunities for other hospitals and buildings with high energy consumption.

We proposed a load unbalancing scheduling method for energy-efficient multi-core embedded systems considering DVFS (Dynamic Voltage/Frequency Scaling) power consumption and task characteristics. It is a new kind of scheduler which combines load balancing and load unbalancing technique. The purpose of the method is to effectively utilize energy without much effect in performance. In this paper, we conduct experiments on energy consumption and performance using the previous load balancing and unbalancing techniques and our proposed technique. The proposed technique reduced energy consumption more than 13.7% when compared to other algorithms. As a result, the proposed technique shows low energy consumption without much decline in the performance and is adequate for energy-efficient multi-core embedded systems.

This paper analyzes the nodes deployment optimization problem in energy constrained wireless sensor networks, which multi-hop cooperative beamforming (CB) based cooperative-multi-input-single-output (CMISO) transmission is adopted to reduce the energy consumption. Firstly, we establish the energy consumption models for multi-hop SISO, multi-hop DSTBC based CMISO, multi-hop CB based CMISO transmissions under random nodes deployment. Then, we minimize the energy consumption by searching the optimal nodes deployment for the three transmissions. Furthermore, numerical results present the optimal nodes deployment parameters for the three transmissions. Energy consumption of the three transmissions are compared under optimal nodes deployment, which shows that CB based CMISO transmission consumes less energy than SISO and DSTBC based CMISO transmissions. Meanwhile, under optimal nodes deployment, the superiorities of CB based CMISO transmission over SISO and DSTBC based CMISO transmissions can be more obvious when path-loss-factor becomes low.
Purpose: Recently energy consumption is rapidly increasing due to continuous development of social evolution in various field. In this situation, there is a lot of effort to reduce this energy consumption in many ways, especially in building energy. Preceding studies already started to analyze the housing area such as zero energy house and passive house by researching annual building energy consumption, but to apply the results of housing to office building is insufficient since it has different consumption tendency. Method: In this study, eQuest program was used for simulation and the base model is selected among standard office building in ASHRAE 90.1. Variables are divided into passive and active factors for comparison. Result: In passive factors, glazing system showed the highest energy saving rate by 21.3% with triple low-e glass and enhancing wall u-value showed the lowest energy saving rate by 3.6% with 0.15 m2/K. In active factors, VAV system showed 30.9% energy saving rate when compared to CAV system, and heat exchanger showed 10.2% energy saving rate. For regeneration energy part, photovoltaic panel generated 10.4% of base annual energy usage.

It is essential to reduce global carbon emissions, mainly from energy use. The water supply and distribution sector is a vital part of human society and is one of the primary energy consumers. The procurement and distribution of water require electricity to operate the pump to deliver water to users with sufficient pressure. As the water users are spatially distributed over a wide area, the energy required to deliver water to each user differs depending on the corresponding supplying element (reservoir, tank, pipe, pump, and valve). This difference in energy required for each user also comes with a difference in pressure availability which affects the level of service for individual users and the whole network. Typically, there is a disproportion where users close to the source experience excessively high pressure with low energy consumption. In contrast, remote users need more energy to get the minimum pressure. This study proposes the Energy Return Index (ERI) to quantify the pressure return from particular energy consumption to supply water to each node. The disproportionality can be quantified and identified in the network using the proposed ERI. The index can be applied to optimize the network elements such as pump operation and tank location/size to reach a balanced energy consumption with the appropriate level of service.

This project is mainly related to evaluation of total energy consumption of low energy house, the exterior envelope of which was wholly composed of structural insulated panels(SIP). The U-value of applied SIP was in the range of 0.189 to $0.269W/m^2{\cdot}K$ and the U-value of pair glass from 0.78 to $1.298W/m^2{\cdot}K$ was applied for window dependent to its function respectively. For comparison of total energy performance, the energy simulation for pilot house was performed to compare with the control house having insulation criteria of Korean building regulation in 2009. Based on simulation of dynamic energy performance, the pilot house saved 48.3% of annual energy consumption while the control house in 2009 consumed as 85.7GJ/y. In case of heating, the result showed that the energy saving ratio amounted to 76.7%. For $CO_2$ emission, the pilot house diminished approximately 35.4% from $6,208.4kgCO_2$ to $4,009.2kgCO_2$. In payback period to early investment, it was analyzed the pilot house took 7.8 years, when the low energy house built by other insulation method with same thermal perfusion took 11.5 years. From this result, it is considered that the SIP is more effective, economic to Green Home application.
Wind energy, which is one of renewable energy, would be useful resources that can be applied to making energy recycling villages without using fossil fuels. This study analyzed energy potential on wind power considering weather condition in three rural villages and compared with energy consumption surveyed. A wind turbine system in the 5kW class can generate 26.1%, 73.9% and 39.5% of the yearly mean consumption of electric power per house in Makhyun, Boojang and Soso respectively. A 750kW wind turbine system can generate 1.7%, 30.3% and 22.1% of the total amount of electric power consumption in three study villages respectively. Wind power energy density was too low in Makhyun and Soso, so it is determined that the application of wind turbine system is almost impossible. Wind energy potential was generally low in Boojang either, but it is evaluated that there is a little possibility of wind power generation relatively. For practical application of renewable energy to rural green-village planning, assessment of energy potential for the local area should be preceded.
