운전조건 변화에 따른 루버휜 열교환기 성능변화에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Performance of the Louver Fin Type Heat Exchanger by the Change of the Driving Condition)

  • The present study was investigated the effect of the driving condition on the performance of a louver fin and tube type heat exchanger under frosting condition. Heat transfer rate and pressure drop by frost were experimentally investigated. Effects of the wet blub temperature and the shape of a fin on heat transfer performances has been also investigated. The key parameters were fin type(louver and corrugate fin) and the wet blub temperature of air (0.5, 1.0, $1.5^{\circ}C$). The heat transfer performance of the louver fin and tube type heat exchanger was higher by 0.89% than the corrugate fin type. As the wet blub temperature of air were increased, the heat transfer rate, pressure drop and mass of frost of three test models(Type A, B, C) were increased. Especially, the maximum heat transfer rate and maximum pressure drop were shown for the louver fin and tube type heat exchanger. As a experimental result, the enhancement factor(EF) of louver fin and tube type heat exchanger was $0.2{\sim}0.4$ due to the high pressure drop.

광폭 루버 핀이 장착된 핀-관 열교환기의 습표면 성능에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Airside Performance of Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers Having Wide Louver Fins Under Wet Conditions)

  • 전열량을 늘리는 손쉬운 방법은 전열면적을 크게 하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 세로와 가로 방향 튜브 핏치의 비(Pt/Pl)가 1.03인 광폭 루버 핀 시료의 습표면 j와 f 인자를 실험을 통하여 구하고 Pt/Pl=0.6인 일반 루버 핀 시료와 비교하였다. 동일 소비동력에서 광폭 루버 핀 시료의 전열성능이 일반 루버 핀 시료보다 1열에서 평균 16%, 2열에서 평균 29%, 3열에서 평균 38% 크게 나타났다. 이 증가량은 핀 면적의 증가량 (2.17배)에 비하면 현저히 작은데 이는 광폭 루버 핀 시료의 열전달계수와 핀 효율이 일반 루버 핀 시료의 값들보다 작기 때문이다. 핀 핏치가 j와 f 인자에 미치는 영향이 크지 않았다. 또한 튜브 열수가 증가할수록 j와 f 인자는 감소하였다. 실험 데이터를 기존 상관식과 비교하였다.

  • This study investigates the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of heat exchanger according to the combination of fin configuration and fin pitch of each row by the similitude experiments with the finned-tube geometry scaled as large as four times Finned-tube heat exchanger has 2 rows, and fin geometry consists of two cases, louver-louver and louver-slit. Fin pitch is varied with three types in each case, 6-6 mm, 8-8 mm and 8-6 mm. Results show that total heat transfer can be occurred evenly at each row by varying the fin pitch of 1st row and 2nd row. Heat transfer rate and pressure drop characteristics change according to the combination for fin geometry and fin pitch.

복합 전열 촉진 핀이 적용된 핀-관 열교환기의 습표면 성능에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Air-Side Performance of Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers Having Compound Enhanced Fins Under Wet Condition)

  • 본 연구에서는 복합 전열 촉진 핀 열교환기의 습표면 열전달 및 압력손실에 대하여 실험적으로 검토하였다. 비교를 위하여 널리 사용되는 루버 핀 열교환기에 대한 실험도 수행하였다. 핀 핏치(1.5mm~1.7mm)와 열수(1열~3열)를 변화시키며 열전달 및 압력손실에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 실험범위에서 핀 핏치가 j와 f 인자에 미치는 영향은 크지 않았다. 열수가 증가하면 j와 f 인자 모두 감소하였다. 복합 전열 핀 열교환기의 j와 f 인자가 루버 핀 열교환기의 값들보다 크게 나타났다. 1열의 경우 평균 j 인자와 f 인자는 11%, 43% 크고, 2열에서는 8%, 50%, 3열에서는 17%, 53% 크게 나타났다. 동일 압력 손실 대비 전열 성능은 복합 전열 촉진 핀 열교환기가 1열에서 2.0%, 2열에서 3.1%, 3열에서 8.4% 크게 나타났다. 실험 자료를 기존 루버 핀 상관식과 비교하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 비대칭형 슬릿 핀 열교환기의 습표면 열전달 및 압력손실에 대하여 실험적으로 검토하였다. 비교를 위하여 널리 사용되는 루버 핀 열교환기에 대한 실험도 수행하였다. 실험범위에서 핀 핏치가 j와 f 인자에 미치는 영향은 크지 않았다. 또한 루버 핀 시료의 j와 f 인자가 슬릿 핀 시료의 값들보다 크게 나타났다. 1열의 경우 평균 j 인자와 f 인자는 27%, 31% 크고, 2열에서는 15%, 30% 크게 나타났다. 슬릿 핀과 루버 핀 모두 열수가 증가하면 j와 f 인자가 감소하였다. 슬릿 핀의 평균 j/f가 루버 핀보다 1열에서 3.4%, 2열에서 11.5% 크게 나타났다. 본 데이터로부터 새로운 상관식을 도출하였다.

  • Heat transfer and pressure drop on the air side of a plate-louvered fin heat exchanger with new shape of louver fin have been investigated experimentally. Water is employed inside the flat tube to transfer heat with air for convenience. This problem is of particular interest in the design of a plate-louvered heat exchanger. The effect of air flow rate, water flow rate and water temperature on pressure drop as well as heat transfer in air side are studied in detail. The present results showed a good agreement qualitatively with the previous results in general. Based on the experimental data, f-factor and j -factor correlations of the present louvered-fin are suggested. It is also found that heat transfer could be enhanced with new shape of louver fin, compared with the conventional louvered-fin, while the f-factor remains unchanged.

  • Thermal performance of louver fin and plate fin in a thermoelectric cooling system with a duct-flow type fan arrangement is analytically evaluated. The thermoelectric cooling system consists of a thermoelectric module and two heat exchanger fins. The analytic results show that the optimized louver fin has lower thermal resistance than plate fin. The COP and heat absorbed rate of the thermoelectric cooling system with optimized louver fins are 10.3% and 5.8% higher than optimized plate fins, respectively.

루버휜 최적 설계 및 최적 모델의 열유동 특성 분석 (Louvered Fin Heat Exchanger : Optimal Design and Numerical Investigation of Heat and Flow Characteristics)

  • This paper presents a numerical optimization of louvered fins to enhance the JF factor in terms of the design parameters, including the fin pitch, the number of louvers, the louver angle, the fin thickness, and the re-direction louver length. We carried out a parametric study to select the three most important parameters affecting the JF factor, which were the fin pitch, number of louvers, and the louver angle. We optimally designed the louvered fin by using 3rd-order full factorial design, the kriging method, and a micro genetic algorithm. Consequently, the JF factor of the optimum model increased by 16% compared to that of the base model. Moreover, the optimum model reduced the pressure drop by 17% with a comparable heat transfer rate.

  • The heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of heat exchangers with louver fins were experimentally investigated. The samples had small fin pitches (1.0 mm to 1.4 mm), and experiments were conducted up to a very low frontal air velocity (as low as 0.3 m/s). At a certain Reynolds number (critical Reynolds number), the flattening of the heat transfer coefficient curve was observed. The critical Reynolds number was insensitive to the louver angle, and decreased as the louver pitch to fin pitch ratio (L$_{p}$F$_{p}$) decreased. Existing correlations on the critical Reynolds number did not adequately predict the data. It is suggested that, for proper assessment of the heat transfer behavior, the louver pattern in addition to the flow characterization need to be considered. The heat transfer coefficient increased as the fin pitch decreased. At low Reynolds numbers, however, the trend was reversed. Possible explanation is provided considering the louver pattern between neighboring fins. Different from the heat transfer coefficient, the friction factor did not show the flattening characteristic. The reason may be attributed to the form drag by louvers, which offsets the decreased skin friction at a low Reynolds number. The friction factor increased as the fin pitch decreased and the louver angle increased. A new correlation predicted 92% of the heat transfer coefficient and 90% of the friction factor within $\pm$10%.10%.

  • This study presents comparison of the air side heat transfer and friction characteristics in a heating condition between Louver fin-tube heat exchangers and aluminum heat exchangers. Experiments are performed for the Louver fin-tube heat exchangers and aluminum heat exchangers using a calorimeter, which is designed based on air-enthalpy method described in ASHRAE standards. The air velocities its are varied from 0.7 to 1.6 m/s with 0.3 m/s interval. A study result shows that the heat transfer performances of aluminum heat exchangers are $40{\sim}80%$ higher than those of Louver fin-tube heat exchangers per unit volume, mass and heat transfer area.
