  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction for development of function materials integrating mathematics and science. First, we must investigate curricular scope and sequence of mathematics and science. Second, the science contexts selected need to support the mathematics concepts, not overwhelm them. The mathematics can easily get lost if science becomes too complicated. We may be tempted, which can result in misconceptions that are hard to correct later. Third, Many different examples of mathematics-science integration exist, therefore, it is important to find rich science contexts to connect with mathematics.

  • In recent years devastation on coasts worldwide has led to barren grounds resulting in the loss of the natural population of many marine organisms and macrophytes. Furthermore, fishery resources such as abalone, fish and seaweeds have been depleted (Serisawa and Ohno, 1995). Since 1980, many fishery scientists and phycologists have tried to create artificial seaweed beds using various technique in order to recover lost seaweed beds (Ohno, 1993; Choi et al., 2000). Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus가 생산하는 Bacteriocin의 특성 (Characteristics of the Bacteriocin Produced from Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus)

  • One bacterial strain, that had made the largest inhibition zone at the antagonism assay and also that lost the inhibition activity by the protease treatment, was isolated from raw milk. That strain was identified as Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus. The specific growht rate of this strain was maximum at 45$\circ $C. However, at this temperature the strain produced no bacteriocin. The bacteriocin activity was quite stable even at high temperature. Moreover, the activity of the vacteriocin was sensitive to proteases. but not to $\alpha $-amylase, DNase I, or RNase.

  • In this paper, we present a scheme for the improving reliable transport and the efficient multicast support in mobile environment. The proposed scheme solves a problem of TCP layer resulted from mobility by using a Representative FA. RFA has a mechanism like a snoop module which has a cache and can provide retransmission of a multicast packet lost and solve the rock implosion problem. Also, we present an additional IGMP message. By using it, We can remove a delay for IGMP query cycle and serve a multicast service more promptly.

  • Collision avoidance is a method to direct a mobile robot without collision when traversing the environment. This kind of navigation is to reach a destination without getting lost. In this paper, we use a genetic algorithm for the path planning and collision avoidance. Genetic algorithm searches for path in the entire, continuous free space and unifies global path planning and local path planning. It is a efficient and effective method when compared with traditional collision avoidance algorithm.

  • An experimental investigation on the ultimate load and energy absorption of thin plates is presented, which enables the damage to ship involved in a collision to be estimated in terms of the lost kinetic energy. The derived formulae are based upon experimental analysis and compared with theoretical presentations published by some authors. A relationship is found between the absorbed energy and the volume of damaged steel plates.

  • In this paper, a deterministic EOQ model with interest rate in which a proportion (${\beta}$) of the demand is backlogged and the rest (1-${\beta}$) is lost. The optimal order quantity is derived and the corresponding average cost is obtained, Sensitivity analysis is performed to sec the influence of interest rate on the optimal order quantity and the average cost. Finally a numerical example is given in which optimum quantities of the model developed in this study and those of the conventional EOQ model are compared.

  • This paper describes the possible undesier-able side effects that thyristor controlled compensation may have upon in several relays. This process consisted of calculating line conditions for each of the fault, compensation and loading levels. In some cases their effectiveness at coordinating compensated lines is lost, as they no longer can always accurately determine "distances" to faults.

  • The last decades railroad transport has lost market share to cars, trucks and airplanes. Rail companies could not compete in flexibility, speed, cost and quality. The new technology developments of rail transport are focused on high speed. But not all technology is easily transferable from one society to another, if for no other reasons than those attributable to differences in economic, demographic, and geographic factors. This case study is focused on the technological transfer process and items of Korea's high speed rail system and also compares with the Japanese Shinkansen and German ICE.
