  • Power conversion system must be increased switching frequency in order to achieve a small size, a light weight and a low noise. However, the switches of converter are subjected to high switching power losses and switching stresses. As a result of those, the power system brings on a low efficiency. To improved these, a large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit has been prosed. But these circuits increase number of switch in circuit and complicate sequence of switching operation. In this paper, the authors propose a high power factor and high efficiency DC-DC converter using single-pulse soft switching by partial resonant switching node. The switching devices in a prosed circuit are operated with soft switching by the partial resonant method, that is, Partial Resonant Switch Mode Power Converter. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step up and a condenser of loss-less snubber. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. Also the proposed converter is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used. Some simulative results on computer results are included to confirm the validity of the analytical results.

  • In this paper, the phase-shift full-bridge DC/DC converter with fixed-phase operation inverter is proposed. The proposed circuit consists of two full-bridge inverters which are connected in parallel. While one full-bridge inverter operates as the fixed-phase, it regulates the output voltage by adjusting the phase of the other inverter. During the normal operation period, the proposed circuit makes the less amount of conduction loss of the primary switches and secondary synchronous rectifiers, as well as the less amount of the current ripple of the output inductor, than the conventional phase-shift full-bridge DC/DC converter does. Also, it achieves high efficiency by reducing the snubber loss of the secondary synchronous rectifier. To sum up, the present inquiry analyzes the theoretical characteristics of the proposed circuit, and shows the experimental results from a prototype for 450W power supply.

  • This paper is study on a new high efficiency DC-DC converter of discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) with zero voltage switching (ZVS). The converters of high efficiency are generally made that the power loss of the used semiconductor switching devices is minimized. The proposed converter is accomplished that the turn-on operation of switches is on zero current switching (ZCS) by DCM. The converter is also applicable to a new quasi-resonant circuit to achieve high efficiency converter. The control switches using in the converter are operated with soft switching, that is, ZVS and ZCS by quasi-resonant method. The control switches are operated without increasing their voltage and current stresses by the soft switching technology. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of the converter is high. The soft switching operation and the system efficiency of the proposed DCM-ZVS converter are verified by digital simulation and experimental results.

  • In HVDC thyristor valves, more than 95% of heat loss occurs in snubber resistors and valve reactors. In order to dissipate the heat from the valves and to suppress the electrolytic current, water with a high heat capacity and a low conductivity of less than 0.2 uS/cm must be used as a refrigerant of the heat sink. The cooling parts must also be arranged to reduce the electrolytic current, whereas the pipe that supplies water to the thyristor heat sink must have the same electric potential as the valve. Corrosion is mainly caused by electrochemical reactions and the influence of water quality and leakage current. This paper identifies the refrigerants involved in the ionization, electrical conductivity, and corrosion in HVDC thyristor valves. A method for preventing corrosion is then introduced. The design of the heat sink with an excellent heat radiation is also analyzed in detail.
