Recent studies have revealed that collagen peptide (CP) plays a protective role in skin by improving the activity of antioxidants and acts as an inducer of skin regeneration by positive feedback. In this study, we focused on the beneficial effect of reinforcing the CP skin barrier. To evaluate the skin barrier, hairless mice were exposed to UVB irradiation and acetone-treatment, with or without oral administration of CP. The effects on skin appearance, trans-epidermal water loss, epidermal thickness, and cytokine content were measured using bioengineering and histochemical methods. In the CP treated group, the skin had better appearance and less damage than that of the control. Furthermore, in HaCaT cells, the amount of serinepalmytoyl transferase (SPT) mRNA increased by about 1.6-fold after treatment (CP, 100 mg/L), reflecting that CP can induce SPT expression and reinforce the recovery of skin barrier function. These results suggest that CP is not only an anti-wrinkling agent but also a potent candidate as an epidermal moisturizer.

Innovative freezing technology is currently applied to preserve foodstuffs for long-term storage. Generally, the quality of frozen food is closely related to the types of freezing and thawing processes. In this study, we characterized the physicochemical properties of onions depending on freezing rate. When onions were frozen at $-40^{\circ}C$, freezing rates were 0.1, 0.5, and $0.7^{\circ}C/min$ depending on air-blast quick freezer mode. Onions were thawed by microwave irradiation at 400 W. Hardness of onion dramatically decreased after freezing and thawing compared with blanched onion. However, the fastest freezing rate did not affect hardness. Thawing loss of onion decreased with a faster freezing rate. For morphological observation, onion frozen at a faster rate showed a smaller ice-crystal size. Vitamin C content decreased upon blanching or freezing, but there was no significant difference according to freezing rate. Although free sugar content also decreased upon blanching and freezing, its highest content was at $0.7^{\circ}C/min$ freezing. Among organic acids, malic acid content was highest at $0.7^{\circ}C/min$ freezing. Based on this study, it could be suggested that a faster freezing rate is effective to improve frozen food quality in accordance with preventing tissue damage or minimizing destruction of nutrients.

Recently, domestic small and medium-sized subcontractors participating in the overseas construction market are suffering from the continuous loss and damage due to the insufficient recognition of the importance of risk Sub-Clauses among conditions of subcontracts. Therefore, the need to derive risk Sub-Clauses for conditions of the subcontract has been raised, but until now, previous studies have been conducted focusing on deriving risk Sub-Clauses for standard conditions of contract for construction between the Employer and the Contractor. In this study, 52 risk Sub-Clauses were derived on the basis of the influence size of the Sub-Clauses through the Delphi technique targeting 94 Sub-Clauses of conditions of standard subcontract for construction edition 2011, issued by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and In addition, 33 key risk Sub-Clauses were finally derived through the PI Risk Matrix by Probability and Impact. The results of this study provide will useful information on key risk Sub-Clauses that need to be reviewed in advance to minimize contractual risks at the stage of bidding and signing contracts for overseas subcontract construction projects.
A review was undertaken to obtain information on the sustainability of pig free-range production systems including the management, performance and health of pigs in the system. Modern outdoor rearing systems requires simple portable and flexible housing with low cost fencing. Local pig breeds and outdoor-adapted breeds for certain environment are generally more suitable for free-range systems. Free-range farms should be located in a low rainfall area and paddocks should be relatively flat, with light topsoil overlying free-draining subsoil with the absence of sharp stones that can cause foot damage. Huts or shelters are crucial for protecting pigs from direct sun burn and heat stress, especially when shade from trees and other facilities is not available. Pigs commonly graze on strip pastures and are rotated between paddocks. The zones of thermal comfort for the sow and piglet differ markedly; between 12-22$^{\circ}C$ for the sow and 30-37$^{\circ}C$ for piglets. Offering wallows for free-range pigs meets their behavioural requirements, and also overcomes the effects of high ambient temperatures on feed intake. Pigs can increase their evaporative heat loss via an increase in the proportion of wet skin by using a wallow, or through water drips and spray. Mud from wallows can also coat the skin of pigs, preventing sunburn. Under grazing conditions, it is difficult to control the fibre intake of pigs although a high energy, low fibre diet can be used. In some countries outdoor sows are fitted with nose rings to prevent them from uprooting the grass. This reduces nutrient leaching of the land due to less rooting. In general, free-range pigs have a higher mortality compared to intensively housed pigs. Many factors can contribute to the death of the piglet including crushing, disease, heat stress and poor nutrition. With successful management, free-range pigs can have similar production to door pigs, although the growth rate of the litters is affected by season. Piglets grow quicker indoors during the cold season compared to outdoor systems. Pigs reared outdoors show calmer behaviour. Aggressive interactions during feeding are lower compared to indoor pigs while outdoor sows are more active than indoor sows. Outdoor pigs have a higher parasite burden, which increases the nutrient requirement for maintenance and reduces their feed utilization efficiency. Parasite infections in free-range pigs also risks the image of free-range pork as a clean and safe product. Diseases can be controlled to a certain degree by grazing management. Frequent rotation is required although most farmers are keeping their pigs for a longer period before rotating. The concept of using pasture species to minimise nematode infections in grazing pigs looks promising. Plants that can be grown locally and used as part of the normal feeding regime are most likely to be acceptable to farmers, particularly organic farmers. However, one of the key concerns from the public for free-range pig production system is the impact on the environment. In the past, the pigs were held in the same paddock at a high stocking rate, which resulted in damage to the vegetation, nutrient loading in the soil, nitrate leaching and gas emission. To avoid this, outdoor pigs should be integrated in the cropping pasture system, the stock should be mobile and stocking rate related to the amount of feed given to the animals.

This study analyzed the composition and structure of materials with Buddhist paper scriptures excavated from architectural sites in 'Sum Tolgoi' of the 17th century and carried out conservation treatment base on the result of the analysis. The scriptures were covered in dust and foreign sub stances, and were so crumpled that it was impossible to identify the form. The damage, loss, and discoloration have been identified. Buddhist scriptures written in Tibetan used indigo and ink sticks on paper as a result of UV-Vis analysis, and ink sticks as black character materials from scriptures written ancient Mongolian. SEM-EDS and Micro-XRF analyses revealed that the outlines were drawn with red lines using a mix of Minium (Pb3O4) and Cinnabar (HgS), or Cinnabar (HgS) alone, and the contents of the scriptures were written with silver paint. Silver chloride (AgCl) and Calcium (Ca) were identified in the silver paint component of the characters, while Calcium and Orpiment (As2S3) were identified in the yellow lines. Concerning the paper ground, Buddhist scriptures written in ancient Mongolian were characterized by herbal plant fiber and bast fiber, and those written in Tibetan, by bast fiber. Radiocarbon dating indicates that the paper for the scriptures was produced between the 15th and 17th centuries. Conservation treatment of the scriptures was carried out based on the experiment on the production of pre-coated paper and how to coat that to prevent the second damage due to the deformation and fragility of the excavated paper. The scriptures were preserved and mounted, and a neutral box was made to identify the contents of the scriptures recorded on both sides after the treatment. This conservation treatment is the result of a study that applied new conservation treatment materials and methods according to the principle of conservation treatment reversibility.

The purpose of this study is to identify the BMI, diet perception and diet behavior of female university students. A descriptive survey design was used 165 students from October 29 to November 9, 2018. Data were analyzed using mean, t-test, ANOVA, cross analysis with SPSS 21.0. Total diet perception was 3.44 points, highest sub category was 'practice' with 4.00 points, followed by 'information and education' with 3.58 points, 'necessity' with 3.32 points and lowest category was 'self-recognition' with 2.84. 65 students(43.0%) were 'less than three times' in 'Number of diets' and diet methods was 65(43.0%) for 'food control' and 62(41.1%) for 'exercise'. During in a week, 98 students(84.9%) exercised within three hours, followed by 33(21.9%) who did not exercised at all. 22 students(14.6%) said they experienced damage from dieting, while the types included gastrointestinal disease, menstrual irregularity and hair loss. The total score of diet perception according to BMI was lower in the underweight group than in the normal and overweight groups(p<.001). In diet 'practice' category, low weight group scored lower than normal weight and overweight groups(p<.05). In 'information and education' category, overweight group scored the highest, followed by normal and underweight groups(p<.001). In diet 'necessity' and 'self-recognition' categories, low weight group scored lower than normal weight and overweight groups(p<.001). Diet behavior by diet perception was different in number and method of diet(p<.001). Based on the results, it is thought that attention and education are needed to form a proper diet perception and maintain healthy living for female university students.

The ultrasonic method, which is well known as non-destructive test method, is widely used to evaluate the material damage caused by degradation practically. However, this method is just used for measuring the crack size and the thickness loss of tube. The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of the ultrasonic technique for the evaluation of carburized material and to suggest the correlations between the ultrasonic characteristics and carburized degradation. The miniaturized specimens($40{\times}20{\times}6.3mm$) are adopted from the HK-40 (25Cr-20Ni-0.4C) centrifugal cast tube after carburization treatment. Carburization was carried at $1200^{\circ}C$ by the pack method. The results of ultrasonic test present that the longitudinal wave velocity increased with the increase of carburized depth. The correlation between the longitudinal wave velocity and carburization was changed with the density and Young's modulus. Therefore, the average velocity in the materials carburized for 336 hours and the unused one were 5,840 m/s and 5,755 m/s at 5 MHz, respectively. With the obtained results from this study, it can be recognized that the technique using the ultrasonic velocity property is very useful method to evaluate the degree of carburized material non-destructively.
According to own investigation conducted by Korea Gas Safety Corporation Gas Safety Research Institute in 2017, the length of underground pipes in domestic high-pressure gas pipelines is approximately 770km, of which 84% is buried in Ulsan and Yeosu industrial complexes. In particular, 56% of underground pipelines have been in operation for more than 20 years. This suggests urgent management of buried high pressure gas pipelines. PHMSA in US and EGIG in Europe, major causes of accidents in buried gas pipelines are reported as third party damage, external corrosion and loss of pipe wall thickness. Therefore, it is important to evaluate whether the defects affect the remaining life of the pipe when defects occur in the pipe. DNV and ASME have evaluated the residual strength of pipelines through the hydraulic rupture test using pipe specimens with artifact flaws. Once the operating pressure is known through the residual strength of the pipe, the wall thickness at the point at which the pipe ruptures is calculated. If we know the accurate rate of corrosion growth, we can predict the remaining life of pipe. In the study, we carried out experiments with A53 Grade.B and A106 Grade.B, which account for 80% of domestic buried pipes. In order to modify the existing model equation, specimens with a defect depth of 80% to 90% was tested, and a formula expressing the relationship between defect and residual strength was made.

Objectives: Chunghyul-dan is a combinatorial herbal medicine, and previous studies reported it had therapeutic effects for microangiopathy, which is a major part. in the progression of stroke, as well as having anti-hypertensive, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-apoptotic, anti-oxidative, and anti-inflammatory activities, Therefore, we examined the inhibitory effect of Chunghyul-dan on stroke occurrence in patients with silent brain infarction. Methods: We prescribed Chunghyul-dan at 600 mg a day to patients with silent brain infarction confirmed by brain MRI, and monitored stroke occurrence, drug compliances, and adverse effects for 1 year, We then performed follow-up brain MRI to detect new vascular lesions after 1 year of Chunghyul-dan medication. As for the subjects lost to follow-up, we assessed their prognosis after 1 year by telephone. Results: There were twenty-one subjects who were treated with Chunghyul-dan for more than 1 year, None of them experienced new clinical syndromes characterized by rapidly developing clinical symptoms and signs of focal and at times global loss of brain function, which could be accompanied with evidence of stroke occurrence, or any adverse effects during the Chunghyul-dan medication period. These results might be explained by various biochemical effects of Chunghyul-dan on microangiopathy, which is closely related with cell cycle progression, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, vascular inflammation, and oxidative damage. Of the 10 subjects lost to follow-up, six were reached; two of them had stroke occurrence. Conclusions: We suggest Chunghyul-dan could be useful for prevention of stroke occurrence in patients with silent brain infarction by preventing the progression of microangiopathy. Further study with a randomized controlled trial is needed to confirm this suggestion.
Excessive tooth wear results in unacceptable damage to the occlusal surface and can cause pulpitis, occlusal disharmony, dysfunction, and unesthetic result. Patients with severe attrition have to be classified as several types relative to the vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) and the interocclusal distance for the prosthetic space. The patient in this case was a 80 - year - old woman who lost support of posterior occlusion and collapsed of the occlusal plane due to confrontation of the opposing teeth, accompanied by an increase in the number of remaining bristles, resulting in a loss of intermaxillary space for prosthesis. In this case, treatment with increased vertical dimension may have stability if the increase in vertical occlusal height is minimized within the required range, and a stable occlusal contact is provided after an increased vertical occlusal height stabilization period. After the new VDO had been confirmed under interim fixed restorations, definitive fixed restorations were produced. Through these treatment processes, we obtain satisfactory results that are functional and aesthetically pleasing.
