  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to apply the Bayesian estimation methodology for producing 'Korean Standard -Quality Excellence Index' model and prove the effectiveness of the new approach based on survey data by comparing the current index with the new index produced by Bayesian estimation method. Methods: The 'Korean Standard -Quality Excellence Index' was produced through the collected survey data by Bayesian estimation method and comparing the deviation with two results for confirming the effectiveness of suggested application. Results: The statistical analysis result shows that suggested estimator, that is, empirical Bayes estimator improves the effectiveness of the index with regard to reduce the error under specific loss function, which is suggested for checking the goodness of fit. Conclusion: Considering the Bayesian techniques such as empirical Bayes estimator for producing the quality excellence index reduces the error for estimating the parameter of interest and furthermore various Bayesian perspective approaches seems to be meaningful for producing the corresponding index.

  • Working-day calculation with weather factors of construction-site has estimated wethout proper data. They usually estimate it with their own experience and intuition. It causes not only economic loss to time-adjustment but also conflict with each participants. Moreover, weather estimation becomes worse than before, due to tendency of recently weather change. So, in this paper we present optimal estimation method as assessment by period of the arithmetical mean methods. For that, we analyse characteristic of the regions and weather change of temperature and rainfall which affects time.

  • In the variable-speed wind energy system, to achieve maximum power point tracking (MPPT), the wind turbine should run close to its optimal angular speed according to the wind speed. Non-linear control methods that consider the dynamic behavior of wind speed are generally used to provide maximum power and improved efficiency. In this perspective, the mechanical power is estimated using Kalman filter. And then, from the estimated mechanical power, the wind speed is estimated with Newton-Raphson method to achieve maximum power without anemometer. However, the blade shape and air density get changed with time and the generator efficiency is also degraded. This results in incorrect estimation of wind speed and MPPT. It causes not only the power loss but also incorrect wind resource assessment of site. In this paper, the adaptive maximum power point tracking control algorithm for wind turbine system based on the estimation of wind speed is proposed. The proposed method applies correction factor to wind turbine system to have accurate wind speed estimation for exact MPPT. The proposed method is validated with numerical simulations and the results show an improved performance.

  • This paper proposes a fast motion estimation method which can reduce the computational complexity of HEVC encoding process. While the previous method determines its search range based on a distance between a current and a reference pictures to accelerate the time-consuming motion estimation, the proposed method adaptively sets the search range according to motion vector difference between prediction units. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves about 10.7% of reduction in processing time of motion estimation under the random access configuration whereas its coding efficiency loss is less than 0.1%.

  • In a spark ignition engine, a variable valve lift (VVL) system has been developed for high fuel efficiency and low power loss. However, changes in valve lift cause deviations of cylinder air charge which lead to individual cylinder equivalence ratio maldistribution. In this study, in order to reduce the maldistribution, we propose individual cylinder equivalence ratio estimation and control algorithms. The estimation algorithm calculates the equivalence ratio of each cylinder by using a mathematical engine model which includes air charging, fuel film, exhaust gas, and universal exhaust gas oxygen sensor (UEGO) dynamics at various valve lifts. Based on the results of estimated equivalence ratio, the injection quantity of each cylinder is adjusted to control the individual cylinder equivalence ratio. Estimation and control performance are validated by engine experiments. Experimental results represented that the equivalence ratio maldistribution and variation are decreased by the proposed algorithms.

  • Non-working days affected by weather conditions of the construction-sites have been estimated without proper data. They are usually estimated based on project engineer's own experience and intuition. As a result, they cause not only economic loss to time-adjustment but also conflicts among project participants. It becomes more difficult to predict the weather nowadays than before due to tendency of recently weather change. Therefore, this paper presents an improved estimation method for non-working days, which could minimize estimation errors. The estimation method is developed based on analysis of regional characteristics and weather conditions which affect project duration.

  • In this paper, we propose a path loss model with the multiple antennas and doppler shift for high speed railroad communication. Path loss model is very important in order to design consider diverse characteristic in high-speed train communication. Currently wireless communication systems use the multiple antennas in order to improve the channel capacity or diversity gain. However, until recently, many researches on path loss model only consider geographical environment between the transmitter and the receiver. There is no study about path loss model considering diversity effect and doppler shift. In order to make average residuals considering doppler shift we use tuned free space path loss model which is utilized for measurement results at high speed railroad. The environment of high speed rail is mostly at viaduct and flatland over than 50 percent. And in order to make average residuals considering multiple antenna we use theoretical estimation of diversity gain with MRC scheme. proposed model predict loss of received signal by estimating average residuals between diversity effect and doppler shift.

  • Designing a reliable multicast-based network that scales to the size of a multicast group member is difficult because of the diversity of user demands. The loss inferences of internal nodes by end-to-end measurements do not require the use of complete statistics because of the use of maximum likelihood estimation. These schemes are very efficient and the inferred value converges fast to its true value. In the theoretical analysis, internal delay estimation is possible but the analysis is very complex due to the continuity property of the delay. In this paper, we propose the use of a bottleneck location estimator. This can overcome the analytical difficulty of the delay estimation using the power spectrum of the packet interarrival time as the performance metric. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme can be used for bottleneck location inference of internal links in scalable multicasting.

  • In this paper the estimation of the parameters as well as survival and hazard functions are presented for the two-parameter Pareto distribution by using Bayesian and non-Bayesian approaches under upper record values. Maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) and interval estimation are derived for the parameters. Bayes estimators of reliability performances are obtained under symmetric (Squared error) and asymmetric (Linex and general entropy (GE)) losses, when two parameters have discrete and continuous priors, respectively. Finally, two numerical examples with real data set and simulated data, are presented to illustrate the proposed method. An algorithm is introduced to generate records data, then a simulation study is performed and different estimates results are compared.

  • The ship radiated noise level fluctuates by the difference of interference and reverberation according to measurement methods and environmental conditions. These phenomena cause error of the source level estimation even in the same environment conditions. This paper describes a quantitative analysis and a reduction method for an error value to the source level estimation in spatial and temporal interference environment. The design criteria of the radiated noise measurement array composed of omni-directional hydrophones and the source level accuracy in the deep water range are given. The source level accuracy in the shallow water range is also derived based on the statistical model of the multiple reflection paths. The results are verified using the water tank experiment and the sea trial.
