  • A Bayes estimator of the scale parameter in an exponential distribution will be considered by a LINEX error, then the risk of the Bayes estimator using a LINEX loss will be compared with that of a Bayes estimator using a square error.

  • This study is concerned with the loss rate calculation for evaluating the safety of aircraft series. The objective of this study is to provide the estimation method of safety for the determination of aircraft series, when the aircraft is directly purchased off-the-shelf or co-produced. Especially, in case the initial operation capabilities of alternative aircrafts are substantially different, this research proposes the modified cumulative average method which can effectively estimate the safety of aircraft.

  • This paper proposes a novel efficiency measurement method without dynamometer. In case of small motor, the measurement of efficiency is not easy because the percentage of mechanical loss is comparably huge and the mechanical loss is not easy to be measured. In this paper, the authors proposes a method which can measure the efficiency with two test motors. This method can be useful to engineers who study small electrical motors.

  • Let $X_1, ....$X_P be p($\geq$2) independent random variables, where each X1 has a gamma distribution with $k_i and ${\heta}_i$. The problem is to simultaneously estimate p gammar parameters ${\heta}_i$ under entropy loss where the parameters are believed priori. Hierarchical bayes(HB) and empirical bayes(EB) estimators are investigated. Next computer simulation is studied to compute the risk percentage improvement of the HB, EB and the estimator of Dey et al.(1987) compared to MVUE of ${\heta}$.

  • For estimating the error variance under the relative squared error loss in two-way analysis of variance models, we provide a class of hierarchical Bayes estimators and then derive a subclass of the hierarchical Bayes estimators, each member of which dominates the best multiple of the error sum of squares which is known to be minimax. We also identify a subclass of non-minimax hierarchical Bayes estimators.

  • The problem of estimating the reliability using the Bayesian approach and the prior information about tile reliability of a lognormal distribution is considered. Some Bayes estimators are proposed and studied under the squared error loss and tile Harris loss. Also Monte Carlo simulations are carried out to examine the performances of the proposed estimators and results are provided in the tables.

  • This study provides considerations for quantitative risk assessment of landslide on GIS technology. It shows how the landslide possibility analysis is linked by GIS modeling to provide loss estimation tools for landslide hazards in support of socio-economic loss reduction efforts. Those risk assessment results can deliver factual damage situation prediction to policy making for the landslide damage mitigation.

  • For the mean vector of a p-variate normal distribution ($p{\geq}4$), the optimal estimation within the class of modified James-Stein type decision rules under the quadratic loss is given when the underlying distribution is that of a variance mixture of normals and when the norm ${\parallel}{\theta}-\bar{\theta}1{\parallel}$ it known.

  • We studied the dielectric and dynamic mechanical losses according to the quenching condition in low density polyethylene being used to power cables. According to severe quenching condition, characteristics of the temperature in internal friction los peak have decreased the magnitude of loss peak as amorphous region lengthen. From now on, the frequency dependent characteristics of dielectric loss have investigated at room temperature, and the dielectric loss peak due to interface polarization, between crystal and amorphous region, occurs about 30[Hz], and that, the peak due to orientation polarization in correspondence to the loss peak in internal friction has observed at about 3 [MHz]. As quenching velocity increased, the effect on quenching condition about the dielectric loss has decreased the magnitude of the loss peak. Thus, estimation has been carried out on the activation energies nd the degree of crystallinity by means of X-ray diffraction are obtained as follows: room quenching : 26.4 [kal/mole] and 54.73 [%], ice quenching : 25.6 [kcal/mole] and 48.47 [%], liquid nitrogen quenching specimens : 22.56 [kcal/mole] and 40.95 [%].
