Influence of connection detailing on the performance of wall-to-wall vertical connections under cyclic loading

  • In high rise buildings that utilize precast large panel system for construction, the shear wall provides strength and stiffness during earthquakes. The performance of a wall panel system depends mainly on the type of connection used to transfer the forces from one wall element to another wall element. This paper presents an experimental investigation on different types of construction detailing of the precast wall to wall vertical connections under reverse cyclic loading. One of the commonly used connections in India to connect wall to wall panel is the loop bar connection. Hence for this study, three types of wet connections and one type of dry connection namely: Staggered loop bar connection, Equally spaced loop bar connection, U-Hook connection, and Channel connection respectively were used to connect the precast walls. One third scale model of the wall was used for this study. The main objective of the experimental work is to evaluate the performance of the wall to wall connections in terms of hysteretic behaviour, ultimate load carrying capacity, energy dissipation capacity, stiffness degradation, ductility, viscous damping ratio, and crack pattern. All the connections exhibited similar load carrying capacity. The U-Hook connection exhibited higher ductility and energy dissipation when compared to the other three connections.

  • Recently, to overcome the disadvantages of RC decks, advanced countries such as Japan and USA, and Europe are using prestressing connection precast decks and loop connection precast decks. The prestressing connection precast deck, however, has a weakness against steel corrosion, because of unreliable enforced grouting. The relatively low loading and fatigue capacities of the loop connection precast deck make it difficult to be used for the bridge that requires high fatigue resistance due to the frequent over loaded vehicles. This research proposes the improved connecting method for the precast decks to minimize its shortcomings based on both numerical analyses and full scale model tests. The proposed method maximizes the advantages of precast decks and extends it's service life.

프리캐스트 아치구조의 이음부 구조 거동 평가 (Evaluation of Structural Behavior of Connections in Precast Arch Structures)

  • 이 논문에서는 프리캐스트로 제작된 아치 구조의 연결을 위한 루프 이음 상세를 제안하였다. 설계기준에서 제시하고 있는 루프 이음 상세의 요구사항을 만족하는 경우와 시공성을 개선하기 위한 상세 대안들에 대한 평가를 위한 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 설계 요구사항을 만족하는 경우에는 프리캐스트 아치 실험체가 현장타설 일체형 부재에 비해서 높은 내하력을 나타내었다. 아치구조의 크라운 부위에서의 균열은 초기 균열 발생 이후 증가되는 압축력 효과로 인해서 0.2 mm를 초과하지 않는 균열폭이 발생하였다. 초기 균열 제어에 노치부의 와이어메쉬 보강이 효과를 보였고 철근 커플러와 확대머리철근을 이용한 연결부 상세도 기준 부재 이상의 내하력을 나타내었다. 시공성 개선 상세의 경우 구조적 거동에 차이를 보이지 않아서 작업자의 배근 시공성을 개선할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 루프철근의 내면 반지름과 겹침 이음 길이는 현재의 설계기준의 요구사항을 만족시키지 않으면 균열폭 제어 측면에서 좋지 않은 결과를 나타내었다.

프리캐스트 콘크리트 벽체 수직접합부의 광폭형 연결방식 개발 (Development of Wide Connection Method for Vertical Joints of Precast Concrete Walls)

  • 이 연구에서는 프리캐스트 콘크리트 구조시스템에서 기존에 사용되고 있는 벽체의 수직접합부의 시공 및 문제점을 최소화하기 위해 접합부의 폭을 100 mm에서 150 mm로 증가시키고 연결방식을 3가지로 하여 구조적 성능 및 적용성에 대해 분석하였다. 또한, 해석적으로 구조적 성능을 파악하기 위해 비선형 유한 요소 해석법으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 광폭형 연결부를 가진 접합부를 적용하였을 때, PC벽체에 가해지는 하중을 더 효율적으로 철근이 분담하여 내력이 증가하고 연성적인 거동을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 접합부 루프근의 단면적이 커질수록 그리고 철근 개수가 증가할수록 최대내력이 증가하며 광폭형 접합부 형식 중에 용접형-링형-C형의 순서로 내력이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 용접형의 경우 현장조건에 따른 변화가 발생할 수 있으므로 광폭형 연결 부위를 링형 접합부로 하는 것이 안정적인 거동을 하며 현장 용접의 철저한 품질관리가 필요하다.

  • 본 연구에서는 장어 통발어선 자동화 조업장치 개발의 첫 단계로서 통발을 모릿줄에 기계적으로 연결, 분리할 수 있는 장치인 집게식 통발연결장치 및 통발자동분리장치를 개발하여 해상성능실험을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 집게식 통발연결장치가 무른 꼬임 트와인 고다리 및 된 꼬임 트와인 고다리에 각각 연결되었을 때, 그 사이의 최대 인장하중은 각각 1379 N및 1,603 N 이었다. 2. 집게식 통발연결장치에 대한 해상성능시험 결과 성능이 양호함을 확인하였으며, 통발 회수율은 100% 이었다. 3. 통발자동분리장치에 대한 해상성능시험 결과 성능이 양호함을 확인하였으며, 통발 분리율은 100% 이었다.

A new precast wall connection subjected to monotonic loading

  • Final construction project cost is significantly determined by construction rate. The Industrialized Building System (IBS) was promoted to enhance the importance of prefabrication technology rather than conventional methods in construction. Ensuring the stability of a building constructed by using IBS is a challenging issue. Accordingly, the connections in a prefabricated building have a basic, natural, and essential role in providing the best continuity among the members of the building. Deficiencies of conventional precast connections were observed when precast buildings experience a large induced load, such as earthquakes and other disasters. Thus, researchers aim to determine the behavior of precast concrete structure with a specific type of connection. To clarify this problem, this study investigates the capacity behavior of precast concrete panel connections for industrial buildings with a new type of precast wall-to-wall connection (i.e., U-shaped steel channel connection). This capacity behavior is compared with the capacity behavior of precast concrete panel connections for industrial buildings that used a common approach (i.e., loop connection), which is subjected to monotonic loading as in-plane and out-of-plane loading by developing a finite element model. The principal stress distribution, deformation of concrete panels and welded wire mesh (BRC) reinforcements, plastic strain trend in the concrete panels and connections, and crack propagations are investigated for the aforementioned connection. Pushover analysis revealed that loop connections have significant defects in terms of strength for in-plane and out-of-plane loads at three translational degrees of freedom compared with the U-shaped steel channel connection.

연속 프리캐스트 합성바닥판의 비탄성 거동 (Inelastic Behavior of Continuous Precast Composite Slabs)

  • A prefabricated composite hollow slab with perforated I-beams was suggested for the replacement of deteriorated concrete decks or the construction of new composite bridges with long-span slabs. Composite slabs with embedded I-beams have considerably higher stiffness and strength. For the application of prefabricated composite slabs to bridges, joints between slabs should satisfy the requirements of the ultimate limit state and the serviceability limit state. In this paper, three types of the detail for loop joints were selected and their structural performance in terms of strength and crack control was investigated through static tests on continuous composite slabs. A main parameter was the detail of the joint, such as an ordinary loop joint and loop joint with additional reinforcements. Even though there was no connection of the steel beams at the joints, the loop joints showed good performance in terms of strength. In terms of crack control, the loop joint with additional reinforcements showed better performance. In ultimate limit state, the continuous composite slabs showed good moment redistribution and ductility.

휴대 단말기용 연장 루프안테나 (Extended Loop Antenna for the Mobile Handset)

  • 본 논문에서는 지난 호 브랜치 루프안테나 BLA(Branch Loop Antenna)에 이어 휴대 단말기용 연장 루프안테나를 설계한다. 사각형 루프에 연장 루프를 추가한 ELA(Extended Loop Antenna)를 소개하고, 휴대 단말기에 적용될 수 있음을 보인다. 연장 루프 소자를 사각형 루프안테나 상단 및 좌우양단에 추가하고, 길이를 조절하여 낮은 공진 주파수를 얻는다. 연장 루프에 의한 다중 공진을 얻고, 접속위치와 길이로부터 원하는 대역을 얻는다. 설계한 ELA를 구현한 후 측정으로부터, CDMA/GSM의 낮은 주파수 대역에서 평균이득 -3.0~-1.46dBi 및 50.15~71.41% 효율의 양호한 특성을 얻었고, DCS/USPCS/WCDMA의 높은 주파수 대역에서는 평균이득 -8.28~-1.7dBi 및 14.87~67.68% 효율을 얻었다.

  • The purpose of smart grid is the low $CO_2$ through expansion of renewable energy. To achieve the purpose of smart grid, typical radial power distribution system will be changed to loop power distribution system. The loop power distribution system have many advantages such as low power loss, low voltage drop, and increase of connection of renewable energy. In this paper, the algorithm for minimization of interrupted section of power distribution system is proposed through communication between circuit breaker and recloser in loop power distribution system. The proposed algorithm is proved through case studies about reliability evaluation

전단키를 갖는 프리캐스트 콘크리트 패널 수직접합부의 전단강도 (Shear Strength of Vertical Joints in Precast Concrete Panel with Shear Key)

  • A concrete core is used widely as lateral stability systems in high-rise modular buildings. As an alternative to traditional cast in-situ core, the precast concrete(PC) method can accelerate the construction of reinforced concrete cores. A core composed of precast elements differs from a in-situ core in having connections between the precast elements. The typical vertical connection between PC panels is consisted of shear keys, loop bars, lacer bars and grout. In this study, the effect of vertical connection components on shear strength is investigated experimentally. The test results show that the contribution to the shear strength is greater in order of grout strength, shear keys, lacer bars and loop bars. In addition, the numerical models to estimate the shear strength according to two crack patterns in the vertical joint of the PC panels are derived. The feasibility of the numerical models is evaluated by comparing the estimated shear strength and the test results.
