In this paper, a new design method in which transient response behavior of a servo~system can be improved, is proposed using a bilinear transformation method which assigns the poles of the closed-loop system in a specified region. The servo-system is a dynamic system which follows the given reference input automatically. In the above meaning, the design of a servo-system is similar to a regulator design problem for the extended system which is resulted from the given system and the reference input by the well known internal moel principle. In the design problem of servo control system, it is supposed that the proposed design method has more practical meaning in comparison to the other design methods, in the views of assigning the characteristic roots of the closed loop system in a specified region satisfying a design specification for the given transient response rather than in the exact positions of the poles. The applicability of the design method proposed in this paper was proved by the simulation results for the angle control problem of an electrical servo mechanism.

A half portion of Korean railway bridges depends on the type of steel plate girder bridge. Since these bridges have been built in the early stage of Korean economical boom, numerous maintenance effort suffers from aging and progressive degradation issues at present. In accordance with these efforts, this paper would like to address the detailed analyses of thin steel plates with bolts in order to simulate the connection regions of steel plate girder bridge. The fundamental modal analysis, transient dynamic analysis with 3D piezoelectric element in open circuit loop and signal process with aids of TOF(time of flight) and WC(wavelet coefficient) are extensively discussed.
This paper studies the performances of five typical Phase-locked Loops (PLLs) for distorted and unbalanced grid, which are the Decoupled Double Synchronous Reference Frame PLL (DDSRF-PLL), Double Second-Order Generalized Integrator PLL (DSOGI-PLL), Double Second-Order Generalized Integrator Frequency-Lock Loop (DSOGI-FLL), Double Inverse Park Transformation PLL (DIPT-PLL) and Complex Coefficient Filter based PLL (CCF-PLL). Firstly, the principles of each method are meticulously analyzed and their unified small-signal models are proposed to reveal their interior relations and design control parameters. Then the performances are compared by simulations and experiments to investigate their dynamic and steady-state performances under the conditions of a grid voltage with a negative sequence component, a voltage drop and a frequency step. Finally, the merits and drawbacks of each PLL are given. The compared results provide a guide for the application of current control, low voltage ride through (LVRT), and unintentional islanding detection.
This paper proposes a novel current-based maximum power point tracking (CMPPT) method for a single-phase photovoltaic power conditioning system (PV PCS) by using a modified incremental conductance method. The CMPPT method simplifies the entire control structure of the power conditioning system and uses an inherent current source characteristic of solar cell arrays. Therefore, it exhibits robust and fast response under a rapidly changing environmental condition. Digital phase locked loop technique using an all-pass filter is also introduced to detect the phase of grid voltage, as well as the peak voltage. Controllers of dc/dc boost converter, dc-link voltage, and dc/ac inverter are designed for coordinated operation. Furthermore, a current control using a pseudo synchronous d-q transformation is employed for grid current control with unity power factor. A 3 kW prototype PV PCS is built, and its experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control schemes.
In order to use nervous necrosis virus (NNV) virus-like particles (VLPs) as a delivery tool for heterologous antigens or plasmids, we attempted to produce red-spotted grouper nervous necrosis virus (RGNNV) VLPs displaying a partial region of viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) glycoprotein at the surface and VLPs that are harboring DNA vaccine plasmids within the VLP. A peptide encoding 105 amino acids of VHSV glycoprotein was genetically inserted in the loop region of NNV capsid gene, and VLPs expressing the partial part of VHSV glycoprotein were successfully produced. However, in the transmission electron microscope analysis, the shape and size of the partial VHSV glycoprotein-expressing NNV VLPs were irregular and variable, respectively, indicating that the normal assembly of capsid proteins was inhibited by the relatively long foreign peptide (105 aa) on the loop region. To encapsulate by simultaneous transformation with both NNV capsid gene expressing plasmids and DNA vaccine plasmids (having an eGFP expressing cassette under the CMV promoter), NNV VLPs containing plasmids were produced. The encapsulation of plasmids in the NNV VLPs was demonstrated by PCR and cells exposed to the VLPs encapsulating DNA vaccine plasmids showed fluorescence. These results suggest that the encapsulation of plasmids in NNV VLPs can be done with a simple one-step process, excluding the process of disassembly-reassembly of VLPs, and NNV VLPs can be used as a delivery tool for DNA vaccine vectors.
Sixty-four patients with paradoxical ventricular wall motion noticed both in angiocardiography or 2-dimensional echocardiography were assessed by ECG gated blood pool scan (GBPS). Endless cine loop image, phase and amplitude images and paradox image obtained by visual inspection of each cardiac beat or Fourier transformation of acquired raw data were investigated to determine the incremental value of GBPS with these processing methods for identification of paradoxical ventricular wall motion. The results were as follows: 1) Paradoxical wall motions were observed on interventricular septum in 34 cases, left ventricular free wall in 26 and right ventricular wall in 24. Underlying heart diseases were ischemic (23 cases) valvular(9), congenital heart disease (12), cardiomyopathy (5). pericardial effusion(5), post cardiac surgery(3), col pulmonale (2), endocarditis(1) and right ventricular tumor(1). 2) Left ventricular ejection fractions of patients with paradoxical left ventricular wall motion were significantly lower than those with paradoxical septal motion(p<0.005). 3) The sensitivity of each processing methods for detecting paradoxical wall motion was 76.9% by phase analysis, 74.6% by endless cine loop mapping and 68.4% by paradox image manipultion respectively. Paradoxial motions visualized only in phase, paradox or both images were appeared as hypokinesia or akinesia in cine loop image. 4) All events could be identified by at least one of above three processing methods, however only 34 cases (48.4%) showed the paradoxical molies in all of the three images. By these findings, we concluded that simultaneous inspection of all above three processing methods-endless cine loop, phase analysis and paradox image-is necessary for accurate identification and assessment of paradoxical ventricular wall motion when performing GBPS.
We propose an interactive projection technique to display details of a large image in a high resolution and brightness by tracking a portable projector. A closed-loop based tracking method is presented to update the projected image while a user changes the position of the detail area by moving the portable projector. A marker is embedded in the large image to indicate the position to be occupied by the detail image projected by the portable projector. The marker is extracted in sequential images acquired by a camera attached to the portable projector. The marker position in the large display image is updated under a constraint that the center positions of marker and camera frame coincide in every camera frame. The image and projective transformation for warping are calculated using the marker position and shape in the camera frame. The marker's four corner points are determined by a four-step segmentation process which consists of camera image preprocessing based on HSI, edge extraction by Hough transformation, quadrangle test, and cross-ratio test. The interactive projection system implemented by the proposed method performs at about 24fps. In the user study, the overall feedback about the system usability was very high.

In this paper, a new construction for training simulator of R/C helicopter based on two types of servo controller is proposed. Two modified algorithms (algorithm I and II) for servo controller design are presented. Algorithm I is developed by adopting Davison's method in the case that the expressions for the homogeneous differential equations of reference input and disturbance are different types, and algorithm II is done by considering error weighting function for the servo controller of algorithm I . The linear fractional transformation method is incorporated in both design methods in order to assign the closed loop poles of the servo system in a specified region. The helicopter simulator is composed by the gimbals with two freedom of rolling and pitching. The reliability and validity for the design methods of the proposed servo controller are investigated through the practical experiment for the simulator by using 16bits micro-computer with A/D and D/A converters. It can be observered from the experimental results that the proposed servo controller is applicable to practical plants since the simulator is robust for the arbitrary disturbance and it follows to the given reference input without significant steady state error.

SoC which deploys software modules as well as hardware IPs on a single chip is a major revolution taking place in the implementation of a system design, and high-level synthesis is an important process of SoC design methodology. Recently, SPARK parallelizing high-level synthesis software tool has been developed. It takes a behavioral ANSI-C code as an input, schedules it using code motion and various code transformations, and then finally generates synthesizable RTL VHDL code. Although SPARK employs various loop transformation algorithms, the synthesis results generated by SPARK are not acceptable for basic signal and image processing algorithms with nested loop. In this paper we propose a SoC platform with an application-specific PLD targeting local operations which are feature of many loop algorithms used in signal and image processing, and demonstrate design process which maps behavioral specification with nested loops written in a high-level language (ANSI-C) onto 2D systolic array. Finally the derived systolic array is implemented on the proposed application-specific PLD of SoC platform.
