  • Survival of thermotolerant Lactobacillus reuteri KUB-AC5 in $20\%$ (w/v) skim milk was found to be $11.3\%$ after spray drying by using a pilot scale spray dryer with inlet temperature at $170^{\circ}C$ and outlet temperature at $85^{\circ}C$. The ability of dried cell to produce antimicrobial activity was not affected by the spray drying. The model system for predicting viability of spray-dried L. reuteri KUB-AC5 during long-term storage was established, based on the Arrhenius equation, and verified by experimental data, because the viability of cells during storage can be correlated with storage temperature. The viability during storage at $30^{\circ}C$ declined more rapidly than that storage at $4^{\circ}C$.

  • Storage stability of freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria is a critical factor for their cost-effectiveness. Long-term storage of lactic acid bacteria enables microbial industry to reduce distribution costs. Herein, we investigated the effect of cold adaptation under supercooling conditions at -5℃ on the viability of Leuconostoc mesenteroides WiKim32 during the freeze-drying process and subsequent storage. Cold adaptation increased the thickness of exopolysaccharides (EPS) and improved the viability of freeze-dried Leu. mesenteroides WiKim32. Compared to non-adapted cells, cold-adapted cells showed a 35.4% increase in EPS thickness under supercooling conditions. The viability of EPS-hydrolyzed cells was lower than that of untreated cells, implying that EPS plays a role in protection during the freeze-drying process. Cold adaptation increased the storage stability of freeze-dried Leu. mesenteroides WiKim32. Fifty-six days after storage, the highest viability (71.3%) was achieved with cold adaptation at -5℃. When EPS-containing broth was added prior to the freeze-drying process, the viability further increased to 82.7%. These results imply that cold adaptation by supercooling pretreatment would be a good strategy for the long-term storage of Leu. mesenteroides WiKim32.

  • The Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) operates an on-site spent fuel dry storage facility using concrete silo and vertical module systems. This facility must be safely maintained until the spent nuclear fuel (SNF) is transferred to an external interim or final disposal facility, aligning with national policies on spent nuclear fuel management. The concrete silo system, operational since 1992, requires an aging management review for its long-term operation and potential license renewal. This involves comparing aging management programs of different dry storage systems against the U.S. NRC's guidelines for license renewal of spent nuclear fuel dry storage facilities and the U.S. DOE's program for long-term storage. Based on this comparison, a specific aging management program for the silo system was developed. Furthermore, the facility's current practices-periodic checks of surface dose rate, contamination, weld integrity, leakage, surface and groundwater, cumulative dose, and concrete structure-were evaluated for their suitability in managing the silo system's aging. Based on this review, several improvements were proposed.

  • Social Network Service (SNS) has gained great popularity. Recently, facebook has been used most active. Most of government ministries of Republic of Korea operates facebook. In the case of facebook, it takes advantages of possibilities to inform the direction of policy to aggregate opinions of people for issues. Information gained from facebook has a very important value to be reflected in the policy or to understand public opinions. Long-term storage for this information should be considered. In the case of overseas, tools for long-term storage of documentary facebook have recently been developed. However, it does not save all the data in facebook and ignores the principles for long-term storage. These tools are limited to a simple backup. Therefore, this study aims to investigate how to reproduce, store and collect facebook page records of the government ministries.

  • The need for extended storage of used nuclear fuel is increasing globally as disposition schedules for used fuel are pushed further into the future. This is creating a situation where dry storage of used fuel may need to be extended beyond normal regulatory licensing periods. While it is generally accepted that used fuel in dry storage will remain in a safe condition, there is little data that demonstrate used fuel performance in dry storage environments for long periods of time. This is especially true for high burnup used fuel. This paper discusses a technical approach that defines a process that develops the technical basis for demonstrating the safety of used fuel over extended periods of time.

  • The quality of cut tobacco will be deteriorated due to weather conditions such as temperature and relative humidity, when shipping and long term storaging. The change of equilibrium moisture contents in cut tobacco were under influence of relative humidity and temperature but not humectants. Therefore internal packing materials are necessary for cut tobacco to maintain initial quality, including taste, flavour and musty smell during shipping or storaging. When packing cut tobacco for shipping or long term storaging, desiralbe packing density was 200/$m^2$, For the long term storage under R.H 90% and 3$0^{\circ}C$, polyethylene film thickness suitable for packing material are above 100$\mu$, which resulted in 42days of shelf life.

  • Mycelial viability and cultivation characteristics of strains of Hypsizygus marmoreus after long-term storage were investigated. The experimental conditions were the storage at $4^{\circ}C$ using a slant culture technique with or without mineral oil, and in liquid nitrogen tank in the presence of 10% glycerol or 10% glycerol with 5% trehalose. The myceila of four strains of H. marmoreus were thawed at 9, 21, 33, and 45 months after beginning of the storage, and then the growth of the mycelia was measured on a PDA plate with serial transfers to new plate for the recovery. The mycelial growth data after 45 months showed that the mycelia were mostly viable but not fully active particularly when they were stored in liquid nitrogen with 10% glycerol. The growth activity could be fully recovered after second transfer to new PDA plate. Cultivation of mushroom fruiting body using the recovered mycelia also demonstrated that the storage methods employed in this work were applicable for the long-term storage of H. marmoreus.

  • In the recent, due to explosion of Digital Universe, the performance of computer and storage system is reducing. Therefore, the upgrade and capacity expansion needs is growing. Countermeasure for this problem is required fundamental and long-term solutions rather than piecemeal expansion. In this paper, we establish a data management policy for an enterprise through the operational status of storage system and the analysis of data value of it, and implement ILM-based tiered storage system on the basis of these. The results of this study shows the overall throughput was improved about 21% compared to the existing system, it is very effective to maintain continuous quality and reduce operating costs in the long term aspect.
