A novel silicon-containing epoxy resin, the diglycidylether of bisphenol A-silicon (DGEBA-Si), was synthesized and characterized. The properties of the DGEBA-Si epoxy resin cured with 4,4-diaminodiphenyl methane (DDM), including its cure behavior, glass transition temperature, thermal stability, and mechanical strength were investigated. The char yield of the DGEBA-Si/DDM system was higher than that of a commercial DGEBA/DDM system, indicating that the DGEBA-Si epoxy resin showed good flame-retardance. The cured DGEBA-Si/DDM specimens possessed lower glass transition temperatures and higher mechanical properties than DGEBA/DDM specimens. These features were attributed to the introduction of siloxane groups into the main chain of the epoxy resin, which resulted in the improved flexibility of the cured DGEBA-Si/DDM system.

High-resolution solution conformation of a novel conotoxin, [Pro 7,13] $\alpha$A-conotoxin $P_{IVA}$, GCCGSYPNAACHPCSCKDROSYCGQ-N $H_2$, has been determined by two-dimensional $^1$H nmr methods in combination with distance geometry calculation to rmsd values of 0.90 $\AA$ and 1.16 $\AA$ for the backbone and heavy atoms, respectively. Total of 324 NOE-derived interproton distance restraints including 33 long-range NOE restraints a well as 11 $\Phi$ and 7 $\chi$$^1$ torsion angle restraints were used for computation of structures. The epoch-making event of history called "JE JU 4.3" took place in JE JU beautiful island on liberation political situation in 1948. The cruelties of this event were reported awful life loss over 30,000, cruel slaughter by government, scorched villages in mountain area, silence exaction and disadvantage of implication for long time over 40 years. But, the real features are in still a fog.. Recently, the searching movement has arised owing to democracy atmosphere and literature works with "JE JU4.3" materials were published from 1988 and the government announced official apologies in 2003. The novel "The Sun-set on Halla Mt", one of those works, is accessible to real history due to its time/space back ground and the real name of persons who were related with this event. It is important for readers to consider the difference between real history and fiction story. Because a historical novel should be evaluated by writer's theme rather than history character.

Over the past few decades, our understanding of the epidemiology and immunopathogenesis of Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) has made enormous advances. Consequently, the treatment of HL has changed significantly, rendering this disease of the most curable human cancers. To date, about 80% of patients achieve long-term disease-free survival. However, therapeutic challenges still remain, particularly regarding the salvage strategies for relapsed and refractory disease, which need further identification of better prognostic markers and novel therapeutic schemes. Although the precise molecular mechanism by which Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) contributes to the generation of malignant cells present in HL still remains unknown, current increasing data on the role of EBV in the pathobiology of HL have encouraged people to start developing novel and specific therapeutic strategies for EBV-associated HL. This review will provide an overview of therapeutic approaches for acute EBV infection and the classical form of HL (cHL), especially focusing on EBV-associated HL cases.

Obesity is a chronic disorder that is a significant risk factor for diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, malignancy, and other chronic diseases. Lifestyle modifications form the basis of most treatments for obesity, but it has become clear that such modifications alone are not enough for many obese patients. When a behavioral approach is insufficient, pharmacological treatment may be recommended. In recent years, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has withdrawn several therapeutic options for obesity due to their side effects, but has approved four novel anti-obesity agents. Until recently, orlistat was the only drug approved for the management of long-term obesity, but the US FDA approved the novel anti-obesity drugs lorcaserin and phentermine/topiramate in 2012, and naltrexone/bupropion and liraglutide in 2014. The present review discusses the different pharmacotherapeutic options for the treatment of obesity.

X-linked Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1 (CMTX1) is caused by the mutation in GJB1 gene, characterized by the transient central nervous system involvement and long standing peripheral polyneuropathy which does not fulfill the criteria of demyelination or axonopathy. We describe a 37-year-old man with progressive bilateral leg weakness since his early teen. He suffered transient right hemiparesis, followed by quadriparesis at 14 years of age. When we examined him at 37 years of age, he presented a distal muscle weakness on lower extremities with a sensory symptom. The nerve conduction study demonstrated a motor conduction velocity between 26 and 49 m/s. The whole exome sequencing revealed a novel variant c.136 G>A in GJB1. This report will raise awareness in this rare disease, which is frequently misdiagnosed early in its course.

Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is the most common peroxisomal disorder caused by mutations in the gene, ABCD1, causing abnormal accumulation of very-long-chain fatty acids in the nervous system and adrenal glands. There are various clinical manifestations of ALD. Here we report a 47-year-old male with adrenomyeloneuropathy with cerebral involvement who exhibited progressive gait disturbance and cognitive impairment. A novel frameshift variant (c.95del [p.Val32Alafs^*36]) in exon 1 of ABCD1 was identified. This report provides additional information regarding the various clinical characteristics of ALD.

Gabriel García Márquez's short story "The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World" ["El ahogado más hermoso del mundo," 1968] and the novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold [Crónica de una muerte anunciada, 1981] and Merlinda Bobis's novel Fish-Hair Woman (2012) and short story "O Beautiful Co-Spirit" (2021) feature unusual scenarios of death: the arrival of a drowned man's corpse at an island; the inaction of the community to stop the foretold death of a supposedly-innocent man; a woman with long hair that can fetch dead bodies at the bottom of the village river; and a Filipino Catholic and a Malaysian Muslim working together to prepare an Italian Catholic's corpse for a funeral. These narratives demand critical attention as all deaths make the community's existence meaningful as they alter its social reality. Looking into the works of the aforementioned Colombian writer and Filipino writer and unveiling how death affects the community, this paper relies on Jean-Luc Nancy's theory on death and inoperative community.

A GNSS receiver must perform signal acquisition to estimate the code phase and Doppler frequency of the incoming satellite signals, which are essential information for baseband signal processing. Modernized GNSS signals have different modulation schemes and long PRN code lengths from legacy signals, which makes it difficult to acquire the signals and increases the computational complexity and time. This paper proposes a novel FFT/Inverse-FFT with baseband resampling to resolve the aforementioned challenges. The suggested algorithm uses a single block only for the FFT and thereby requires less hardware resources than conventional structures such as Double Block Zero Padding (DBZP). Experimental results based on a MATLAB simulation show this algorithm can successfully acquire GPS L1C/A, GPS L2C, Galileo E1OS, and GPS L5.

This study studied the seasons in the novel Snowy Read and the archetypal characteristics in natural phenomena. Summer and winter are the main seasons of Snowy Road. The cycle of the day is the time of dawn and early morning, evening, or night. It is summer now, and memory day is winter. In Snowy Road, 'I' is in sharp conflict with my mom during the summer season. This conflict is resolved and resurfaced with the feeling of 'love' as the story of the day is told in the mother's memory. It was a long time of conflict and trials for winter in the memory of me and my mother. As a result of examining the circular symbols in the Snowy Road, each symbol represents the 'I' and 'the mother's feelings'. 'I' and 'Mom's Emotions' collide, but they confirm each other's sincerity and rebuild their feelings of conflict with 'love'. In Snowy Road, the mother and son's 'love' shows that the mother's son is deeply in love, but the son's mother's love is also very deep.
