  • In this study to identify a causal relationship between daily stress, ego-resilience and the quality of life of the elderly in long-term care facility, a causal relationship model was set up and path analysis was performed. The data collected from 380 elderly users in private long-term care facilities in Greater Seoul Metropolitan area were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 to analyze the correlation between daily stress, ego-resilience, and the quality of life of the elderly. The results of this study are as follows; First, daily stress of the elderly showed a negative (-) direct effect on the quality of life. Second, the ego-resilience of the elderly had a positive (+) direct effect on the quality of life. Third, daily stress of the elderly showed a positive (+) direct effect on ego-resilience. Fourth, daily stress of the elderly showed indirect effect and partial mediating effect on the quality of life through ego-resilience. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of life of the elderly, it is necessary to develop programs and institutional support to reduce daily stress and increase ego-resilience.

  • The aim of the study was to explore the mediating effect of meaning in life on the relationship between meaning making about process of achieving long term goals and happiness. 180 college students completed the open questionnaire about personal long life goal, also rated the scales of meaning making, meaning in life and subjective well-being. The correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and sobel test were examined. The results as followed. First, meaning making, meaning in life and happiness were positive correlated. Second, the relationship between meaning making about process achieving long term goals and happiness was completely mediated by meaning in life. The finding suggested that meaning making and meaning in life can help to enhance happiness in college students. Also the results supported that meaning in life was important factor that affects subjective well-being in Koran college students. Finally, the limitations were suggested for future research.

  • Most important of all was the concept of library life-long education on which the studies were to be based. This concept has been broad, both in its interpretation of what constitutes a "program" and of what life-long education in a library is. No formal definition was adopted, but a common understanding existed that a fundamental purpose of the public library is to provide the means of continuing education, and to encourage the most effective utilization of these means through a program of activities whose effects are continuous and cumulatives. There are educational program, socio-cultural program and recreational program in the life-long education program of the public library. These programs can be planned by which the public library developed its resources and its services. services.

  • To propose the evaluation criteria of substantial sustainable low-carbon long-life housing, this study subdivided an existing planning item composed of the simple enumeration type by coding system of high/middle/low classification according to the core technology, and it was subdivided by a total 203 piece item. In other words, it subdivided 4 divisions by apartment unit, building, park and equipment, and classified elemental technology and system were divided by passive/active elemental technology and system according to the design process of long-life housing. Besides that, this paper presents the restructure results of checklist with quantitative criteria that classified by the weighting factor and compatibility between law system and current planning criteria in domestic long-life housing.

  • It was confirmed that the life predictive equation by LMP and LMP-ISM are effective only up to 10$^2$hours and can not be used for long times of $10^3~10^5$ hours, but that by ISM can be used for long times creep life prediction with more reliability. The predictive creep life equation of ISM has better reliability than those by LMP and LMP-ISM, and its realizably is getting better for long time creep prediction($10^3~10^5$ h).

  • Ginsenosides in ginseng are known for their potential health benefits, including antioxidant properties and their potential to exhibit anticancer effects. Besides a various range of coding genes, ginsenosides impose their efficacy by targeting noncoding RNAs. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) has gained significant attention from both basic and clinical oncology fields due to its involvement in various cancer cell activities such as proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis, and autophagy. These events can be achieved either by lncRNA alone or in association with microRNAs or proteins. This review aims to summarize the diverse activities of lncRNAs that are regulated by ginsenosides, focusing on their role in regulating target genes through signaling pathways in human diseases. We highlight the results of studies on the expression profiles of lncRNAs induced by ginsenosides in efforts to inhibit cancer cell proliferation. Finally, we discuss the potential and challenges of utilizing lncRNAs as diagnostic markers for disease treatment.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of and factors associated with long-term care (LTC) utilization under public long-term care insurance (LTCI) among end-of-life older adults in Korea. Methods: Using a 5% sample of older people aged 65 or older and their health and LTC insurance data, two-part model analyses were conducted. We compared LTC uses and their determinants during the last year of life among decedents in the year 2010 with those of survivors. We also compared the medical uses of the same sample with their LTC uses. Results: The end-of-life elderly were more likely to use LTC, and their expenditure on LTC was higher than their counterparts. Whether or not older people used LTC during their last year of life was significantly affected by age, sex, health insurance, household income, and living alone; however, LTC costs of the decedents were only affected by functional status, which may have been due to the reimbursement scheme of the current LTCI, which is mainly based on functional dependency level. For the survivors, having chronic diseases significantly increased the likelihood of LTC use, which was not the case for the decedents. End-of-life elderly with relatively low social economic status were more likely to use the LTC other than medical services, while the health conditions affected their medical uses most significantly. Conclusion: The study findings provide key information for predicting demand related to the increasing LTC needs of Korean older people at the end of life.

  • Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to assess a body of research evidence that articulates the impact of environment-related factors on behavioral health and quality of life for people with dementia who reside in long-term care facilities. The study also aims at identifying design implications that can be incorporated into design process and design decisions to improve behavioral health and quality of life for people with dementia. Methods: Comprehensive literature review has been conducted to identify empirical studies and that link the design of dementia care facilities to health- and QOL-related outcomes and scrutinized peer-reviewed articles published in many different fields including architecture, psychology, to nursing. Results: The review identified a growing body of literature that articulates environment-related factors that improve health and quality of life for people with dementia living long-term care facilities Implications: The findings of the review can be translated to design decisions to promote psychological and behavioral health and quality of life of people with dementia in long-term care facilities.

  • Purpose: Loneliness may be a typical psychological consideration in chronically ill patients, linking with low life satisfaction. We aimed to determine if loneliness would be independently associated with life satisfaction in pneumoconiosis patients hospitalized in long-term care facilities. Methods: We recruited 164 patients from 3 pneumoconiosis-specialized hospitals in M and S cities, South Korea, and measured loneliness and life satisfaction by using the University of California Los Angeles loneliness and life satisfaction index-Z scales. The Multiple regression analysis was performed to examine an independent association between loneliness and life satisfaction after adjustment for age, the levels of dyspnea and bronchitis-emphysema symptom, length of institutionalization, marital status, previous coal work experience, perceived socioeconomic status, and presence of caregivers. Results: The mean of loneliness was 46.4. We found a significant association between loneliness and life satisfaction (standardized beta=-0.16, p=0.049), independent of all the covariates. Conclusions: Loneliness was an independent associate of life satisfaction in patients with pneumoconiosis who were institutionalized in long-term care facilities. Thus, a nursing intervention strategy for relieving loneliness is needed to increase life satisfaction in these patients.
