한국인(韓國人) 청년남여(靑年男女)의 최대산소섭취량(最大酸素攝取量)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) - 제(第) II 편(篇) 남여운동선수(男女運動選手)의 최대산소섭취량(最大酸素攝取量)에 관(關)하여 - (Studies on the Maximal Oxygen Intake of the Korean - Part II. The Maximal Oxygen Intake of Korean Athletes -)

  • The maximal oxygen intake (MOI) was determined in 54 males (23 nonathletes, 10 basketball players, 8 hand ball players, 7 weight lifters and 6 long distance runners) and in 49 females (24 non-athletes, 16 basketball players and 9 volley ball players) by using a treadmill method outlined in Part I of the present investigation and the following results were obtained: (1) The maximal aerobic work capacity varied from the lowest value of 1,008 kg-m/min in female non-athletes to the highest value of approximately 2,000 kg-m/min in male basketball players and long distance runners. Values of other groups varied from 1,400 kg-m/min in male non-athletes and female athletes to 1,800 kg-m/min in male hand ball players. (2) The MOI per unit body weight varied from the lowest value of 41.3 ml/min/kg in female non-athletes to the highest value of 67.6 ml/min/kg in male long distance runners. Values of other groups were in the order of 47 to 55 ml/min/kg. (3) The heart rate during maximal aerobic work performance varied from the lowest value of approximately 180 per min in female basketball players and male long distance runners to the highest value of 190 or above in nonathletes of both sexes. (4) An estimate of oxygen debt as measured during 15 minutes following the maximal work was 3.841 in female non-athletes, 4.681 in female athletes, 5.561 in male non-athletes and 6.321 in male athletes. These results indicate that the MOI per unit body weight as well as the oxygen debt of Korean non-athletes were comparable to, while corresponding values of Korean athletes were considerably lower than, those of other countries such as Japan, the United States of America and Europe.

보중익기탕(補中益氣湯) 투여가 장거리 달리기 선수의 에너지 및 전해질 대사에 미치는 영향 (The effects of Bo-joong-ik-gi-tang administration on Metabolic Responses ; changes in the energy and electrolyte metabolism among long distance runners)

  • 스포츠 과학 분야에서는 운동 선수들의 경기력 향상과 운동 피로의 신속한 회복을 도모하기 위하여 한약을 복용하고 그 효과와 유의성에 대하여 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 격심한 운동을 수행할 때 나타나는 Glucose 등 에너지원의 고갈, Lactate 등 대사 산물의 축적, 전해질의 불균형 등의 여러 제반 증상이 기허(氣虛)로 인하여 나타나는 전신의 증후와 유사하다고 생각하여 보중익기탕(補中益氣湯)을 투여한 후 인체의 대사 변화를 관찰함으로서 운동수행능력에 미치는 영향과 유의성을 평가하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 장거리 달리기 선수를 대상으로 2주간의 보중익기탕(補中益氣湯)의 투여가 에너지 대사 및 전해질 대사에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 최대심박수의 70% 강도의 운동을 실시한 후 운동전 안정시, 운동 직후, 휴식 후 10분, 휴식 후 30분, 휴식 후 1시간으로 나누어 혈액검사를 하였을 때 나타나는 각종 변인의 반응 양상을 비교 분석하여 유의한 결과를 얻었다. 혈중 에너지 대사에서는 Free fatty acid와 Lactate 반응에서 유의성 있는 차이가 나타났고, 전해질 대사에서도 Na+, Cl-와 K+반응에서 모두 유의성 있는 차이를 나타냈다. 그러므로 보중익기탕(補中益氣湯)은 에너지 및 전해질 대사에서 유의성있는 변화를 나타내었으며 운동수행능력의 향상에 유효하였다.

  • 이 실험의 목적은 탄수화물 부하식이요법시의 삼출건비방 투여가 달리기 선수의 뇨중 대사성분변화에 미치는 영향에 대해 관찰 연구한 것이다. 탄수화물 부하식이시 삼출건비탕(蔘朮健脾湯) 투여는 전해질대사 관련 변인에 있어서 $Na^+$, $Cl^-$, $K^+$, $Ca^{+ +}$에 유의성 있는 영향을 미쳤으며, 이는 세포막 투과성의 변화를 의미하는 것으로 $Na^+$-$K^+$ pump의 활성도가 증가하여 운동수행능력을 향상시킬 것으로 기대되나 추후 전해질 대사와 관련하여 renin, aldosterone 등의 호르몬 분비 기전에 관해서도 지속적인 연구가 진행되어야 할 것으로 사려된다.

건각탕(健脚湯) 섭취가 엘리트 장거리 달리기 선수의 유산소성 능력 향상에 미치는 영향 (Development of Herbal Drink to Improve Aerobic Capacity in Elite Endurance Runners)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of oriental herbal drink to improve aerobic capacity in elite endurance runners. 14 male elite college runners were participated and divided into two group; i ) oriental herbal drink group (OG), ii ) placebo group (PG). All subjects were completed treadmill exercise protocol using GXT at before (B) and after (A) experimental treatment of one week. The V02max, anaerobic threshold (AT) were measured by gas analysis and heart rate (HR) were measure by polar system at pre, max, post, post 30 min and post 60 min. Blood samples were collected to analyze blood components. The V02max were significantly increased in OGA compared to OGB whereas the V02max and AT in OGA were significantly higher than PGA. The blood lactate concentration were shown higher decrease rate in OGA compared to Doth OGB and PGA during recovery whereas LDH and Na were significantly increased in OGA compared to both OGB and PGA. The blood concentrations of CI and K were significantly increased in OGA compared to PGA. There were no significant differences were founded in WBC, RBC, Hct, Hb and other components associated with energy sources(glucose, TG, TC, HDL, LDL, creatinine, CPK). These results suggested that this oriental herbal drink can be administrated to improve aerobic capacity in long distance runners.

Comparison of Interleukin-8 Levels in Long-Distance Runners and Healthy Sedentary Non-Athletic Control Subjects

  • We have previously demonstrated that the level of leukocytes and neutrophils significantly increased immediately and 30 min after exercise. Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is an inflammatory cytokine that acts as a chemokine on neutrophils. In the present study, we evaluated the correlation between the number of neutrophils and leukocytes, and between the number of neutrophils and plasma IL-8 level. Long-distance trained runners (TRs, n = 10) and untrained sedentary control subjects (SEDs, n = 10) ran for one hour at 70% of heart rate reserve. In the TR, the number of neutrophils correlated significantly with the number of leukocytes in the blood. However, there was no correlation between the number of neutrophils and the plasma IL-8 concentration in both groups. Expressions of IL-8 protein and mRNA were markedly higher in the TRs as compared to the SEDs at three time intervals (pre-exercise, immediately after exercise, and post exercise). In conclusion, our results show that 1) the neutrophil level was dependent on the level of leukocytes 2) there was no correlation between the neutrophils count and plasma IL-8 concentration and 3) a higher plasma IL-8 level in athletes may be a unique characteristic of intensive training.

Sweating by Exercise Controls Body Temperature through Increase of Interleukin-1beta

  • This study was designed to investigate the expression and production of interleukin-1beta $(IL-1{\beta})$ in human peripheral blood of trained runners and untrained controls after temporary moderate intensity exercise. Male long-distance trained runners (TR) and untrained sedentary control subjects (SED) ran for 1 h at 70% of heart rate reserve (HRR). $IL-1{\beta}$ gene and protein expressions were significantly higher in TR than those with SED at all 3 intervals examined independently. Significant increases in total sweat volume and oral temperature were observed after exercise in both groups, however, there were some differences between the groups. We conclude, therefore, that sweating due to exercise is associated with increase of $IL-1{\beta}$ and it is correlated with decrease of oral temperature.

장거리 (마라톤)선수에서의 전 경기중 심박동수의 변화 (Changes of Heart Rate During Marathon Running)

  • To evaluate the present status of physical fittness of Korean long distance runners, body fat, pulmonary functions, maximal oxygen intake and oxygen debt were measured in 5 elite marathoners (A group), 6 college student runners (B group) and 3 middle school student runners (C group). After laboratory tests, full course marathon running was performed in 2 elite marathoners during which their heart rates were monitored continuously. The results are summerized as follows: 1) Total body fat in all three groups are in the range of 13-15% of their body weight. 2) In all three groups, average values of various pulmonary functions were within the normal limits, but those of tidal volume were higher and respiratory rate were lower in comparison to normal values. These phenomena may represent respiratory adaptations against training. The average resting oxygen consumptions in A,B and C were $322{\pm}23$, $278{\pm}14$ and $287{\pm}16$m1/min, respectively. 3) In all three groups, resting blood pressures were in the normal range, but the resting heart rate was slightly lower in groups A $(56{\pm}3\;beats/min)$ and B $(64{\pm}2\;beats/min)$ and higher in group C $(82{\pm}9\;beats/min)$ in comparison to normal values. These changes in cardiovascular functions in marathoners may also represent adaptive phenomena. 4) During treadmill running the minute ventilation and oxygen consumption of the runners increased lineally with work load in all three groups. When the oxygen consumption was related to heart rate, it appeared to be a exponential function of the heart rate in all three groups. 5) The average maximal heart rates during maximal work were $196{\pm}3$, $191{\pm}3$ and $196{\pm}5\;beats/min$ for groups A,B and C, respectively. Maximal oxygen intakes were $84.2{\pm}3.3\;ml/min/kg$ in group A, $65.2{\pm}1.1\;ml/min/kg$ in group B and $58.7{\pm}0.4\;ml/min/kg$ in group C. 6) In all three groups, oxygen debts and the rates of recovery of heart rate after treadmill running were lower than those of long ditsance runners reported previously. 7) The 40 km running time in 2 elite marathoners was recorded to be $2^{\circ}42'25'$, and their mean speed was 243 m/min (ranged 218 to 274 m/min). The heart rate appeared to increase lineally with running speed, and the total energy expenditure during 40 km running was approximately 1360.2 Calories. From these it can be speculated that if their heart rates were maintained at 166 beats/min during the full course of marathon running, their records would be arround $2^{\circ}15'$. Based on these results, we may suspect that a successful long distance running is, in part, dependent on the economical utilization of one's aerobic capacity.

오미자를 이용한 스포츠 드링크 섭취가 혈액성분과 운동수행력 및 HSP70에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Sports Drink Containing Schizandra Chinensis on Blood Biochemical Elements, Exercise Performance and HSP70)

  • OBJECTIVES : Schizandra chinensis is well known for its efficacy at liver function reinforcement, relieving thirst and recovery from fatigue. In this study, we examined the effects of sports drink containing Schizandra chinensis on serum metabolic substrate, electrolyte, stress indicators, related-enzyme and exercise performance, rectal temperature, and heat shock proteinb70 (HSP70). METHODS : Elite long-distance runners (male, 21.3yrs, n=16) were selected and divided into two groups; an experimental group (EXP, n=8) and a control group (CON, n=8). A beverage containing Schizandra chinensis was supplemented 3 times per day to EXP for 4 weeks. Serum biochemical elements (glucose, lactate, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, glutamate pyruvate transaminase, creatinine, creatine phosphokinase, lactate dehydrogenase, blood urea nitrogen, Na, K, Cl) were analyzed by auto blood analyzer. Exercise performance was measured by treadmill exercise test, HSP70 was detected by electrophoresis and Western blotting, and rectal temperature was measured by rectal temperature probe. RESULTS : Administration of the beverage increased significantly the rest level of blood Na, Cl and glucose and decreased significantly lactate dehydrogenase, glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase. No difference was found in exercise performance, rectal temperature increment or HSP70 concentration between groups. CONCLUSIONS : Administration of a sports drink containing Schizandra chinensis altered blood glucose, lactate dehydrogenase, glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, Na and Cl levels.

울트라마라톤이 뇌하수체 전엽 및 갑상선 호르몬에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ultramarathon on the Anterior Pituitary and Thyroid Hormones)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study changes in pituitary hormone in anterior lobe and thyroid hormone before, after, and during recovery time in severe 100 km ultramarathon. Methods: Healthy middle-aged runners (age, $52.0{\pm}4.8$ years) participated in the test. Grade exercise test is done, and then blood is taken from those participants before and after completing 100 km ultramarathon at the intervals of 24 hours (1 day), 72 hours (3 days), and 120 hours (5 days) to analyze their luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), and free thyroxine (Free T4). Results: For LH, it decreased more significantly at 100 km than pre-race. However, after 1 day result increased more than that of 100 km. At 3 days, it was significantly higher than pre-race and 100 km, recovering at 5 days. In terms of FSH, it decreased at 100 km, 1 day, and 3 days more than pre-race but recovered at 5 days. TSH was higher at 1 day and 5 days compared to pre-race. T3 was only higher at 100 km than pre-race. T4 was higher till 5 days at 100 km than pre-race. Free T4 increased more significantly at 100 km than pre-race. Conclusion: In terms of severe long distance running, LH and FSH which belong to hormone from anterior lobe as well as T3, T4, and Free T4 which belong to thyroid hormone showed their variation within the standard range. However, TSH showed abnormal increase from enhanced concentration of blood after marathon becoming hyper-activation even during the recovery period.

운동종목별(運動種目別) 선수(選手)의 심전도시간간격(心電圖時間間隔), 파고(波高) 및 벡터의 비교(比較) (Comparison of Electrocardiographic Time Intervals, Amplitudes and Vectors in 7 Different Athletic Groups)

  • 운동종목별(運動種目別) 선수(選手)들의 심기능(心機能)을 비교(比較)하기 위하며 운동경력(運動經歷)이 3년이상(年以上)이 된 고등학교(高等學校)의 투척(投擲)(7명), 도약(跳躍)(11명), 단거리(短距離)(8명), 장거리(長距離)(14명), 권투(拳鬪)(7명), 배구(排球)(8명) 및 야구(野球)(9명) 선수(選手)와 비선수(非選手)(19명)들의 안정시(安靜時)심전도상(心電圖上)에 나타난 시간간격(時間間隔), 파고(波高) 및 vector를 비교(比較) 분석(分析)하였다. 안정시(安靜時)의 R-R(간격)間隔은 각종목별(各種目別) 선수(選手)들은$0.96{\sim}1.09$ 초(秒)로 비선수군(非選手群)의 0.78초(秒)에 비(比)해 유의(有意)한 서맥(徐脈)을 보여주었다. R-R간격(間隔)은 P-R, Q-T 및 T-P간격(間隔)의 합(合)으르 나타나는데, P-R 및 Q-T간격(間隔)은 각(各 선수군(選手群)과 비선수군간(非選手群間)에 차이(差異)가 없었으나 T-P간격(間隔)은 도약(跳躍), 단거리(短距離), 장거리(長距離) 및 권투선수(拳鬪選手)들에서 비선수군(非選手群)보다 유의(有意)하게 높았다. R-R간격(間隔)은 T-P 및 Q-T간격(間隔)과 유의(有意)한 상관관계(相關關係)가 있었으나 P-R 및 QRS간격(間隔)과는 상관관계(相關關係)가 없었다. 심전도(心電圖)의 파고(波高)를 비교(比較)해 보면 lead $V_5$에서의 P파고(波高)$(Pv_5)$는 비선수군(非選手群)에 비(比)해서 각종목(各種目) 선수군(選手群)이 전반적(全般的)으로 낮은 경향(傾向)을 보여주었고, 특(特)히 투척(投擲) 및 도약선수군(跳躍選手群)은 유의(有意)하게 낮았다. T파고(波高)$(Tv_5)$는 투척선수군(投擲選手群)이 비선수군(非選手群)보다 유의(有意)하게 낮았으나 다른 선수군(選手群)들은 차이(差異)가 없었다. R파고(波高)$(Rv_5)$는 장거리선수군(長距離選手群)을 제외(除外)한 다른 종목선수(種目選手)들과 비선수(非選手)사이에 차이(差異)가 없었다. 장거리선수군(長距離選手群)의 $(Rv_5)$파고(波高)는 비선수(非選手)뿐만 아니라 다른 종목선수군(種目選手群)보다도 유의(有意)하게 높았다. Lead $V_1$에서의 S파고(波高)$(Sv_1)$는 선수군(選手群)과 비선수군(非選手群)사이에 차이(差異)가 없었다. $Rv_5$$Sv_1$파고(波高)의 합(合)은 장거리선수군(長距離選手群)만이 다른 종목선수군(種目選手群)들이나 비선수군(非選手群)보다 유의(有意)하게 높았으며 다른 선수군(選手群)들은 비선수군(非選手群)과 차이(差異)가 없었다. 심전도(心電圖)의 vector를 비교(比較)해 보면 P, QRS, T축(軸)의 각도(角度)는 frontal 및 horizontal plane 상(上)에서 각선수군(各選手群)과 비선수군(非選手群)사이에 차이(差異)가 없었다. P vector의 길이는 각선수군(各選手群)이 비선수(非選手)보다 낮은 경향(傾向) 나타냈으며, 특(特)히 horizontal plane에서 투척(投擲), 도약(跳躍), 단거리(短距離) 및 야구선수(野球選手)들이 비선수군(非選手群)보다 유의(有意)하게 낮았다. QRS와 T vector의 길이는 선수군(選手群)과 비선수군간(非選手群間)에 차이(差異)가 없었고, 야구선수(野球選手)만이 frontal plane에서 QRS vector의 길이가 비선수군(非選手群)보다 높았다. 이상(以上)의 결과(結果)를 종합(綜合)해 보면 각종목(各種目) 운동선수군(運動選手群) 전반(全般)은 비선수(非選手)보다 유의(有意)한 서맥(徐脈)을 나타내며 이는 주로 T-P 간격(間隔)이 길기 때문이다. 파고(波高)의 높이와 vector를 비교(比較)해 볼때 각종목(各種目) 운동선수(運動選手)는 전반적(全般的)으로 비선수군(非選手群)보다 P파(波)가 낮았다. 특(特)히 장거리선수군(長距離選手群)은 다른 종목(種目) 선수군(選手群)이나 비선수군(非選手群)보다 $Rv_5$$Sv_1$파고(波高)의 합(合)이 유의(有意)하게 높았으므로 좌심실(左心室)이 비대(肥大)해 있음을 알 수 있다. 이는 장거리선수(長距離選手)들이 다른 종목선수(種目選手)들에 비(比)해 더 우수(優秀)한 스포츠심장(心臟)임을 시사(示唆)해 주고 있다.
