  • The long-term stability of sulfonic acid-containing polyimides has been investigated. The hydrolytic degradation of homopolyimide and the block copolyimide comprising $27\;mol\%$ of 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzidine and $9\;mol\%$ of m-phenylenediamine (BTFMB27mPl0[7/(3+1)]), was quantified through viscosity measurements and FT-IR spectroscopic analyses. The viscosity decrease with respect to time and the degradation rate were similar. The degrees of degradation with respect to time under ambient conditions and at elevated temperature in water were monitored by FT-IR spectroscopy. A new absorption peak was observed at $1786\;cm^{-1},$ which we corresponds to the presence of anhydride end groups formed by hydrolytic scission of the imide rings.

  • At the end of 2013, there were 434 nuclear power reactors in operation worldwide, with a total capacity of 371.6 GW(e), approximately 80 % had been in service 20 years and more. Many Member States have given high priority to licensing their nuclear power plants to operate for terms longer than the time frame originally anticipated(e.g. 30 or 40 years). One of challenges for long term operation is cable ageing management. How can qualify the existing cable under harsh environment in nuclear power plant? The paper described the approaches on qualification, condition monitoring, and management of low voltage cables in nuclear power plant.

  • In this paper, using soil slope inclinometer observations of lateral flow is used as a traditional way, but there are some decisions. Inclinometers in the process of installing and monitoring is costly. Severe incline slope of the lateral flow is observed in the inefficient. As a solution for it using TDR sensors are used to. Metal conductors such as coaxial cable and general cable uses a measurement sensor can be installed on site at a lower cost and slope measurements are available for long-term monitoring. When TDR sensor is installed on the slopes, changes in the behavior of slopes causes the earth pressure. TDR sensors determine the change of earth pressure and tried to analyze the behavior of slopes.

  • How to extimate the angle of attack of a vertical V-type cambered otter board was described. A three-dimensional semi-analytic treatment of a towing cable system was applied to the field experiments of a midwater trawl obtained by the Scanmar system. Also the equilibrium condition of the horizontal component and vertical component of forces and moment around the otter board was used. When the warp length was 300m long and the towing speed was between 2.61 and 3.86 knots, the estimated angle of attack of the otter board was ranged between $24.7^{\circ}$ and $26.2^{\circ}$, though the maximum lift force was at the angle of attack $22^{\circ}$.

  • There exists a interface among the different kinds of materials in the solid insulating ones, which effects on the insulating capability heavily. The insulating construction has been developed for each usages and take themselves into several sorts. The conjunction between CV cables have the electrical weakness of solidity and solid interface, so they were focused at the long distance-line. To this background, it is very important to get the information on the interface influencing on the insulating capability of cable and to observe its procedure. In this paper, the interface was made artificially to research the effect owing to the toughness of interface, which results in the aging and treeing proceeding was observed. The polyethylen, as is generally using for the cable, was taken in this research.

  • The Extradosed PSC bridge is one of the best alternates which not only covers the longer span than PSC box girder and also performs the role of landmark facility with much cheaper cost than cable stayed bridge. Since the cable-stayed long span bridge is more flexible than general medium span bridges and railway bridges can be experienced resonance phenomenon by repeated equidistant axle loading of the train, it is inevitable to consider the dynamic behavior on impact, deflection and so on. In the present study, the dynamic behavior of an Extradosed PSC railway bridge subjected to moving train forces is analyzed. As well as trains which operate in conventional railway tines, KTX train is also considered. For the estimation of dynamic performances of the Extradosed PSC bridge, vertical deflection, accelerations of the slab, end rotation of the girder and impact on pylons and cables are discussed.

  • A long-wavelength ($1. 3\mum$) multimode fiber-optic transmission system has been developed and the field trial system has been installed over 17.3km distance in Daejeon Area by KETRI. The 45Mb/s and 90Mb/s system operate with BER $10^-9$over 17.3km distance, and they successfully operate on the route of 34. 6km length when the fiber cable is simply connected at one end. Average loss of the fiber cable shows 0. 81dB/km including splice loss and the average bandwidth over the 17. 3km distance is 170MHz.

  • To meet the demand increasing passengers in railway vehicles, railway transportation service companies are increasing the numbers of cars per train-set. Two solutions, Variable train-set formations and Multiple train-set operation, are common way to increase the transportation capability. These kind of long distance train-set can effect train-set command and control system, and sometimes the digital signals using train line from master cabin can not reach to the systems located the other extremity slave car. This is so called Voltage Drop. This phenomenon is originated from the electrical power consumption and electrical cable resistance, and cause to the equipments or cars located end of the electrical cable way, malfunction or abnormal operations. This voltage drop happens not only in train lines but also Battery Power Lines. The purpose of this investigation is to design high reliability railway vehicles by clarifying the possibility of happening these events case by case, by analyzing the reasons, and finally by finding the best solutions.

  • This paper reports an attempt to develop 7-wire steel tendon which is instrumented with optical FBG sensors. The tendon is devised to replace the king cable, which is located in the center of the tendon, by a steel tube in which the FBG sensor are attached along the hole using a high-mobility polyester resin. The circular steel tube has typical of 5 mm outer diameter and 1 mm inner diameter, and can easily be manufactured by means of an pultrusion process. Using the tube, in this study, three different types of one meter-long smart tendons are fabricated depending on mixture ratio of polyester resin and initiator. The performance of the FBG sensors as well as mechanical characteristics of the prototype are tested through the tensile test. Test results shows that the proposed smart tendon is in principle very effective for measuring the working strain of the tendon.

  • In the system of underground transmission line, the rate of electrical failure is very low, but, if once occuring, the failure evolves into a paralysis of the system, the time of restoration is very long, the damage from stopping of power supply is very serious, and the cost of restoration is very great. Because of these problems, you must try to protect the system and equipment from every electrical failure by contributing much carefulness to the design and operation of the underground system. This study summerizes the results of simmulation tests about the effect of installing this protection device on the insulated joint box and the terminal end box.
