우리나라 물류 산업 인력에 관한 소고 (A study on human resources of the logistics industry in Korea)

  • Korean logistics industry have been focused on transportation business. However, with the expansion of the electronic commerce and on-line shopping, delivery service is now dramatically growing. Despite the expansion of logistics market, the domestic logistics industry have significant structural problems such as low productivity comparing with the advanced countries, relatively high cost and shortage of human resources and lack of professionalism of people in the industry. Logistics companies reallocate employees, use subcontractors, expand consignment and training the employees to overcome the labor shortages but it has some limits. In recognition of the importance of labor in the logistics industry, financial support and investment have increased. Logistics companies tend to hire consultants, set up logistics department or R&D center in order to establish highly productive logistics process and system so it is viewed that there will be considerable demands of human resources in the logistics industry. This study indicates implications and development direction of human resources in the logistics industry by looking into prospect and characteristic of the industry, employment status, training programs and qualification requirements.

지역물류산업과 경제성장의 관계에 대한 패널분석 (Panel Analysis of Relationship Between Regional Logistics Industry and Economic Growth in Korea)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between the logistics industry and the economic growth in Korea, and to provide implications for the contribution of the logistics industry to economic growth. Unlike Previous Related Studies, we derive short-term and long-term effects through dynamic panel analysis such as panel Granger causality test and impulse response function estimation using panel vector error correction model. The results of the empirical analysis are as follows: Labor input of the logistics industry has the greatest positive impact on economic growth. And capital input and total sales of the logistics industry have a negative effect on economic growth. This means that Korea's logistics industry features labor-intensive growth. In addition, We have also found that the growth (sales) and capital input of the logistics industry have not yet had a direct positive impact on economic growth. Therefore, the results of this analysis provide implications for the direction of logistics industry policy to enhance contribution of the logistics industry to economic growth.

한국의 항만물류산업의 성장회계 분석 (Growth Accounting Analysis of Korean Port-Logistics Industry)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 한국의 항만물류산업의 성장회계분석을 통하여 경제성장의 기여요인을 분석하는 것이다. $1990{\sim}2003$년간 항만물류산업은 전 산업 평균에 비하여 총요소생산성과 노동의 기여도는 높고 자본스톡 기여도는 낮다. 외환위기 전후로 항만물류산업의 성장 패턴은 크게 변화하였다. 외환위기 이전, $1990{\sim}1998$년간 항만물류산업의 경제성장률은 14.1%로 전 산업 평균 경제성장률 7.7%보다 크게 높고 그 주된 기여요인도 자본스톡과 총요소생산성으로 나타나지만 이들의 기여도는 전 산업 평균에 미치지 못하였다. 외환위기 이후, $1998{\sim}2003$년간 항만물류산업의 경제성장률은 5.4%로 전 산업 평균(10.1%)에 크게 미치지 못하였고 경제성장에 대한 기여도는 자본스톡 13.1%, 노동 57.0%, 총요소생산성(성장률) 29.9%로 노동에 의존한 성장패턴이 총요소생산성의 성장률 저하와 함께 경제성장률을 격감시키는 결과를 초래하였다.

  • Logistics industry still heavily relies on human labor in many field processes. However, robot applications in logistics are rapidly increasing, encouraged by technological progresses in robotics and cheaper robot solutions from competition between robot suppliers. Effectiveness of logistics automation are higher productivity for cost reduction and increased process capabilities for better profit, which is witnessed in many fields of logistics industry. In this paper, differences in logistics services - contract logistics, parcel, and fulfillment - are addressed, and characteristics and issues in application of various kinds of logistics robots such as AGV, AMR, ASRS, box/piece handling robots and robotic wearable devices are discussed. The advantages from flexibility and scalability of logistics automation by robots will benefit the future logistics business.

물류산업의 "괜찮은 일자리(Decent Work)" 결정요인에 관한 연구 : 전체산업 모형과의 비교를 중심으로 (A Study on the Determinants of "Decent Work" in the Logistics Industry : Focusing on the comparison with whole industries)

  • 본 연구는 물류산업에서 괜찮은 일자리 결정요인을 규명하였고 분석 결과를 물류산업 노동 관련 정책 입안을 위한 기초자료로서의 활용과 물류산업 특성에 맞는 정책을 마련하는 데 목적이 있다. 모형의 종속변수는 첫 번째 연구에서 도출한 괜찮은 일자리(Decent Job) 여부를 활용하였고, 물류산업 일자리가 가지는 고유한 특성을 파악하기 위해 전체산업의 패널 자료로 대상 모형을 도출한 후 이를 물류산업 모형에 적용하였다. 그 결과 전체산업의 괜찮은 일자리 모형에서 유의미한 요인으로 분석되었던 '나이(age)', '성별(sex)', '교대근무(shift)' 변수는 물류산업 모형에서 유의미하지 않은 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 타 선행연구와 본 연구의 한국노동패널조사(KLIPS) 데이터를 활용한 일자리 모형에서 '나이(age)' 변수는 대부분 나이가 많을수록 직무만족도 및 소득 생산성이 높게 나타나 물류산업의 경우도 비슷한 결과가 나올 것으로 예상하였으나, 물류산업의 경우는 '나이(age)' 변수가 '괜찮은 일자리(Decent Work)' 취업을 결정하는 요인이 아닌 것으로 나타났다. 전체산업과 물류산업이 공통으로 괜찮은 일자리(Decent Work)에 종사하기 위해 가장 중요한 요인은 '건강상태(health)' 요인으로 나타났다. 선행연구와 마찬가지로 일반적인 직무만족도, 소득생산성, 승진 등을 위해서는 개인적 특성인 '건강상태(health)'가 괜찮은 일자리(Decent Work)에 종사하기 위해 중요하다는 것이 본 연구에서도 다시 한번 입증되었다. 따라서 물류산업은 전체산업에 비해 '직업훈련'을 통해 물류 산업의 전문성을 키우는 것이 정규 교육과정을 통해 '학력수준'을 높이는 것보다 중요한 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 특히 본연구에서 분석한 세부 물류산업 중 괜찮은 일자리 종사자 비율이 높은 '철도운송업', '내륙 수상 및 항만 내 운송업', '항공 화물 운송업' 등의 경우 전문화된 직업훈련이 필요한 분야로 이와 같은 물류산업의 특성이 반영된 것으로 보인다. 따라서 정규 교육과정을 통해서 배우는 학문적 영역과 더불어 직업훈련 등의 추가적인 인력양성 프로그램을 통해 직무의 전문성을 키우는 것이 물류산업뿐만 아니라 타 산업에서도 '괜찮은 일자리(Decent Work)'에 종사하는 데에 매우 중요한 요인인 것으로 나타났다.

A Study on the Forecasting of Employment Demand in Kenya Logistics Industry

  • This study focused on the alternative to estimate the demand of employment in Kenya logistics. First of all, it investigated the importance and necessity of search about the present circumstance of the country's industry. Next, it reviewed respectively the concept and limitation of several previous models for employment, including Bureau of Labor Statistics, USA; ROA, Netherlands; IER (Institute for Employment Research), UK; and IAB, Germany. In regard to the demand forecasting of employers in logistics, it could anticipate more realistically the future demand by the time-lag approach. According to the findings, if value of output record 733,080 KSH million in 2015 and 970,640 in 2020, compared to 655,222 in 2013, demand on wage employment in logistics industry would be reached up to 95,860 in 2015 and 104,329 in 2020, compared to about 89,600 in 2012. To conclude, this study showed the more rational numbers about the demand forecasting of employment than the previous researches and displayed the systematic approach to estimate industry manpower in logistics.

우리나라의 동북아 물류거점화전략과 관세자유지역제도의 발전방향 (A study on Korean Free Zone and it's growing strategy)

  • The objective of the study is to propose to the strategy to make korean main ports to international logistics center in Northeast Asia. so this study's construction is constructed four steps. First, analysis the environment of economy, business and logistics industry in Northeast Asia. Second, analysis the constructions and characters of Free Zone Act. Third, analysis of Korean Government's policy about Free Zone. Forth, propose the growing strategy of Free Zone. In 1999 Northeast Asia was adopted in Korea, which will facilitate the process and strengthen the international logistics capability as a international logistics hub in Northeast Asia. But only adoption in the point of law is not enough to growing korean main seaport and airport to a international logistics hub. so various strategies are needed. In this study, we propose the growing strategies that are to establish and manage the free zone of ports and its hinterland are: the establishment of a long-term vision of international logistics complexes, the improvement of the proximity to markets/customers by way of linkage of global networks, the activation of the industrial complex in hinterland, the development of the skilled labor and the labor climate, the cooperation between governmental bodies and government/provincial bodies, continuous development of logistics infrastructure and so on.

  • This study has been conducted under the background of the high rocketed international oil price in the mid of the 2008 year. Korean logistics industry then suffered from a harsh labor strike which paralyzed temporarily Korean exports and imports activities mainly due to the rising motor fuel prices. The theme of this study started from the highly practical question: what would be the impact of the soaring crude oil price on the cost structure of the Korean logistics industry? For this practical question this study conducted an input-output analysis utilizing the 2003 year benchmark input-output table, published by the Bank of Korea in 2007.

Promotional Plans of Fourth-Party Logistics in Korea: Applicability in Entering the Chinese Logistics Market

  • Purpose - This study aims to disclose the problems of both the government and the logistics industry regarding fourth-party logistics, and to provide various solutions at the level of enterprises as well as the government for the introduction of fourth-party logistics in China. Research design, data, and methodology - This study aims to reveal how a shipping company recognizes the creation of partnerships with fourth-party logistics providers, and it reveals several related implications. Results - Fourth-party logistics organizations can be used to achieve maximum business performance as professional logistics companies by incorporating the benefits of outsourcing and insourcing. Outsourcing logistics services through focusing on core competencies and improving customer service can have financial effects and advantages such as the simplification of labor issues. Conclusions - This study did not investigate Korean enterprises through an empirical analysis and provided fourth-party logistics concepts and promotional plans according to domestic and foreign literature. Further studies shall investigate not only the Korean fourth-party logistics model but also the training of logistics professionals to generate profits for both shippers as well as logistics enterprises.
