  • This paper introduces domestic and international trends and researches related with U-Greenhouse systems. USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Networks), along with the development of networks as well as science and technology, is a new computing paradigm which is the convergence of user-oriented physical activity space and virtual space of electronics and computing and also provides services according to change in surrounding environment at anytime and anywhere. The U-Greenhouse system is to apply USN to agricultural production, logistics and distribution management which are relatively insufficient to utilize IT technology. Thus, applying u-IT technology to agriculture can reinforces international competitiveness of the agricultural sector through the effects such as cost cutting as a rise in output, logistics and distribution management.

  • A survey to pallet users was conducted in an aspect of the efficiency and benefit. The questionnaire identified the preference about the main variables such as price, size, conformity, material, which are the criteria of the users' choice. staffs in the capital region was selected as respondents and Cluster Analysis and Simulations was carried out with Conjoint Analysis. The result shows that the variables of material and conformity between facilities and products were more important than the variable of size. The respondents prefer the pallets with a various range of products because warehouses should keep a range of products under various condition of temperature. In accordance, the companies that provide a pallet pool service should set up individual marketing strategy by a type of customers so as to maximize the competitiveness in domestic or international markets. Furthermore, supplying standardized pallets should be consistent with the standardization not for individual logistics units, but for whole logistic systems. To achieve this, it requires the compatibility amongst a range of logistics activity participants by their characteristics.

  • This research is to focus on the method of moving line optimization in Agricultural Industry, especially Garak Wholesale Market Modernization Project, by using simulation tool. As everybody knew, it's very difficult to apply the SCM operation rules in Agricultural Industry, because the standardization system in Agricultural Industry was not completed. The five flow management factors, vehicle moving line management, customer moving line Management, Logistics Device Moving Line Management, Working Person Moving Line Management, Product display moving line management, are needed to be optimized on the basis of standardization rules, and to achieve this will be the good infrastructure to make the Agricultural SCM system. It's very different between the SCM structure of manufacturing industry and logistics industry and the SCM structure of Agricultural Industry, because the SCM in manufacturing is occur in the basis of flow management, on the contrary, the SCM of Agricultural Industry is on the basis of activity management. For these reason, this study is the first approach to apply the simulation method in the part of moving line optimization in Agricultural SCM, and in near future, This study will help all designers and operators to apply the simulation work in the part of agricultural SCM, and we hope that next advanced study will continue by using this study.

  • As the development of Northeast Asian logistics hub becomes one of the national agenda for further development, the sea&Air transport around the Yellow Sea regions has drawn attention of many scholars and government officials. The Sea&air transport is a mode of transportation combining the advantage of high-speed in air transport with the advantage of low-price in sea transport. Hence the sea&air aims at a niche market between air and sea. This paper reviews the possibility of development of the sea&air transport in the aspects of competitiveness over other modes, future demand condition, and the change of the technology and transport environment. The result is that the sea&air is competitive in the aspect of time as well as cost, and sustainable in the aspect of future demand condition. But, it is not stable in the aspect of the conditions of technology or transport demand. Especially, the progress of air transport technology which is aiming at the door-to-door transport among mid- and small- cities, and the rapidly increasing strategic alliances of international airlines with Chinese airlines for the market of China will undermine the stability of the sea&air transport seriously As alternatives, this paper proposes the 3-stage development strategy of sea&air transport. First, at the stage of transshipement, the development of high speed vessels to reduce the time crossing the Yellow Sea and the proactive marketing strategy to induce Chinese-owned products should be emphasized. Second, the value added logistics activity which will secure the demand of the sea&air transport should be developed. Third, demand creation by developing the SCM hub in Incheon is final goal for the logistics hub strategy as well as the sea&air transport.

  • While various factors in passenger and freight demand analysis affect on destination choice, a key factor, in general. is an attractiveness measure by size variable (e.g., population. employment etc) in destination zone. In order to measure the attractiveness, some empirical studies suggested that disaggregate gravity model are more suitable than aggregate gravity model. This study proposes that truck travelers trip diary data among Korean commodity flow data could be used to estimate the behaviors of incorporating trip departure time, activity duration and attractiveness in destination. As a result, the main findings of size and distance variables coincide with the conventional gravity model having a positive effect of population variable and a negative effect of distance variable. Due to disaggregate gravity modeling, the unique findings of this study reports that small trucks are more likely to choose short distance and early morning, morning peak and afternoon peak departure time choice. On the other hand, large trucks are more likely to choose long distance and night time departure time choice.

  • With current economic advancements and increasing demand for well-being, diverse leisure cultures have developed. The geographic feature of being surrounded in 3 sides by water has resulted in the sustained growth of the marine leisure market. But the increased market and users has not resulted in the systematic management of sailing safety and equipment. Marine leisure activities occur on water, so the damage from collisions and distress calls are greater than land based leisure activities. And marine leisure equipment is very expensive, requiring systematic management. This research proposes an information system using a new IP-RFID technique to manage the safety of marine leisure users and equipment management.

  • The port of Busan is the fifth busiest container port in the world in terms of total mass of 20-foot equivalent units transported. Yet no attempts have been made to estimate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the port of Busan by accounting for all port-related activities of the various transportation modes. With these challenges in mind, this study estimates the first activity-based GHG emissions inventory in the port of Busan, which consists of four transportation modes: marine vessels, cargo-handling equipment, heavy-duty trucks, and railroad locomotives. The estimation results based on the most recent and complete port-related activity data are as follows. First, the average annual transportation GHG emission in the port of Busan during the analysis period from 2000 to 2007 was 802 Gg $CO_2$-eq, with a lower value of 773 Gg $CO_2$-eq and an upper value of 813 Gg $CO_2$-eq. Second, the increase in the transportation-related GHG emissions in the port of Busan during the analysis period can be systematically explained by the amount of cargo handled ($R^2$=0.98). Third, about 64% of total GHG emissions in the port of Busan were from marine vessels because more than 40% of all maritime containerized trade flows in the port were transshipment traffic. Fourth, approximately 22% of the total GHG emissions in the port of Busan were from on-road or railroad vehicles, which transport cargo to and from the port of Busan. Finally, the remaining 14% of total GHG emissions were from the cargo handling equipment, such as cranes, yard tractors, and reach stackers.

  • In order to improve the productivity and continuous competitiveness of container terminals, it is necessary to make efforts to reduce operational losses at each terminal. As a study on this, it is necessary to study the non-productivity movement based on the shuffle(re-handling) in the yard analysis is needed. In this study, non - productive activity factors were classified by prefecture, transporter, shippers and terminal based on operation data of domestic A terminal. As a result, 14.7% is due to the causes of shipping companies and shipping companies, and in addition, 85.3% of the respondents indicated that they were responsible for the terminal operation. In order to minimize the above factors, it is necessary to reduce the non-productive activity through rapid information processing and pre-information acquisition from shipping companies, and minimize the influence of bulge-out through installation of concrete blocks in the equipment field.
