In this paper, a Logarithmic Video Amplifier(LVA) for radar system or satellite communications is described. The proposed LVA is composed of a input stage, amplification stage, and output stage. As well as a novel series-parallel architecture is proposed for the purpose of wide dynamic range and high speed operation, a newly developed input stage is designed in order to control the voltage level between LVA and detector diode. The LVA is fabricated with a 1.5um 2-poly 2-metal n-well Bi-CMOS technology, and the chip area is 1310 um x 1540 um. From the experimental results, it consumes 190 mW at 10V power supply, the chip has 60 dB dynamic range and 100ns falling time.

This paper shows that the support growth of an optimum (minimum mean square-error) scalar quantizer for a Laplacian density is logarithmic with the number of quantization points. Specifically, it is shown that, for a unit-variance Laplacian density, the ratio of the support-determining threshold of an optimum quantizer to $\frac 3{\sqrt{2}}1n\frac N 2$ converges to 1, as the number of quantization points grows. Also derived is a limiting upper bound that says that the optimum support cannot exceed the logarithmic growth by more than a constant. These results confirm the logarithmic growth of the optimum support that has previously been derived heuristically.

The identification of damping ratios in buildings is a well-known problem and appears to be of important and crucial interest in the safety and serviceability design. When compared to an estimation of the stiffness, i.e. natural frequency, and mass, the damping ratio is the most difficult quantity to determine. Many previous studies have examined the characteristics of damping ratios from ambient vibration, but the measurement time is roughly within 2 hours. In this paper, characteristics of damping ratios and natural frequencies of 4 story RC building were investigated using long-term ambient vibration. Free vibrations were obtained using random decrement technique, and damping ratios were evaluated by the envelop function, continuous wavelet transform, and logarithmic decrement. It was found that although the natural frequencies show little variations with time, the damping ratios show some variations with time and the largest variations found in the damping ratios obtained from the continuous wavelet transform. The damping ratios from the envelop function showed the smallest mean and standard deviation. And the probability distribution of damping ratios seems to follow the logarithmic normal distribution.

In this paper, a high dynamic range IF logarithmic amplifier was designed and fabricated by the successive detection technique for radar systems. The fabricataed IF successive detection logarithmic amplifier(SDLA), a hybrid MIC type, achieves a logarithmic linearity of $\pm$1.4 dB and a dynamic range of 80 dB over 0.5 GHz to 1.5 GHz. The tangential signal sensitivity is -76 dBm, the NF is smaller than 5.5 dB, and the input VSWR is 2.0 : 1. This IF SDLA can be applied to radar systems by reducing the size and power consumption.
This study aims to investigate the extent to which Korean high school textbooks incorporate opportunities for students to engage in the mathematical modeling process through tasks related to exponential and logarithmic functions. The tasks in three textbooks were analyzed based on the actions required for each stage in the mathematical modeling process, which includes identifying essential variables, formulating models, performing operations, interpreting results, and validating the outcomes. The study identified 324 units across the three textbooks, and the reliability coefficient was 0.869, indicating a high level of agreement in the coding process. The analysis revealed that the distribution of tasks requiring engagement in each of the five stages was similar in all three textbooks, reflecting the 2015 revised curriculum and national curriculum system. Among the 324 analyzed tasks, the highest proportion of the units required performing operations found in the mathematical modeling process. The findings suggest a need to include high-quality tasks that allow students to experience the entire process of mathematical modeling and to acknowledge the limitations of textbooks in providing appropriate opportunities for mathematical modeling with a heavy emphasis on performing operations. These results provide implications for the development of mathematical modeling activities and the reconstruction of textbook tasks in school mathematics, emphasizing the need to enhance opportunities for students to engage in mathematical modeling tasks and for teachers to provide support for students in the tasks.

As a crucial development direction for the sixth generation of mobile communication networks (6G), Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite networks exhibit characteristics such as low latency, seamless coverage, and high bandwidth. However, the frequent changes in the topology of LEO satellite networks complicate communication between satellites, and satellite power resources are limited. To fully utilize resources on satellites, it is essential to determine the association between satellites before power allocation. To effectively address the satellite association problem in LEO satellite networks, this paper proposes a satellite association-based resource allocation algorithm. The algorithm comprehensively considers the throughput of the satellite network and the fairness associated with satellite correlation. It formulates an objective function with logarithmic utility by taking the logarithm and summing the satellite channel capacities. This aims to maximize the sum of logarithmic utility while promoting the selection of fewer associated satellites for forwarding satellites, thereby enhancing the fairness of satellite association. The problems of satellite association and power allocation are solved under constraints on resources and transmission rates, maximizing the logarithmic utility function. The paper employs an improved Kuhn-Munkres (KM) algorithm to solve the satellite association problem and determine the correlation between satellites. Based on the satellite association results, the paper uses the Lagrangian dual method to solve the power allocation problem. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm enhances the fairness of satellite association, optimizes resource utilization, and effectively improves the throughput of LEO satellite networks.
This paper reports on estimating the Schottky barrier height of small contacts using a thermionic-field emission model. Our results indicate that the logarithmic plot of the current as a function of bias voltage across the Schottky diode gives a linear relationship, while the plot as a function of the total applied voltage across a metal-silicon contact gives a parabolic relationship. The Schottky barrier height is extracted from the slope of the linear line resulting from the logarithmic plot of current versus bias voltage across the Schottky diode. The result reveals that the barrier height decreases from 0.6 eV to 0.49 eV when the thickness of the barrier metal is increased from 500 ${\AA}$ to 900 ${\AA}$. The extracted impurity concentration at the contact interface changes slightly with different Ti thicknesses with its maximum value at about $2.9{\times}10^{20}\;cm^{-3}$, which agrees well with the results from secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) measurements.
