  • This paper proposes a digital forensic method to a file creation transaction using a journal file($LogFile) on NTFS File System. The journal file contains lots of information which can help recovering the file system when system failure happens, so knowledge of the structure is very helpful for a forensic analysis. The structure of the journal file, however, is not officially opened. We find out the journal file structure with analyzing the structure of log records by using reverse engineering. We show the digital forensic procedure extracting information from the log records of a sample file created on a NTFS volume. The related log records are as follows: bitmap and segment allocation information of MFT entry, index entry allocation information, resident value update information($FILE_NAME, $STANDARD_INFORMATION, and INDEX_ALLOCATION attribute etc.).

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the market structure and price formation status of imported log from overseas which has leadership of timber price decision mechanism in Korea. The results obtained are as follows; 1) The 53 percents of the total 134 log importing companies are the small scale companies which import less than ten thousand cubic meters per year, and are mainly aimed to do agent task of importing log. 2) The market structure of imported log formed high level 01 oligopolistic structure, but did not make excess profit of oligopoly because of excess import. 3) The bargaining power of Korea on the price decision process in the overseas log exporting market is very weak, because the market has the bilateral oligopoly structure, and the non-systematic importing behavior of Korean log importing companies make the bargaining power of Korea more weak. 4) It is analyzed that Korean domestic marketing system is comperatively simple, but reasonable marketing system is not established because of the disorder of the marketing behavior. From the results obtained above, it is proposed that the government has to establish the general institutional system to control the supply-demand and marketing problems of imported log, in order to establish the rational structure of market and price decision system of imported log.

  • This paper presents a data structure that implements a mergable double-ended priority queue : namely an improved relaxed min-max-pair heap. By means of this new data structure, we suggest a parallel algorithm to merge priority queues organized in two relaxed heaps of different sizes, n and k, respectively. This new data-structure eliminates the blossomed tree and the lazying method used to merge the relaxed min-max heaps in [9]. As a result, employing max($2^{i-1}$,[(m+1/4)]) processors, this algorithm requires O(log(log(n/k))${\times}$log(n)) time. Also, on the MarPar machine, this method achieves a 35.205-fold speedup with 64 processors to merge 8 million data items which consist of two relaxed min-max heaps of different sizes.

  • A comparison between the productivity of the evergreen needle pine(Pinus densiflora) and of the deciduous broad leaved oak(Quercus mongolica) stands, which is located near Choon-Chun city, Kangwon dist. have been established. The pine stand had a stand density of 938 trees per ha and oak stand had of 638 trees per ha. The diameter at breast height (D) and the height of tree (H) of each tree were measured in sample plot of 800$m^2$. Twelve standard sample trees chose from the sample area felled down, and then weighed the stem, branches and leaves separately, according to both the stratified clip technique and the stem analysis. The vertical distribution of photosynthetic system was arranged effectively for high productivity in the productive structure of both trees. The allometric relation between D2H and dry weight of stem (Ws), branches (Wb) and leaves (Wl) of pine were approximated by log Ws=0.6212 log D2H-0.5383 log Wb=0.4681 log D2H-0.7236 log Wl=0.2582 log D2H-5.1567 and those of oak were approximated by log Ws=0.5125 log D2H+0.0231 log Wb=0.5125 log D2H-0.3755 log Wl=0.8721 log D2H-2.9710 From the above, the standing crops of pine and oak in the sample area were estimated to be as much as 38.83ton and 48.11 ton of dry matter, above ground, per ha, respectively. Annual net production as the sum of the biomass newly formed during one year was appraised at 12.66ton/ha.yr in pine stand and at 8.74 ton/ha.yr in oak. The reason of high productivity of pine stand compared with oak might be resulted from much more about 4 times of the amount of the photosynthetic system, but less non-photosynthetic one of pine than those of oak. To increase the productivity of the forest stands investigated it was necessary to make densly a stand density, to be abundant in the inorganic nutrients and to preserve much water in soil to conserve the litters.

  • Given an n-length text T over a $\sigma$-size alphabet, we present a compressed representation of T which supports retrieving queries of rank/select/access and updating queries of insert/delete. For a measure of compression, we use the empirical entropy H(T), which defines a lower bound nH(T) bits for any algorithm to compress T of n log $\sigma$ bits. Our representation takes this entropy bound of T, i.e., nH(T) $\leq$ n log $\sigma$ bits, and an additional bits less than the text size, i.e., o(n log $\sigma$) + O(n) bits. In compressed space of nH(T) + o(n log $\sigma$) + O(n) bits, our representation supports O(log n) time queries for a log n-size alphabet and its extension provides O(($1+\frac{{\log}\;{\sigma}}{{\log}\;{\log}\;n}$) log n) time queries for a $\sigma$-size alphabet.

  • Web navigation mining is a method of discovering Web navigation patterns by analyzing the Web access log data. However, it is admitted that the log data contains noisy information that leads to the incorrect recognition of user navigation path on the Web's hyperlink structure. As a result, previous Web navigation mining systems that exploited solely the log data have not shown good performance in discovering correct Web navigation patterns efficiently, mainly due to the complex pre-processing procedure. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes a technique of amalgamating the Web's hyperlink structure information with the Web access log data to discover navigation patterns correctly and efficiently. Our implemented Web navigation mining system called SPMiner produces a WebTree from the hyperlink structure of a Web site that is used trl eliminate the possible noises in the Web log data caused by the user's abnormal navigational activities. SPMiner remarkably reduces the pre-processing overhead by using the structure of the Web, and as a result, it could analyze the user's search patterns efficiently.

  • Concern for the effects of toxic chemicals on the environment leads the search for better bioassay test organisms and test procedures. Photobacterium phosphoreum was used successfully as a test organism and the luminometer detection technique was an effective and simple method for determining the concentration of toxic chemicals. With EC50 a total of 14 chlorine substituted phenols benzenes and ethanes were used for the experiments. The test results showed that the toxicity to P. phosphoreum increased in the order of phenol > benzene > ethane and the toxicity also increased with the number of chlorine substitution. Quantitative structure activity relationship (QSARO) model can be used to predict EC50 to save time and endeavor. Correlation was well established with the QSAR parameters such as log P, log S and solvatochromic parameter(Vi/100 $\pi$, ${\beta}$m and am). The QSAR modeling was used with multi-regression analysis and mono-regression analysis. These analyses resulted in the following QSAR : $log EC_{50} =2.48 + 0.914 log S(n=9 R2=85.5% RE=0.378) log EC_{50}=0.35 - 4.48 Vi/100 + 2.84 \pi^* +9.46{\beta}m-4.48am (n =14 R2=98.2% RE=0.012) log EC_{50} =2.64 -1.66 log P(n=5, R2=98.8% RE=0.16) log EC_{50}=3.44 -1.09 log P(n=9 R2= 80.8% Re=0.207)$

  • Most graphical methods for categorical data can describe the structure of data and represent a measure of association among categorical variables. Among them the polyhedron plot represents sequential relationships among hierarchical log-linear models for a multidimensional contingency table. This kind of plot could be explored to describe the differences among sequential models. In this paper we suggest graphical methods, containing all the information, that reflect the relationship among all log-linear models in a certain hierarchical structure. We use the ideas of a correlation diagram.
