  • The effect of stb locus of E. COLI IncFII plasmid NR1 on the stability of chimeric plasmids was investigated. First, we have isolated the stability locus (stb) from E. coli NR1 plasmid and then inserted into the three different vectors, pUC8, YRp17 and YEp24. By examining their stability in E. coli and yeast, we showed that the recombinant plasmids containing stb locus were resonably stable. Also, by comparing the amounts of the rDNA fragments per haploid genome with those of the plasmid fragments, we showed they copy number of recombinant plasmids was not increased. Consequently, the stb locus of E. coli IncFII plasmid NR1 stabilized the chimeric plasmids but did not affect the replication or copy number of plasmids.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among the internal locus of control, perceived family support, family cohesion, family adaptability, and children's social behaviors. The subjects were 285 6th and 8th grade students and their homeroom teachers. A questionnaire was used as survey method. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan post test. and multiple regression. The results are as follows: First, internal locus of control was positively related to social competence and negatively related to antisocial behavior. Perceived family support, family cohesion and adaptability were positively related to social competence and negatively related to antisocial behavior. Second, girls were higher internal locus of control, family cohesion, family adaptability and social competence and lower in antisocial behavior than boys. The 8th graders had lower scores than 6th graders in perceived family support, family cohesion, family adaptability and social competence and higher level of antisocial behavior. Third, perceived family support and family adaptability impacted social competence in girls, and grade impacted social competence in boys. Grade, perceived family support and locus of control had significant effects on the antisocial behavior in boys, and perceived family support impacted antisocial behavior in girls.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine how elementary school students' self-acceptance, social support and internal locus of control affect their speech anxiety. A questionnaire survey was distributed to 570 fifth and sixth graders attending 4 elementary schools located in Seoul. A total of 534 surveys were completed and were analyzed with SPSS WIN 12.0 including frequency test, t-test, Pearson's correlations analysis, simultaneous multiple regression and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, among self-acceptance, social support, internal locus of control and speech anxiety, gender affected speech anxiety. Second, speech anxiety was most affected by self-acceptance, followed by social support, internal locus of control and gender in the order of mention. Third, social support had moderating effects on the relationship between self-acceptance and speech anxiety.

  • The purpose of this paper was to investigate the relationships among college students' life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being. A total of 279 college students participated in this study. It was administered a questionnaire consisting of questioned of concerning life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being. The correlation analysis and the analysis of mediating effect were conducted on the data. The main results of data analysis showed (1) correlations among life stress, self-efficacy, locus of control, and subjective well-being, (2) significant mediating effect of self-efficacy between life stress and subjective well-being. The direction of a further study was suggested.

  • Purpose: This research aims to provide solutions for human resource problems in public educational institutions to improve employee performance. Research design, data, and methods: The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were obtained through questionnaires and documentation. Meanwhile, the model used path analysis using Analysis Moment Structure (AMOS) software. Results: Results showed that there was a significant relationship between locus of control and redistribution variables on employee empowerment as well as on employee performance. This result implied that good management through the locus of control and employee redistribution in public organizations could be better to serve the community and organizations. Public change to be superior and demanded by the community to make it a good place to learn. Employees' good behavior and increasing competence can satisfy users of educational and sustainable institutions. Conclusion: To sum up, research on management development of locus of control and employee redistribution is needed to make public organizations, especially those engaged in education. This study provides academic implications by revealing that the locus of control factor and employee redistribution in public organizations are needed to improve institutional services.

  • We describe tests for detecting and locating quantitative traits loci (QTL) for traits in Hanwoo. Lod scores and a permutation test have been described. From results of a permutation test to detect QTL, we select major DNA markers of BMS1167 microsatellite locus in Hanwoo chromosome 17 for further analysis. K-means clustering analysis applied to four traits and eight DNA markers in BMS1167 resulted in three cluster groups. We conclude that the major DNA markers of BMS1167 microsatellite locus in Hanwoo chromosome 17 are markers 100bp, 108bp and 110bp.

  • Two Monascus purpureus genomes lack the monacolin K biosynthesis locus (mok), while Monascus species are generally assumed to be monacolin K producers. These M. purpureus harbor a fusion of mokA and mokB orthologues. This finding suggests that an ancestral mok locus underwent a deletion event in the M. purpureus genome.

  • The effects of family solidarity and locus of control on the perceived economic well-being of the elderly were examined in a sample of 433 metropolitan and nonmetropolitan elderly. The major findings were as follows: 1. The higher family solidarity the higher would be perceived economic well-being of the elderly. 2. Internally oriented elderly tended to have a high level of perceived economic well-being 3. Family solidarity was significantly associated with perceived economic well-being was positively affected by family solidarity and locus of control for both metropolitan and nonmetropolitan elderly. 6. family solidarity was found to affect perceived economic well-being directly and also indirectly by enhancing locus of control for the whole and metropolitan elderly. 7. Family solidarity and locus of control has direct effects on perceived economic well-being for nonmetropolitan elderly.
