  • Recently, one of the problems with the Internet is the issue of scalability. To this end, locator/identifier separation protocol (LISP), which separates end-system identifiers and routing locators, has been proposed as a solution. In the LISP deployed network, the ingress and egress nodes of inter-AS traffic is determined by edge router selection (ERS) and endpoint identifier-routing locator mapping assignment (ERMA). In this paper, joint optimizations of ERS and ERMA for stub networks with and without predetermined link weights are studied and the mixed integer linear programming (MILP) formulations for the problems are given. To make the problem with optimizable link weights tractable, a revised local search algorithm is also proposed. Simulation results show that joint optimization of ERS and ERMA enables better network performance.

  • PURPOSE. The aim of the present study was to evaluate, by means of strain gauge analysis, the effect of different implant angulations on strains around two implants retaining mandibular overdenture with Locator attachments. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four duplicate mandibular acrylic models were constructed. Two implants were inserted in the canine regions using the following degrees of distal inclinations: group I (control); $0^{\circ}$, group II; $10^{\circ}$, group III; $20^{\circ}$, and group IV; $30^{\circ}$. Locator pink attachments were used to connect the overdenture to the implants and Locator red (designed for severely angled implants) was used for group IV (group $IV_{red}$). For each group, two linear strain gauges were attached at the mesial and distal surfaces of the acrylic resin around each implant. Peri-implant strain was measured on loading and non-loading sides during bilateral and unilateral loading. RESULTS. For all groups, the mesial surfaces of the implants at loading and non-loading sides experienced compressive (negative) strains, while the distal implant surfaces showed tensile (positive) strains. Group IV showed the highest strain, followed by group III, group II. Both group I and group $IV_{red}$ showed the lowest strain. The strain gauges at the mesial surface of the loading side recorded the highest strain, and the distal surface at non-loading side showed the lowest strain. Unilateral loading recorded significantly higher strain than bilateral loading. CONCLUSION. Peri-implant strains around two implants used to retain mandibular overdentures with Locator attachments increase as distal implant inclination increases, except when red nylon inserts were used.

  • The length of root canal has to be measured for endodontic treatment. Several electronic apex locators were developed to measure the length of root canal by other researchers. And their accuracies were verified by X-ray or micrometer method. But these methods did not consider the non-linear bends of pulp and had ${\pm}0.5mm$ error which was large enough to measure the length of root canal. The purpose of this study is the introduction of a new method to measure the length of root canal and the verification of the accuracy of an electronic apex locator using a Micro-CT. The length of root canal of 6 teeth were measured with the electronic apex locator. When the electronic apex locator reads 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9 and 1.0 mm length of the file which was inserted in the hole of the tooth to measure the length of root canal. The average (${\pm}$Standard deviation) length of root canal of 6 teeth measured by the Micro-CT was $0.49{\pm}0.03,\;0.59{\pm}0.04,\;0.68{\pm}0.03,\;0.78{\pm}0.03,\;0.90{\pm}0.04\;and\;1.01{\pm}0.03mm$, respectively. The maximum error of the electronic apex locator was 0.06 mm.

  • Due to the limitations of conventional removable partial denture prostheses to treat a cleft lip & palate patient who shows scar tissue on upper lip, excessive absorption of the maxillary residual alveolar ridge, and class III malocclusion with narrow palate and undergrowth of the maxilla, 4 implants were placed on the maxillary edentulous region and a maxillary removable implant-supported partial denture was planned using a CAD/CAM milled titanium bar. Unlike metal or gold casting technique which has shrinkage after the molding, CAD/CAM milled titanium bar is highly-precise, economical and lightweight. In practice, however, it is very hard to obtain accurate friction-fit from the milled bar and reduction in retention can occur due to repetitive insertion and removal of the denture. Various auxiliary retention systems (e.g. $ERA^{(R)}$, $CEKA^{(R)}$, magnetics, $Locator^{(R)}$ attachment), in order to deal with these problems, can be used to obtain additional retention, cost-effectiveness and ease of replacement. Out of diverse auxiliary attachments, $Locator^{(R)}$ has characteristics that are dual retentive, minimal in vertical height and convenient of attachment replacement. Drill and tapping method is simple and the replacement of the metal female part of $Locator^{(R)}$ attachment is convenient. In this case, the $Locator^{(R)}$ attachment is connected to the milled titanium bar fabricated by CAD/CAM, using the drill and tapping technique. Afterward, screw holes were formed and 3 $Locator^{(R)}$ attachments were secured with 20 Ncm holding force for additional retention. Following this procedure, satisfactory results were obtained in terms of aesthetic facial form, masticatory function and denture retention, and I hereby report this case.

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in retention and wear pattern of Locator® and ADD-TOC attachments on a digital milled bar by performing chewing simulation and repeated insertion/removal of prostheses in fully edentulous models. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Locator (Locator®; Zest Anchors Inc., Escondido, CA, USA) was selected as the control group and ADD-TOC (ADD-TOC; PNUAdd Co., Ltd., Busan, Republic of Korea) as the experimental group. A CAD-CAM milled bar was mounted on a master model and 3 threaded holes for connecting a bar attachment was formed using a tap. Locator and ADD-TOC attachments were then attached to the milled bar. Simulated mastication and repeated insertion/removal were performed over 400,000 cyclic loadings and 1,080 insertions/removals, respectively. Wear patterns on deformed attachment were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy. RESULTS. For the ADD-TOC attachments, chewing simulation and repeated insertion/removal resulted in a mean initial retentive force of 24.43 ± 4.89 N, which were significantly lower than that of the Locator attachment, 34.33 ± 8.25 N (P < .05). Amounts of retention loss relative to baseline for the Locator and ADD-TOC attachments were 21.74 ± 7.07 and 8.98 ± 5.76 N (P < .05). CONCLUSION. CAD-CAM milled bar with the ADD-TOC attachment had a lower initial retentive force than the Locator attachment. However, the ADD-TOC attachment might be suitable for long-term use as it showed less deformation and had a higher retentive force after simulated mastication and insertion/removal repetitions.

  • Treatment with removable partial denture is effective for partially edentulous patients who are unable to obtain sufficient retention and stability for functional and esthetic restoration. There are several cases reporting the improvement of retention and stability of the partial denture using a small number of implants. However, there are limited studies on the implant-assisted removable partial denture using a small number of remaining teeth and the bar locator system. The bar locator system has an advantage in that it could compensate the angle of insertion of removable prosthesis on implant with inconsistent placement angle due to anatomical constraints compared to when using the locator only. This case report describes the patient with $Parkinson^{\circ}$Øs disease who was treated with the Locator bar system using two previously placed implants and two remaining teeth on maxilla. No additional implants could be placed because of the medical and economic condition of the patients, and the angle of one of two implants could not be matched with the direction of the removable partial denture insertion. Considering the angle of the implants, the patient was treated with implant-assisted RPD using the Locator bar system and had satisfactory results in the aspect of esthetics, masticatory function, and oral hygiene maintenance.

  • A new time-domain decoder for Reed-Solomon (RS) codes is proposed. Because this decoder can correct both errors and erasures without computing the erasure locator, errata locator, or errata evaluator polynomials, the computational complexity can be substantially reduced. Herein, to demonstrate this benefit, complexity comparisons between the proposed decoder and the Truong-Jeng-Hung and Lin-Costello decoders are presented. These comparisons show that the proposed decoder consistently has lower computational requirements when correcting all combinations of ${\nu}$ errors and ${\mu}$ erasures than both of the related decoders under the condition of $2{\nu}+{\mu}{\leq}d_{\min}-1$, where $d_{min}$ denotes the minimum distance of the RS code. Finally, the (255, 223) and (63, 39) RS codes are used as examples for complexity comparisons under the upper bounded condition of min $2{\nu}+{\mu}=d_{\min}-1$. To decode the two RS codes, the new decoder can save about 40% additions and multiplications when min ${\mu}=d_{min}-1$ as compared with the two related decoders. Furthermore, it can also save 50% of the required inverses for min $0{\leq}{\mu}{\leq}d_{\min}-1$.

  • ELT(emergency locator transmitter) has assisted in the rescue of thousands of lives in distress. Aviators, mariners and land users being equipped with distress beacons are capable of transmitting distress signals to the satellites in emergency situations anywhere in the world. In this paper, Drop/Impact simulation was performed for ELT Body-case. FE model for Body-case was constructed with MSC/Dytran and refined using the Karas example simulation for Body-case prototype. Shock/impact survivability analysis was performed for ELT operations. FE model constructed with MSC/Nastran. Transient response analysis for refined ELT model was perfomed for ELT under impact shock loading condition.
