Distribution Center Location and Routing Problem with Demand Dependent on the Customer Service (고객서비스에 따른 수요변화하에서의 분배센터 입지선정과 경로 문제)

  • The distribution center location and routing problem involves interdependent decisions among facility, transportation, and inventory decisions. The design of distribution system affects the customers' purchase decision by sets the level of customer service to be offered. Thus the lower product availability may cause a loss of demand as falls off the customers' purchase intention, and this is related to the firm's profit reduction. This study considers the product availability of the distribution centers as the measure of the demand level change of the demand points, and represents relation between customer service and demand level with linear demand function. And this study represents the distribution center location and routing to demand point in order to maximize the total profit that considers the products' sales revenue by customer service, the production cost and the distribution system related costs.

Location-Based Services for Dynamic Range Queries

  • To conserve the usage of energy, indexing techniques have been developed in a wireless mobile environment. However, the use of interleaved index segments in a broadcast cycle increases the average access latency for the clients. In this paper, we present the broadcast-based location dependent data delivery scheme (BBS) for dynamic range queries. In the BBS, broadcasted data objects are sorted sequentially based on their locations, and the server broadcasts the location dependent data along with an index segment. Then, we present a data prefetching and caching scheme, designed to reduce the query response time. The performance of this scheme is investigated in relation to various environmental variables, such as the distributions of the data objects, the average speed of the clients, and the size of the service area.

  • The recent Internet is changing from its best-effort service and needs the network structure and traffic engineering, which can support various applications requiring differentiated traffic processing and high quality of service. The extension of the Internet from wired to wireless system generating location-dependent and burst errors make more difficult to support a good service with the existing packet scheduling algorithm. In this paper, we propose a wireless diffserv packet scheduling (WDSPS) algorithm that can provide reliable service in the differentiated wireless internet service network. The proposed scheduling algorithm solves the HOL(head of line) blocking problems of class queue occurred in wireless network, supports the differentiated service for each class which is defined in differentiated service networks and makes possible the gradual and efficient service compensation not only among classes but also among flows to prevent the monopoly of one class or one flow. Through simulations, we show that our proposed WDSPS scheduling algorithm can provide the required QoS differentiation between classes and enhance the service throughput in various wireless network conditions.

Location Factors Determining Hair-style Service Sales (미용서비스업체의 입지요인과 경영성과에 관한 실증연구)

  • This paper aims to examine the location factors affecting small service business performance, especially hair-style service business sales which are assumed to be dependent on outskirts' residents. In contrast to the prior research, this study measures sales amount as business success factors rather than business man's satisfaction level or customers' royalty. The empirical results show that hair-style service business can be determined by visibility and access level of its shop. In addition, its sales can be influenced by hairstyling chair, but its sales per a designer can impacted by hairstyling chair. This study also presents additional examinations about several independent factors which can have influence on hair-style business performance and several location traits that can have an significant influence on its sales volume.

  • Indexing techniques are used to implement selective tuning in wireless environments Indices are broadcast together with data to help mobile clients locate the required information. As a result, clients stay in doze mode most of the time. The drawback of this solution is that broadcast cycles are lengthened due to additional index information. In location-aware mobile services(LAMSs), it is important to reduce the query response time, since a late query response nay contain out-of-date information. In this paper, we present a broadcast-based spatial query processing method (BBS) designed to support k-NN query processing.   • In ubiquitous spaces, a user wants to be provided with a VOD service while moving one space to another freely. Since the traditional VOD system is dependent on user location, the VOD server transmits video data to a single client during a session. If the user moves to another space, he/she should close the old session and make a new request for the same video. However, the location-aware VOD system supports user mobility by closing and opening the session automatically. That is, the VOD system automatically perceives the movement of a user and allows the server to change the data flow so that a client near the user can receive the video data. This paper proposes a location-aware VOD service architecture and a session handoff scheme to provide a mobile user with continuous video delivery and implements a location-aware VOD prototype system based on Jini and Java. In experiment, we show that the proposed handoff scheme has a smaller handoff delay than the other handoff scheme.

The Effect of Location of Waiting Place on Consumers' Perceived Waiting Time in a Family Restaurant (레스토랑의 대기 장소의 위치가 고객의 대기시간 지각에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - Although an extensive body of research in psychology and marketing focuses on perceived waiting time, no research has examined the effect of the location of the waiting place on perceived waiting time. In particular, this study suggests that customers who are waiting in a restaurant may have different perceived waiting time depending on whether they are in close proximity to the service area (e.g., dining area) or farther from it. In particular, the author examines how and why the location of the waiting place affects the perceived waiting time of the consumer and reveals the mental simulation as its psychological mechanism. Research design, data, and methodology - This study conducted field surveys with customers waiting in real restaurants. Eighty-eight people participated under two conditions: a restaurant with a waiting place near the dining area and a restaurant with a waiting place far from the dining area. Participants responded to questions about perceived waiting time (the dependent variable), mental simulation (the mediator), and demographic variables. To verify the hypothesis, ANOVA and bootstrapping analysis were performed. Results - The major results from the field study are as follows. First, participants perceived wait time differently depending on the location of the restaurant's waiting place: participants in the restaurant with a waiting place close to the dining area perceived significantly shorter waiting times. Second, the effect of the location of the waiting place on the perceived waiting time was mediated by mental simulation: the closer the wait location is to the dining area, the more imagination the customer exercises about the meal, which in turn distracts attention from time flow and shortens the perceived wait time. Conclusion - This study has a theoretical implication in that it extends research on perceived waiting time as the first study of how and why the location of a waiting place affects a customer's perceived waiting time. It has a practical implication that can be used as a marketing tactics to improve the image of the service provider by changing the location of the waiting place.

Implementation of Mobile Digital Signage System on the Moving Vehicle (차량 탑재형 모바일 디지털 사이니지 구현)

  • We propose a vehicle-mounted, location-aware mobile digital signage system that can be used for public transportation through mobile communication. This paper proposes the installations of the LED display panels at the backside of the bus., which display traffic information to cars behind the bus. Information to be displayed would include, but is not limited to, road information, public commercials and private commercials. We propose the system architecture and further implement the prototype of mobile digital signage system for demonstration. The system is based on the Client-Server system. Each bus has a client terminal which detects the current location by a GPS receiver and sends its location information to the server using mobile communication function. The terminal device receives advertisements and traffic information from the server and displays it to the large LCD or LED panel installed at the inside and outside of the bus. We use the Android smartphone as a client system, which inherently equipped with GPS and mobile communication function. GPS detects the location of bus and reports its geo-location data to the traffic information center server via a wireless communication network. On the server side, we developed a specially designed control server, where it communicates with the other traffic information center and updates and manages the databases contents being displayed by each position. The server contains location dependent variable information and returns selected information back to the vehicle in real time. Spatial database is used to process location based data. Server system periodically receives the real time traffic information from the road information center database. And it process the information by bus location and bus line number. In this paper, we propose a mobile digital signage service and explain the system implementation of this service.

Accuracy Improvement Scheme for Location Awareness based on UWB system (UWB 기반 위치인식 정확도 향상 기법)

  • In recent years, LBS(Location Based Service) is applied in many different fields. Therefore, various location-aware schemes have been studied. In the location awareness system using time dependent algorithm, TOA(Time of Arrival) or TDOA(Time Difference of Arrival) algorithm, distortion of a signal by AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) and multi-path effects cause the degradation of location awareness performance. In this paper, the unexpected noise is eliminated by averaging multiple pulses in order to overcome the degradation of performance. Also, we research the technique for improving the performance of the location awareness by detecting direct-path signal with adjusting threshold.

  • Now a days, people are interested in tourism and leisure activity more and because of the increase of pastime and disposable income as a result of current economic growth. The importance of service industry in getting more serious thereby food industry, especially fastfood, is becoming popular in Korea. Food industry in Korea has been showing high growth rate in both quantity and quality for 10 years and fastfood chains maintains radical growth with 50% being forecasted that they will make huge market in Korea. Therefore, fastfood industry seems to be promising industry which has high potentials. This rapid growth of fastfood industry has been solving a lot of problems such as insanitation, low nutrition, and bad service quality and its positive aspects which make revolutional changes in production and sales are emphasized because it made industrialization with innovative system. So various menu development and service marketing strategy are really need to manage chains for the situation in Korea. Thus, the competitiveness of fastfood clams is dependent on the location of restaurant and the quality of various products. If the marketing strategy for fastfood industry need to established. constant studies should be done to resolve these problems.
