Developing Advanced Location-Based Route-Search Service for Smart-phones (진보된 스마트폰용 위치 기반 경로 검색 서비스 개발)

  • Various smart-phone applications for location-based service are enabled through mobile communications such as 3G and WiFi. We have developed MARS, an advanced location-based route-search application based on the Android platform. It provides three functions: route-registration, route-search, and route-evaluation. These functions are dynamically maintained by a web server, a database server, and user mobile terminals. As users can update location information using their smart-phone devices, servers provide the information and allow users to add, modify, and remove their own information as well as adding comments to others, while existing map services do not support direct inputs from users. We show our implementation process and demonstration of its operations. We also show the comparison results with existing services. Through these results, we can confirm that MARS can achieve better performance.

  • The Internet has become an important instrument for providing many pieces of information to us. And server systems offer the various services after processing a volume of information, it's network topology also has been complex for providing information. Therefore this expansion means the importance of fast and sustained management of server systems. But most of server systems are located in fire-walls to allow only restricted access. Moreover, due to the difference of management based on the different operating system of each server system, management of server system is not to efficiency. That is, sever administrators have to manage by themselves many kinds of servers by using local-based or socket-based single access applications. Therefore, we design and implement a middleware system which allows to manage many kinds of severs integrally ruling XML-based Web Services which have distributed object technology such as CORBA, Java RMI and DCOM, but are free from platforms or development languages. System also provides location transparency and terminal independence and calls a server system management command to manage systems.

  • SIP-based tightly coupled conference, which has a centrally located conference server for controlling and management, can be classified several models according to location of focus and mixer. These are centralized server model, endpoint server model, media server component model and distributed mixing model. However each model has its strength and weakness. In this paper, we propose and implement a SIP-based effective hybrid-type conference model which decreases amount of SIP signaling messages, lowers load of server media mixer, and can be easily expandable to large scale conference. In this model, when the number of participants exceeds a pre-defined limit, the conference server selects some participants which posses specific functions and let them share functions of notifications of conference state event package and media mixing. When each participant subscribes conference state event package to the server, it can indicates its possession of such functions by a specific header message. The server stores the indication to the conference information database, and later uses it to select participants for load sharing. The performance of our proposed model is evaluated by experiments.

  • With the rapid growth of GPS-enable Smartphones, the interest on using Location Based Services (LBSs) has increased significantly. The evolution in the functionalities provided by those smartphones has enabled them to accurately pinpoint the location of a user. Because location information is what all LBSs depend on to process user's request, it should be properly protected from attackers or malicious service providers (SP). Additionally, maintaining user's privacy and confidentiality are imperative challenges to be overcome. A possible solution for these challenges is to provide user anonymity, which means to ensure that a user initiating a request to the SP should be indistinguishable from a group of people by any adversary who had access to the request. Most of the proposals that maintain user's anonymity are based on location obfuscation. It mainly focuses on adjusting the resolution of the user's location information. In this paper, we present a new protocol that is focused on using cryptographic techniques to provide anonymity for LBSs users in the smartphone environment. This protocol makes use of a trusted third party called the Anonymity Server (AS) that ensures anonymous communication between the user and the service provider.

  • In this paper, we developed a low cost smart puck system that can interact with the intuitive operation of natural finger touches. The tangible smart puck, designed for capacitive tabletop display, has Arduino embedded processor which communicates only with the MT server. The MT server communicates both to the smart puck and the display server. The display server displays the relevance information on the location of the smart pucks on the tabletop display and handles interactions with the users. The experiment results show that the accuracy of identifying the smart puck ID was very reliable enough to use in practice, and the information presentation processing time is confirmed excellent enough compared to traditional expensive commercial products.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a real time IoT messaging system that can collect location information of moving vehicles and pedestrians in real time using MQTT protocol and provides location based information service in administrative area. We implemented MQTT based IoT device for vehicle location information collection and communication and MQTT based smartphone application for pedestrian location information service. IoT clients can send messages to the server in administrative units by using the MQTT Topic which is equal to administrative names. The SLIMS (Seoul Location based IoT Messaging System) implemented in this study is able to analyze the real time traffic volume of pedestrians and vehicles by tracking clients. It also can deliver messages to clients based on coordinate range. SLIMS can be used as a real-time location-based information service for large-scale IoT devices such as real-time flow population and vehicle traffic analysis and location-based message delivery.

  • Information security reports four types of basic attacks on information. One of the attacks is named as fabrication. Even though mobile devices and applications are showing its maturity in terms of performance, security and ubiquity, location-based applications still faces challenges of quality of service, privacy, integrity, authentication among mobile devices and hence mobile users associated with the devices. There is always a continued fear as how location information of users or IoT appliances is used by third party LB Service providers. Even adversary or malicious attackers get hold of location information in transit or fraudulently hold this information. In this paper, location information fabrication scenarios are presented after knowing basic model of information attacks. Peer-to-Peer broadcast model of location privacy is proposed. This document contains introduction to fabrication, solutions to such threats, management of fabrication mitigation in collaborative or peer to peer location privacy and its cost analysis. There are various infrastructure components in Location Based Services such as Governance Server, Point of interest POI repository, POI service, End users, Intruders etc. Various algorithms are presented and analyzed for fabrication management, integrity, and authentication. Moreover, anti-fabrication mechanism is devised in the presence of trust. Over cost analysis is done for anti-fabrication management due to nature of various cryptographic combinations.

  • This paper proposes a cluster-based PCS(Personal Communication Services) network architecture to support increased signaling and control traffic. The procedures are presented to serve the mjobility management and the efficient procesing of the call-control functional using distributed servers. Especially when call-setups are made within a cluster, this distributed servers. Especially when call-setup time and the amount of control traffic of H-HLS (High level Home Location Server) in the network as L-HLS(Low lever Home Location Server) serves the call on behalf of H-HLS. Performance and reliability of the architecture have been also cairried out.

Simple Protection Method against Deregistration Attack in SIP (SIP 등록취소 공격에 대한 단순한 방어 기법)

  • Although deregistration attack is caused by simple spoofing the REGISTER message of a legitimate SIP UA, its impact is serious. The root cause of this attack is based on the fact that RFC 3261 allows the UA to remove the binding from the Location Server. In this paper, we propose a simple protection method to allow Registrar or Location Server just to ignore deregistration messages. We also show that this method works well by analyzing the process of registration and deregistration. Without any additional overhead such as an encryption or authentication, this method is able to establish a secure SIP environment efficiently protecting against the deregistration attack.

  • Peer-to-Peer system has emerged as a popular model aiming at further utilizing Internet information and resources, complementing the available client-server services. However, the mechanism of peers randomly choosing logical neighbors without any knowledge about underlying physical location aware topology can cause serious performance degradation. In this paper, we consider the network distance between peers so that it helps peers select neighbors located at the nearest when they exchange queries for sharing of resources. To reduce the unnecessary signaling traffic and delay of query exchange, we propose a location aware topology based Hybrid P2P system. This system calculates the network distance which combines the direct measurement such as RTT (Round Trip Time) with geographic space of peers using IP address
