The purpose of this paper is to analyze the characteristics of Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM) for the realization of high-sensitivity radiation detection in portable detectors. Portable X-ray detectors offer the advantage of quickly accessing the patient's location and obtaining real-time images, allowing physicians to perform rapid diagnoses. However, this mobility comes with challenges in achieving accurate radiation detection. In existing detectors, SiPM is used for a simple purpose of detecting X-ray triggers. To verify the feasibility of high-sensitivity X-ray detection through SiPM, seven types of SiPM sensors were compared and selected, and their characteristics were analyzed. The SiPM used in the final test demonstrated the ability to distinguish signals at the ultra-low radiation level of 10 nGy, and it was observed that the slope of the signal rise curve varies with the X-ray tube voltage. Utilizing the characteristics of SiPM, which exhibits changes in signal level and duration with X-ray dose, it appears possible to achieve high-sensitivity measurements for X-ray detection.
With advances in autonomous vehicles, there is a growing demand for more accurate position estimation. Especially, this is a case for a moving robot for the indoor operation which necessitates the higher accuracy in position estimation when the robot is required to execute the task at a predestined location. Thus, a method for improving the position estimation which is applicable to both the fixed and the moving object is proposed. The proposed method exploits the initial position estimation from Bluetooth beacon signals as observation signals. Then, it estimates the gravitational acceleration applied to each axis in an inertial frame coordinate through computing roll and pitch angles and combining them with magnetometer measurements to compute yaw angle. Finally, it refines the control inputs for an object with motion dynamics by computing acceleration on each axis, which is used for improving the performance of Kalman filter. The experimental assessment of the proposed algorithm shows that it improves the position estimation accuracy in comparison to a conventional Kalman filter in terms of average error distance at both the fixed and moving states.
Recently, Lee et al. have proposed an algorithm utilizing the signals from different paths by using bottom mounted simple linear array to estimate 3-D location of oceanic target. But this algorithm assumes that sound velocity is constant along depth of sea. Consequently, serious performance loss is appeared in real oceanic environment that sound speed is changed variously. In this paper, we present a 3-D near field localization algorithm for inhomogeneous sound speed. The proposed algorithm adopt localization function that utilize ray propagation model for multipath environment with linear sound speed profile(SSP), after that, the proposed algorithm searches for the instantaneous azimuth angle, range and depth from the localization cost function. Several simulations using linear SSP and non linear SSP similar to that of real oceans are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The estimation error in range and depth is decreased by 100m and 50m respectively.
Research into vision-based end-to-end autonomous driving systems utilizing deep learning and reinforcement learning has been steadily increasing. These systems typically encode continuous and high-dimensional vehicle states, such as location, velocity, orientation, and sensor data, into latent features, which are then decoded into a vehicular control policy. The complexity of urban driving environments necessitates the use of state representation learning through networks like Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) or Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). This paper analyzes the impact of different image state encoding methods on reinforcement learning performance in autonomous driving. Experiments were conducted in the CARLA simulator using RGB images and semantically segmented images captured by the vehicle's front camera. These images were encoded using VAE and Vision Transformer (ViT) networks. The study examines how these networks influence the agents' learning outcomes and experimentally demonstrates the role of each state representation technique in enhancing the learning efficiency and decision- making capabilities of autonomous driving systems.
This paper proposes a new real-time fire monitoring and evacuation navigation system by integrating Augmented Reality (AR) technology with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The proposed system collects temperature data through IoT temperature measurement devices installed in buildings and automatically transmits it to a MySQL cloud database via an IoT platform, enabling real-time and accurate data monitoring. Subsequently, the real-time IoT data is visualized on a 3D building model generated through Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the model is represented in the real world using AR technology, allowing intuitive identification of the fire origin. Furthermore, by utilizing Vuforia engine's Device Tracking and Area Targets features, the system tracks the user's real-time location and employs an enhanced A* algorithm to find the optimal evacuation route among multiple exits. The paper evaluates the proposed system's practicality and demonstrates its effectiveness in rapid and safe evacuation through user experiments based on various virtual fire scenarios.
Applying autonomous driving technology to construction sites is very difficult due to safety issues. However, the application of various positioning and sensing devices, such as cameras and radars, to construction equipment is very active. Based on these technological trends, the government is making various efforts, including the Serious Accident Punishment Act and support for industrial safety management expenses, to reduce the incidence of accidents caused by construction equipment and industrial vehicles. And, related industries have been developing various safety equipment over the past few years and applying them to the field. In this paper, we investigate the current status of safety equipment-related technologies currently applied to construction equipment and industrial vehicles, and propose a direction for the development of safety technology in construction equipment based on artificial intelligence. Improving the safety and work efficiency of construction equipment based on the technology proposed in this paper should be reviewed through simulation in the future.

In a steel structure, spray-applied fire resistive materials are crucial in preventing structural strength from being weakened in the event of a fire. The quality control of such materials, however, is difficult for manual workers, who can frequently be in short supply. These skilled workers are also very likely to be exposed to environmental hazards. Problems with construction work such as this, which are specifically the difficulty of achieving quality control and the dangerous nature of the work itself, can be solved to some degree by the introduction of automated equipment. It is, however, very difficult to automate the work process, from operation to the selection of a location for the equipment, as the environment of a construction site has not yet been structured to accommodate automation. This is a fundamental study on the possibility of the automation of spray-applied fire resistive coating work. In this study, the linkability of the cutting-edge RTLS to an automation system is reviewed, and a scenario for the automation of spray-applied fire resistive coating work and system composition is presented. The system suggested in this study is still in a conceptual stage, and as such, there are many restrictions still to be resolved. Despite this fact, automation is expected to have good effectiveness in terms of preventing fire from spreading by maintaining a certain level of strength at a high temperature when a fire occurs, as it maintains the thickness of the fire-resistive coating at a specified level, and secures the integrity of the coating with the steel structure, thereby enhancing the fire-resistive performance. It also expected that if future research is conducted in this area in relation to a cutting-edge monitoring TRS, such as the ubiquitous sensor network (USN) and/or building information model (BIM), it will contribute to raising the level of construction automation in Korea, reducing costs through the systematic and efficient management of construction resources, shortening construction periods, and implementing more precise construction
The exhibition industry, as technology-intensive, eco-friendly industry, contributes to regional and national development and enhancement of its image as well, if it joins cultural and tourist industry. Therefore, We need to revitalize the exhibition industry, as actively holding an exhibition event. However, to attract a number of exhibition audience, the work of enhancing audience satisfaction and awareness of value for participation should be prioritized after improving quality of service within exhibition hall. As one way to enhance the quality of service, it is thought that the way providing personalized service geared toward each audience is needed. that is, if audience avoids the complexity in exhibition space and it affords them service to enable effective time and space management, it will improve the satisfaction. According to the statistics of traffic accidents over recent 5 years, traffic accidents during the night times happened more than the day times. There are various causes to occur traffic accidents and the one of the major causes is inappropriate or missing street lights that make driver's sight confused and causes the traffic accidents. In this paper, with smartphones, we designed and implemented a lane luminance measurement application which stores the information of driver's location, driving, and lane luminance into database in real time to figure out the inappropriate street light facilities and the area that does not have any street lights. This application is implemented under Native C/C++ environment using android NDK and it improves the operation speed than code written in Java or other languages. To measure the luminance of road, the input image with RGB color space is converted to image with YCbCr color space and Y value returns the luminance of road. The application detects the road lane and calculates the road lane luminance into the database sever. Also this application receives the road video image using smart phone's camera and improves the computational cost by allocating the ROI(Region of interest) of input images. The ROI of image is converted to Grayscale image and then applied the canny edge detector to extract the outline of lanes. After that, we applied hough line transform method to achieve the candidated lane group. The both sides of lane is selected by lane detection algorithm that utilizes the gradient of candidated lanes. When the both lanes of road are detected, we set up a triangle area with a height 20 pixels down from intersection of lanes and the luminance of road is estimated from this triangle area. Y value is calculated from the extracted each R, G, B value of pixels in the triangle. The average Y value of pixels is ranged between from 0 to 100 value to inform a luminance of road and each pixel values are represented with color between black and green. We store car location using smartphone's GPS sensor into the database server after analyzing the road lane video image with luminance of road about 60 meters ahead by wireless communication every 10 minutes. We expect that those collected road luminance information can warn drivers about safe driving or effectively improve the renovation plans of road luminance management.
The detection methods are required to monitor and diagnose the abnormality on the insulation condition inside a gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). Due to a good sensitivity to the products decomposed by partial discharges (PDs) in $SF_6$ gas, the development of a SWNT gas sensor is actively in progress. However, a few numerical studies on the diffusion mechanism of the $SF_6$ decomposition products by PD have been reported. In this study, we modeled $SF_6$ decomposition process in a chamber by calculating temperature, pressure and concentration of the decomposition products by using a commercial CFD program in conjunction with experimental data. It was assumed that the mass production rate and the generation temperature of the decomposition products were $5.04{\times}10^{-10}$ [g/s] and over 773 K respectively. To calculate the concentration equation, the Schmidt number was specified to get the diffusion coefficient functioned by viscosity and density of $SF_6$ gas instead rather than setting it directly. The results showed that the drive potential is governed mainly by the gradient of the decomposition concentration. A lower concentration of the decomposition products was observed as the sensors were placed more away from the discharge region. Also, the concentration increased by increasing the discharge time. By installing multiple sensors the location of PD is expected to be identified by monitoring the response time of the sensors, and the information should be very useful for the diagnosis and maintenance of GIS.
