In multiprocessor systems, interconnection network design is critical for overall system performance. Popular interconnection networks, which are generally considered, are meshes, rings, and hierarchical rings. In this paper, we propose (')Torus Ring('), which is a modified version of hierarchical ring. Torus Ring has the same complexity as the hierarchical rings, but the only difference is the way it connects the local rings. It has an advantage over the hierarchical rings when the destination of a packet is the neighbor local ring in the reverse direction. Though the average number of hops in Torus Ring is equal to that of the hierarchical rings when assuming the uniform distribution of each transaction, the benefits of the number of hops are expected to be larger because of the spatial locality in the real environment of parallel programming. In the simulation results, latencies in the interconnection network are reduced by up to 19$\%$, and the execution times are reduced by up to 10$\%$.

It is widely used that a network termination rate is calculated by using a Long Run Incremental Costing model. Interconnection Order issued Ministry of Information and Communication in Korea on December 2002 has declared that termination charges of local, national, payphone, and mobile calls are going to be determined by LRIC costing models after 2004. There are lots of preceding researches on a fixed network costing model for applying to LRIC method but on a mobile network not pretty much of them. Besides, Most important basis of current calculation models for termination charges are access costs to connect subscribers to network such as a local loop. In this paper, we look into being of access costs in mobile network and show the applicable standards for cost allocation of access costs in implementing LRIC costing model.
Abstract Since NUMA architecture has to access remote memory, interconnection network performance determines performance of NUMA architecture. Bus, which has been used as popular interconnection network of NUMA, has a limit to build a large-scale system because of limited physical scalability and bandwidth. Ring interconnection network, composed of high-speed point-to-point link, made up for bus's defects of scalability and bandwidth. But, it also has problem of increasing delay as the number of clusters is increased. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical expansion of snoop-based ring architecture in order to overcome ring's defects of increasing delay. And we also design an efficient cache coherence protocol adopted to this architecture. Bridge, which connects local ring and global ring, maintains cache coherence protocol and does snoop-filtering which reduces local ring and cluster bus utilization. Therefore bridge can improve performance of this system. We analyze effects of hierarchical architecture on the performance of system and utilization of point-to-point links using probability-driven simulator.

When Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network(BISDN) becomes commercially available In public network, conventional Local Area Network(LAN)s will still be in use. The first wide spread application for B-ISDN will be the interconnection of LANs. The equipment providing the connection between the LAN and the BISDN will be given the general name Inter Working Unit(IWU). We addresses the congestion problem of many interworking issues. In this paper, Our study is concentrated on applying connectionless network protocol for interworking. We suggest a rate control method in the network layer to prevent a buffer overflow in the IWU. Since this rate control method can be applied to prevent buffer overflow in a congested IWU, We investigate the use of rate control to solve congestion problems of IWU and parallize network layer with rate control to lessen the congestion problem in IWU.

In this paper, we propose a neural network model for speech recognition. The model consists of feature extraction parts and recognition parts. The interconnection model based on ${\Delta}^2$G operator was used for frequency analysis. Two features, global feature and local feature, were extracted from this model. Recognition parts consist of global grouping stage and local grouping stage. When the input pattern was coded by slope method, the recognition rate of speakers, A and B, was 100%. When the test was performed with the data of 9 speakers, the recognition rate of 91.4% was obtained.
This paper analyse impacts of Community Energy System (CES) on the grid during transition periods for integrating of the CES and the grid. In the near future, CES might be one of major energy supply structures. The basic concept of CES is that it supplies electrical and thermal energy to the local customer loads through the islanded power network separated from the grid. Therefore, the interconnection with the grid occurs only when the energy supply from the CES generators does not meet the demand of the local load. For avoiding impacting the grid during the transition operation modes of CES, it is necessary to thoroughly analyse the influences on the grid during those periods. In order to show them, in this paper, we model the CES with 2.34 WVA DG and simulate the impacts on the grid due to interconnection of CES The simulation results show that, in order to reduce bad influences of CES on the grid, CES need the efficient load management and generation control schemes during the transition periods.
Recently, the metropolitan area network (MAN) has attracted much attention in telecommunication research and has emerged as one of the most important research topics in the community. Several standards representing the first step for developing metropolitan networks have been published; IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) has taken a relevant role in reaching the goal of realizing a full-service network all over a urban and suburban area. At the same time, the wireless local area networks (WLAN) have been widely used for in-home or short range communications, mainly basing on the IEEE 802.11 (WiFi) standard. A consequence is the increasing interest in interworking technology, that allows an interconnection between different standards by maintaining certain properties, mainly in terms of quality of service (QoS). One of the major issues is to design bridging devices capable of transparently interconnect different wireless technologies. In this paper, we propose two interconnection bridging solutions between WiMAX and WiFi links; the first is more based on the concept of maintaining a certain end-to-end QoS level independently from the wireless technologies used. The second method is more devoted to the reduction of the implementation complexity at the cost of no QoS assurance. The performance of the two methods are compared by resorting to computer simulations showing the advantages of each one technique.
This paper discusses the LAN interface technics physically applicable to the ISDN exchange system through frame relay without changing of the basic exchange architecture. To ensure the success of frame relaying, it's interworking with the existing X.25 services is very imported, and for this purpose both X.75 and 1.122-based interworking alternative must be considered. Definition required to frame relay, interconnection of remote bridge and ways to design the Frame Handler carrying a frame realying in the ISDN node was introduced here. Subsequently, alternatives using the X.25 and X.75 or 1.122 as well as interconnection mechanism LAN and ISDN for the LAN interface and LAN and/or LAN interface and ISDN through frame relay was individually introduced. Through frame relay applications in the major countries, the achievement of high speed frame relaying service to the LAN was introduced.

This paper describes a design of LIN MCU using efficient memory accessing architecture which provides concurrent data and address fetch for faster communication. By using slew rate control it can reduce EMI emission while satisfying required communication specifications. To verify the efficiency of the LIN MCU, we developed a SoC and tested for several data packets. Measurements show that this LIN MCU improves network efficiency up to 17.19 % and response time up to 31.26 % for nominal cases. EMI radiation also can be reduced up to 10 dB.

The core technologies of the current transport network are OAM and protection switching to meet the sub-50ms protection switching time via a path redundancy when a link or node failure occurs. The transport networks owned by public network operators, central/local governments, and major enterprises are individually configured and managed with service resiliency in each own protected sub-network. When such networks are cascaded, it is also important to provide a node resiliency between two protected sub-networks. However, the linear protection switching in packet transport networks, such as MPLS-TP and Carrier Ethernet, does not define a solution of dual node interconnection. Although Ethernet ring protection switching covers the dual node interconnection scheme, a large amount of duplicated data frames may be flooded when a failure occurs on an adjacent (sub) ring. In this paper, we suggest a dual node interconnection scheme with linear protection switching technology in multiple protected sub-networks. And we investigate how various protected sub-network combinations with a proposed linear or ring protection process impact the service resiliency of multiple protected sub-networks through extensive experiments on link and interconnected node failures.
