The position of autonomous driving vehicle is basically acquired through the global positioning system (GPS). However, GPS signals cannot be received in tunnels. Due to this limitation, localization of autonomous driving vehicles can be made through sensors mounted on them. In particular, a 3D Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) system is used for longitudinal position error correction. Few feature points and structures that can be used for localization of vehicles are available in tunnels. Since lanes in the road are normally marked by solid line, it cannot be used to recognize a longitudinal position. In addition, only a small number of structures that are separated from the tunnel walls such as sign boards or jet fans are available. Thus, it is necessary to extract usable information from tunnels to recognize a longitudinal position. In this paper, fire hydrants and evacuation guide lights attached at both sides of tunnel walls were used to recognize a longitudinal position. These structures have highly distinctive reflectivity from the surrounding walls, which can be distinguished using LIDAR reflectivity data. Furthermore, reflectivity information of tunnel walls was fused with the road surface reflectivity map to generate a synthetic reflectivity map. When the synthetic reflectivity map was used, localization of vehicles was able through correlation matching with the local maps generated from the current LIDAR data. The experiments were conducted at an expressway including Maseong Tunnel (approximately 1.5 km long). The experiment results showed that the root mean square (RMS) position errors in lateral and longitudinal directions were 0.19 m and 0.35 m, respectively, exhibiting precise localization accuracy.
Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains as one of the most difficult malignancies to control because of its high propensity for local invasion and cervical lymph node dissemination. In this study, we evaluate the efficacy of our novel pH and temperature sensitive doxorubicin-methotrexate-loaded nanoparticles (DOX-MTX NP) in affecting HER2 expression profile in OSCC model in rat. Results: DOX-MTX- nanoparticle complexes caused significant decrease in mRNA level of HER2 compared to untreated cancers (p<0.05) and this finding was more pronounced with the IV mode (p<0.000). Surprisingly, HER2 mRNA was not affected in DOX treated as compared to the control group (p>0.05). On the other hand, in the DOX-MTX NP treated group, fewer tumors characterized with advanced stage and decreased HER2 paralleled improved clinical outcome (P<0.05). Moreover, the effectiveness of the oral route in the group treated with nanodrug accounted for the enhanced bioavailability of nanoparticulated DOX-MTX compared to free DOX. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in mRNA level of HER2 (p>0.05). Conclusions: Influence of HER2 gene expression is a new feature and mechanism of action observed only in dual action DOX-MTX-NPs treated groups. Down-regulation of HER2 mRNA as a promising marker and prognosticator of OSCC adds to the cytotoxic benefits of DOX in its new formulation. Both oral and IV application of this nanodrug could be used, with no preferences in term of their safety or toxicity. As HER2 is expressed abundantly by a wide spectrum of tumors, i DOX-MTX NPs may be useful for a wide-spectrum of lesions. However, molecular mechanisms underlying HER2 down regulation induced by DOX-MTX NPs remain to be addressed.
The present study was undertaken to determine the effect of tensile force on DNA and protein biosynthesis in bone cells, and to identify the cell type(s) which primarily respond to external physical force among the heterogenous bone cell populations. As a prerequisite for this study, two bone cell populations which retain fibroblastic and osteoblastic feature were isolated from fetal rat calvaria with sequential enzyme digestion scheme. Tensile force was delivered to each bone cell population by two acrylic resin plates connected with a orthodontic expansion screw during culture period. Rate of DNA and protein synthesis in each bone cell population were assessed by the incorporated radioactivity of $[^3H]-thymidine$ into DNA and $[^3H]-proline$ into fraction of collagenase-digestible protein and noncollagenous protein, respectively. DNA synthesis of osteoblast-like calvarial cell populations was increased significantly by the application of tensile force for 24 hours. In contrast, no alteration in DNA synthesis of fibroblast-like populations could be observed in response to applied force. Tensile force induced the change in protein synthesis of bone cell populations with the same pattern. Total protein and collagen synthesis were increased whithin 24 hours in osteoblast-like populations, but not in fibroblast-like populations by tensile force application. These findings indicate that physical force can affect cellullar activity of the particular cell population, not all cell Populations residing in bone and osteoblasts respond more sensitively than fibroblasts. So osteoblasts can modulate the behavior of other bone cells including osteoclasts by producing several local regulating factors of bone metabolism. In this context, preferential responsiveness of osteoblasts to applied tensile force observed in this study suggests that osteoblasts may play an important role in regulation of physical force-induced remodelling process.

Several improved quadrature polar separable (QPS) filters have been proposed and applied in texture processing since Knutsson proposed the QPS filter. They include a Knutsson's cosine function or oan exponential attenuation function, as the orientational function, and a Knutsson's exponential function or a finite prolate spheroidal sequence (FPSS) or an asymptotic FPSS, as the radial weighting functions. They represent different properties in terms of the generation of texture images, the orientational estimation, and the segmentation of synthetic texture image. In this paper, we have constructed several kernal functions for the 2-D QPS filter and analyzed their properties. A series of experiments have been carried out in order to estimate the frequency components and orientational angles of a local texture in Fourier domain. finally some problems encountered in applying QPS filters to feature description and segmentation are considered. Experimental results show that the improved Knutsson's filter and the asymptotic FPSS filter are useful in terms of the orientational estimation and the sementation of synthetic texture image.
There have been many discussions on export indices in trade exports, but there is no definite trade export index which can be explained by objective indicators. Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), etc., but we are currently in the process of thinking about ways to express the capabilities of exporting companies. In this study, we constructed the AI data sets by setting the activity indicators such as the size of the company and the credit score, the number of transaction customers, the number of transactions, the number of items, the transaction volume, and the transaction period as features, Lightgbm. Using the Graph Neural Network as an industrial cluster classification model, the export live index which expresses the exportable capacity among companies, items, and business groups was calculated. This includes the past activity of the company from the current calculating index Objectivity.
Movements are a critical ability to young children's whole development, including physical, social/emotional, and cognitive development. This paper proposes the method to estimate movements suitable for young children's body conditions. The proposed method extracts a silhouette in each frame of videos that are obtained by deploying two video cameras by compensating illuminations, removing background and conducting morphology operations. And we extract silhouette feature values: an area, the ratio of length to width, the lowest foot position, and 7 Hu moments. Also, the area and movements of sub-area are used as local features. For motion estimation, we used probability propagation of the features extracted from the front and side frames. The proposed estimation algorithm is demonstrated for seven movements, walking, jumping, hopping, bending, stretching, balancing, and turning.

In this paper, an algorithm for a real-time automatic fingerprint identification system is proposed. The fingerprint feature volume is extracted by considering distinct and local characteristics(such as intensity and image quality difference etc.) in fingerprint images, which makes the algorithm properly adaptive to various image acquisitionj methods. Also the matching technique is designed to be invariant on rotation, scaling and translation (RST) changes while being capable of real-time processing. And the classification of fingerprints is performed based on the ridge flow and the relations among singular points such as cores and deltas. The developed fingerprint identification algorithm has been applied to various sets of fingerprint images such as one from NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology, USA), a pressed fingerprint database constructed according to Korean population distributions in sex, ages and jobs, and a set of rolled-than-scanned fingerprint images. The overall performance of the algorithm has been analyzed and evaluated to the false rejection ratio of 0.07% while holding the false acceptance ratio of 0%.
Therapeutic angiogenesis is the controlled induction or stimulation of new blood vessel formation to reduce unfavourable tissue effects caused by local hypoxia and to enhance tissue repair. Therapeutic ultrasound can be considered as a physical agent to deliver therapeutic angiogenesis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of therapeutic ultrasound after muscle contusion injury by observed immunoreactivity of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) that plays an important role in angiogenesis and substance-P in pain transmission. Ultrasound irradiation(1MHz, $1W/cm^2$, continuous mode, treatment time 5 min) was applied through water submersion technique to 1 limb daily by kept off 5cm from muscle belly of gastrocnemius. The result of this study were as follows. 1. In morphological observation, there were no significant changes excepts of 7 days. At 7 days, granular tissue viewed abundantly in control group. In other groups, general feature were increased interspace of muscle fiber; centronucleated muscle fiber; collapsed of muscle and nerve tissue; appeared inflammatory cell. 2. The VEGF was expressed in interspace of muscle fiber. Especially, at 7 days in experimental group, VEGF was showed in connective tissue surrounding gastrocnemius muscle. 3. The VEGF was higher expressed in experimental group at 2 and 3 days, but in control group at 7 days. These data suggest therapeutic ultrasound enhanced production of VEGF in the early day relatively, therefore stimulated angiogenesis in the skeletal muscle induced contusion injury. Also therapeutic ultrasound may stimulate pain relief by diminish of substance-P in dorsal horn of spinal cord.
The purpose and need of the study is to quantify the advantage or disadvantage of the environmental friendliness of the partitioning of nuclear fuel cycle. To this end, a preliminary study on the quantitative effect of the partition on the permanent disposal of spent PWR and CANDU fuel (HLW) was carried out. Before any analysis, the so-called reference radionuclide release scenario from a potential repository embedded into a crystalline rock was developed. Firstly, the feature, event and processes (FEPs) which lead to the release of nuclides from waste disposed of in a repository and the transport to and through the biosphere were identified. Based on the selected FEPs, the ‘Well Scenario’which might be the worst case scenario was set up. For the given scenario, annual individual doses to a local resident exposed to radioactive hazard were estimated and compared to that from direct disposal. Even though partitioning and transmutation could be an ideal solution to reduce the inventory which eventually decreases the release time as well as the peaks in the annual dose and also minimize the repository area through the proper handling of nuclides, it should overcome major disadvantages such as echnical issues on the partitioning and transmutation system, cost, and public acceptance, and environment friendly issues. In this regard, some relevant issues are also discussed to show the direction for further studies.
Recently, TMDL has been implemented to estimate the amount of pollutant loads and to establish proper mitigation strategy to decrease the pollutant loads by the Ministry of Environment. To estimate the amount of pollutant loads with reasonable accuracy, securing landcover map with periodically updating is essential. However, in reality, due to the technical and financial difficulties, the landcover map has not been updated annually. Hence, this study mainly aims to suggest an effective GIS-based updating method in order to promote utilization of landcover map in the estimation of pollutant loads. Bupyeong-gu at the City of Incheon with the total area of $31.98km^2$ was chosen for this study and spatial data including digital topographic maps, ortho aerial photo, and satellite images were collected and utilized. A total of 7,235 feature entities were newly produced through the updating process of five steps and it was revealed that the classification of landcover with the total area of $3.34km^2$ was to be changed. The validity and feasibility of the suggested method were proved with the accuracy of 97.9% from the field verification. Further study needs to be made for devising more automated method to update landcover map to facilitate TMDL for individual local governments.
