In this paper, a classical plate model is utilized to formulate the wave propagation problem of magnetostrictive sandwich nanoplates (MSNPs) while subjected to hygrothermal loading with respect to the scale effects. Herein, magnetostriction effect is considered and controlled on the basis of a feedback control system. The nanoplate is supposed to be embedded on a visco-Pasternak substrate. The kinematic relations are derived based on the Kirchhoff plate theory; also, combining these obtained equations with Hamilton's principle, the local equations of motion are achieved. According to a nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT), the small scale influences are covered precisely by introducing two scale coefficients. Afterwards, the nonlocal governing equations can be derived coupling the local equations with those of the NSGT. Applying an analytical solution, the wave frequency and phase velocity of propagated waves can be gathered solving an eigenvalue problem. On the other hand, accuracy and efficiency of presented model is verified by setting a comparison between the obtained results with those of previous published researches. Effects of different variants are plotted in some figures and the highlights are discussed in detail.

Majority problem and synchronization problem on cellular automata(CA) are hard to solve, since they are global problems while CA operate on local information. This paper proposes a way to find state transition rules of these problems. The rules of CA are represented as CMR(conditionally matching rules) and evolutionary algorithms are applied to find rules. We find many solution rules to these problems, compared the results with the previous studies, and demonstrated the effectiveness of CMR on one-dimensional cellular automata.
The objective of seismic resilience is to maintain or rapidly restore the function of a building after an earthquake. An efficient tilt mechanism at the member level is crucial for the restoration of the main structure function; however, the damage resistance of the members should be the main focus. In this study, through a comparison with the classical Flamant theory of local loading in the elastic half-space, an elastomechanical solution for the axial-stress distribution of a reinforced-concrete (RC) rocking column was derived. Furthermore, assuming that the lateral displacement of the rocking column is determined by the contact surface rotation angle of the column end and bending and shear deformation of the column body, the load-lateral displacement mechanical model of the RC rocking column was established and validated through a comparison with finite-element simulation results. The axial-compression ratio and column-end strength were analyzed, and the results indicated that on the premise of column damage resistance, simply increasing the axial-compression ratio increases the lateral loading capacity of the column but is ineffective for improving the lateral-displacement capacity. The lateral loading and displacement of the column are significantly improved as the strength of the column end material increases. Therefore, it is feasible to improve the working performance of RC rocking columns via local reinforcement of the column end.
The possibility of energy harvesting as well as controlled vibration of a three-layered beam consisting of two piezoelectric layer and one core layer made of nonpiezoelectric material is investigated using paradox-free local/nonlocal theory. The three-layered nanobeam is resting on an elastic foundation and subjected to a blast load. Also, the core layer is made of Nano-composites reinforced by CNTs and carbon fibers (MHCD). Governing equations as well as boundary conditions are obtained using Hamilton,s principle. The equations discretized by Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM) and solved by Newmark beta method. In addition, two differential and integral gains are employed for controlling the forced vibration. The size-dependency of the elastic foundation is considered using two-phase elasticity. The effect of elastic foundation, control gains, nonlocal factor, as well as parameters affecting the core material on the forced vibration and energy harvesting is investigated in detail. The equations as well as solution procedure is validated utilizing some compassion studies. This work can be a basis for future studies on energy harvesting and controlled vibration in small scales.

In this paper, we consider the maximum scatter traveling salesman problem (MSTSP), a travelling salesman problem (TSP) variant. The problem aims to maximize the minimum length edge in a salesman's tour that travels each city only once in a network. It is a very complicated NP-hard problem, and hence, exact solutions can be found for small sized problems only. For large-sized problems, heuristic algorithms must be applied, and genetic algorithms (GAs) are found to be very successfully to deal with such problems. So, this paper develops a hybrid GA (HGA) for solving the problem. Our proposed HGA uses sequential sampling algorithm along with 2-opt search for initial population generation, sequential constructive crossover, adaptive mutation, randomly selected one of three local search approaches, and the partially mapped crossover along with swap mutation for perturbation procedure to find better quality solution to the MSTSP. Finally, the suggested HGA is compared with a state-of-art algorithm by solving some TSPLIB symmetric instances of many sizes. Our computational experience reveals that the suggested HGA is better. Further, we provide solutions to some asymmetric TSPLIB instances of many sizes.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a case of lipoma removed by surgical method. Methods : A 69-year-old female was diagnosed with lipoma on the left upper shoulder. Bufonis venenum pharmacopuncture was used for local anesthesia. The 11th blade and the CO2 laser was used for incision. After removal of lipoma, irrigation with soyeom pharmacopuncture solution and simple interrupted suture were carried out. For 7 days, Yeonkyopaedok-san was given and the suture was removed after 14 days. At last, saengkigo was applied. Results : Local anesthesia was maintained. Lipoma sized 3.0×1.0×1.0cm was clearly removed. Adverse effects were not reported until the clear skin adhesion. Conclusions : Lipoma were surgically removed without any complications by using pharmacopuncture and oral herbal medicines that have anti-inflammatory effects. Korean medicine has the potential for surgery and needs to extend the range of surgical treatment.

In this paper we deal with the problem of recovering 3-D motion and structure from a time-varying 2-D velocity vector field. A great deal has been done on this topic, most of which has concentrated on finding necessary and sufficient conditions for there to be a unique 3-D solution corresponding to a given 2-D motion. While previous work provides useful theoretical insight, in most situations the known algorithms have turned out to be too sensitive to be of much practical use. It appears that any robust algorithm must improve the 3-D solutions over time. As a step toward such algorithm, we present a method for recovering 3-D motion and structure from a given time-varying 2-D velocity vector field. The surface of the object in the scene is assumed to be locally planar. It is also assumed that 3-D velocity vectors are piecewise constant over three consecutive frames (or two snapshots of flow field). Our formulation relates 3-D motion and object geometry with the optical flow vector as well as its spatial and temporal derivatives. The linearization parameters, or equivalently, the first-order flow approximation (in space and time) is sufficient to recover rigid body motion and local surface structure from the local instantaneous flow field. We also demonstrate, through a sensitivity analysis carried out for synthetic and natural motions in space, that 3-D motion can be recovered reliably.

In order to estimate behavior of soil mass which is located straight up of reinforced concrete culvert, Ritz method and FEM were applied and arching effects between the soil mass and adjacent soil were considered for the analyses. Analysis results obtained from the Ritz method and finite element method were compared with analytical solution. In the case of estimating nodal forces considered in FEM, caution is needed that shear stress depending on depth from ground surface should be reflected regardless of local coordinate system. Comparing the displacements computed from Ritz method with those of the analytic solution, it is seen that as the power of assumed displacement function increases, differences between the computed displacements and those of analytic solution decreases. It seems that displacements of FEM becomes closer to those of analytical solution as the number of elements are increased. It is seen that stresses computed from the Ritz method don't get closer to those of the analytic solution as the power of assumed displacement function. Stresses from FEM become closer to those of analytic solution as the number of elements are increased. Comparing the analysis results from the Ritz method and FEM with those of analytic solution, it can be seen that FEM is more reliable than Ritz method.
In this paper, a parallel Optimal Best-First search Branch-and-Bound(B&B) algorithm(pobs) is designed and evaluated for MIN-based multiprocessor systems. The proposed algorithm decomposes a problem into G subproblems, where each subproblem is processed on a group of P processors. Each processor group uses tile sub-Global Best-First search technique to find a local solution. The local solutions are broadcasted through the network to compute the global solution. This broadcast provides not only the comparison of G local solutions but also the load balancing among the processor groups. A performance analysis is then conducted to estimate the speed-up of the proposed parallel B&B algorithm. The analytical model is developed based on the probabilistic properties of the B&B algorithm. It considers both the computation time and communication overheads to evaluate the realistic performance of the algorithm under the parallel processing environment. In order to validate the proposed evaluation model, the simulation of the parallel B&B algorithm on a MIN-based system is carried out at the same time. The results from both analysis and simulation match closely. It is also shown that the proposed Optimal Best-First search B&B algorithm performs better than other reported schemes with its various advantageous features such as: less subproblem evaluations, prefer load balancing, and limited scope of remote communication.

Purpose: For the reconstruction of maxillofacial defect created by trauma, infection, or tumor etc, the role of microvascular anastomosis or vessel graft has been increased. Many methods has been tried to increase the success rate of microvascular anastomosis. Various anticoagulants and thrombolytic agents have been used to reduce the failure rate of microvascular anastomosis and avoid re-operation. Many drugs, however, have been used in the limited cases because most of these drugs may cause complications, such as allergy, fever or systemic bleeding. This study was performed to evaluate the influence of the Argatroban on patency and thrombosis in microvascular anastomosis when it is used for local irrigation or general administration. Materials & methods: Eight mature rabbits, weighing 2kg, were used. After exposing both femoral veins, the artificial thrombotic model was made by crushing injury using a smooth needle holder, and the transverse incision were made on femoral vein. The animals were divided into 4 groups according to Argatroban administration methods; control group (n=4), topical irrigation of lumen with saline solution; experimental group 1 (n=4), topical irrigation of lumen with Argatroban saline solution; experimental group 2 (n=4), topical irrigation of lumen with heparin followed by intravenous injection of Argatroban; experimental group 3 (n=4), topical irrigation of lumen with Argatroban followed by IV of Argatroban. Microvascular anastomosis was done with 10-0 Ethilon. The patency was evaluated by empty-and-refill test 30 minutes and 3 days after microanastomosis. The thrombus formation was examined 3 days after microanastomosis by surgical microscope. The histologic findings were also examined. Results: 1. Thirty minutes after microvascular anastomosis, the patency of all experimental groups was better than that of control group, but there was no significant difference among groups. 2. Three days after microvascular anastomosis, the patency of all experimental groups was more improved than that of control group (p<0.05). There was no significant difference among experimental groups. 3. Three days after microvascular anastomosis, the amount of thrombus in all experimental groups was less than that of control group (p<0.05). There was no significant difference among experimental groups. 4. Histologically, a lot of luminal thrombus was observed around sutured area in control group. Few luminal thrombus was observed in all experimental groups. The necrotic changes were observed on the sutured vein wall in all specimens. Conclusion: These results indicate that topical irrigation and/or intravenous administration of Argatroban is effective in improving patency and preventing thrombus formation after microvascular anastomosis.
