  • GPS measurements from Feb. 2002 through Mar. 2004 were used to estimate recent crustal movement across the Lai Chau - Dien Bien fault system in North-West Vietnam. Four GPS campaign data were processed and combined with appropriate constraints using automatic GAMIT/GLOBK run in order to estimate ITRF2000 coordinates, local horizontal velocity and extensive/compressive strain rates. ITRF2000 velocities are consistent with east-southeastward movement of Sundaland i.e. Indochina. Local velocities show not much left-lateral strike-slip of the fault system and derived strain rates are insignificant from zero at $95\%$ confidence.

  • This paper presents an unoccluded cylindrical object pose measurement using a slit beam laser in which a robot recognizes all of the unoccluded objects from the top of jumbled objects, and picks them up one by one. The elliptical equation parameters of a projected curve edge on a slice are calculated using LSM. The coefficients of standard elliptical equation are compared with these parameters to estimate the object pose. The hamming distances between the estimated coordinates and the calculated ones are extracted as measures to evaluate a local constraint and a smoothing surface curvature. The edges between slices are linked using error function based on the edge types and the hamming distances. The linked edges on slices are compared with the model object's length to recognize the unoccluded object. This proposed method may provide a solution to the automation of part handling in manufacturing environments such as punch press operation or part assembly.

  • The coordinate transformation both WGS84 and Bessel ellipsoids is essential to use of GPS in South Korea. Especially, for transformation considered the needed accuracy and the regional characteristics, the study about geoid modeling and the characteristics on the transformed area should be done. The aim of this study define the characteristics of the transformed coordinates according to transformation methods and the area measured by GPS. For this, large network that include South Korea, four regional network consist of large network, and local net-work include Incheon city designed. Geoid model based on Bessel suitable to South Korea selected from study about the effects of the assumed geoid height at the geodetic origin, and then coefficients computed according as transformed area and methods. Also, the transformed characteristics of the large coefficients, the regional coefficients, and the local coefficients according to methods compared, analyzed synthetically.

  • The combined bundle block adjustment with projection center coordinates determined by kinematic DGPS-positioning has reached a high level of accuracy. Standard deviations of the ground coordinates of $\pm{10cm}$ or even better can be reached. On this accuracy level also smaller error components are becoming more important. One major point of this is the interpolation of the projection centers as a function of time between the GPS-antenna locations. A just linear interpolation is not respecting the not linear movement of the aircraft. Based on a least squares polynomial fitting the aircraft maneuver can be estimated more accurate and blunders of the GPS-positions caused by loss of satellite and cycle slips are determinable. The interpolation with a time interval of 3sec in the study area RHEINKAMP is quite different to the interpolation with a time interval of 6-7sec in the study area MAAS. The GPS-positions of the study area are identified as blunders based on a local polynomial regression. This cannot be neglected for precise block adjustment.

  • The need of transformation parameters from local geodetic datums to a geocentric coordinate system is becoming more common, with the increasing application of satellite positioning techniques to LIS/GIS survey with cadastral management. In this paper, the national transformation parameters between the Korean geodetic coordinates which is based on the Bessel 1841 ellipsoid and the WGS84 ellipsoid are determined by the least square methods with weighted parameter constraints. Three-dimensional geocentric coordinates are based on GPS observation at 31 stations in the geodetic network, the datum parameters are computed within a standard deviation of less than 1 meter. In South Korea, the national transformation parameters with Bessel geoid-heights are useful for GPS baseline processing and for middle-scale map/database transformation.

  • In this paper, the location measurement method for the reliable location data using ultrasonic sensors is proposed for the dimming control of the LED flat lamp. The measurement errors depending on the reflection angle of the object have to be considered to obtain the reliable location data in the ultrasonic sensors. In the experiment, the cause of the measurement errors depending on reflection angle is analyzed and velocity change of ultrasonic wave depending on reflection angle is measured. And the location measurement method depending on velocity change of ultrasonic wave is proposed. From the results, the average absolute deviation of the x-coordinates was 1.47cm when the location measurement method was considered, and it was closer to the true values than the average absolute deviation of the x-coordinates which was 5.89cm without regard to the reflection angle.

  • In the current era of digital technology, and with the help of existing software, digital photo manipulation is becoming easier and faster. One example of this is the development of powerful image processing software that makes it easy for a digital image to be manipulated and edited. It is therefore very important to protect and maintain public trust in digital images. Several methods have been developed to detect image manipulation. In this paper, we compare two methods for detecting image duplication due to copy-move actions, namely the polar coordinate system and the histogram of oriented gradients methods. The former is a method based on the transfer of a Cartesian image to a polar form, making it easy to tell whether there are objects that have undergone a copy/move in an image, while the latter is a method for retrieving information related to the distribution, which uses a target in the local area as a tool to represent the shape of the target. We compare the accuracy, speed and memory usage of these two methods.

  • The distribution of tags is an important factor that affects the performance of radio-frequency identification (RFID). To study RFID performance, it is necessary to obtain RFID tags' coordinates. However, the positioning method of RFID technology has large errors, and is easily affected by the environment. Therefore, a new method using optical measurement is proposed to achieve RFID performance analysis. First, due to the possibility of blurring during image acquisition, the paper derives a new image prior to removing blurring. A nonlocal means-based method for image deconvolution is proposed. Experimental results show that the PSNR and SSIM indicators of our algorithm are better than those of a learning deep convolutional neural network and fast total variation. Second, an RFID dynamic testing system based on photoelectric sensing technology is designed. The reading distance of RFID and the three-dimensional coordinates of the tags are obtained. Finally, deep learning is used to model the RFID reading distance and tag distribution. The error is 3.02%, which is better than other algorithms such as a particle-swarm optimization back-propagation neural network, an extreme learning machine, and a deep neural network. The paper proposes the use of optical methods to measure and collect RFID data, and to analyze and predict RFID performance. This provides a new method for testing RFID performance.

  • More than 70 percent of terrestrial territory of Korea is mountainous areas where degradation becomes serious year by year due to illegal tombs, expanding golf courses and stone mine development. We elaborate the potential usage of high resolution image for the monitoring of the phenomena. We made the classification of tombs and the statistical radiometric characteristics of graves were identified from this project. The graves could be classified to 4 groups from the field survey. As compared with grouping data after clustering and discriminant analysis, the two results coincided with each other. Object-oriented classification algorithm for feature extraction was theoretically researched in this project. And we did a pilot project, which was performed with mixed methods. That is, the conventional methods such as unsupervised and supervised classification were mixed up with the new method for feature extraction, object-oriented classification method. This methodology showed about $60\%$ classification accuracy for extracting tombs from satellite imagery. The extraction of tombs' geographical coordinates and graves themselves from satellite image was performed in this project. The stone mines and golf courses are extracted by NDVI and GVI. The accuracy of classification was around 89 percent. The location accuracy showed extraction of tombs from one-meter resolution image is cheaper and quicker way than GPS method. Finally we interviewed local government officers and made analyses on the current situation of mountainous area management and potential usage of KOMPSAT-II images. Based on the requirement analysis, we developed software, which is to management and monitoring system for mountainous area for local government.
