  • For local advertising based on D2D communications, sources want advertisement messages to be diffused to unspecified users as many as possible. It is one of challenging issues to select target-areas for advertising if users are uniformly distributed. In this paper, we propose D2D based advertisement dissemination algorithm using user clustering with expectation-maximization. The user distribution of each cluster can be estimated by principal components (PCs) obtained from each cluster. That is, PCs enable the target-areas and routing paths to be properly determined according to the user distribution. Consequently, advertisement messages are able to be disseminated to many users. We evaluate performances of our proposed algorithm with respect to coverage probability and average reception number per user.

After 1995, when local autonomous entity system was established, the local autonomous bodies competed with one another in developing the regional society with its' own resources, human powers & cultures, independently of the central government. In the competitive system, a local government is getting itself distinguished from each other in the cultural & regional properties, and brands the region with its unique events, public relations(PR) & development strategies. The environment for advertisement has changed rapidly under the spontaneous system of regional brand and competition, which means the changes of creative standard in the field of advertisement. Local readers are divided into three groups national newspaper reader, local newspaper reader, and national & local newspaper reader. A nationwide telephone survey was conducted in june, 2004 and gathered 2,063 cases. News subject and advertising appeared to play less important role in distinguishing among the three group examined. The most powerful discriminating variables were residence area and period of residence area. Education, interest of capital city news, job were found to be moderately important variables on Function 1, which distinguished between local newspaper reader and national & local newspaper reader. Generally, local newspaper reader showed higher interest on capital area news and lower interest on metropolitan area news. However, the result of a discriminant analysis indicated local newspaper reader was distinguished from national newspaper reader in terms of higher interest of metropolitan area news. Simultaneously, local newspaper reader was distinguished from national & local newspaper in terms of lower interest of capital area news.

  • The objective of this study was to examine Jeonju residents' recognition towards their native local foods. The results indicate that their degree of interest in the native foods was above average. As age and education increased, the degree of interest was also increased. Also, married people showed greater interest as compared to single people (p<$0.05{\sim}0.001$). There were more people who said they preferred native foods than people who said they didn't, where 213 people (41.3%) answered that they preferred the native foods. Of the people who said they like native foods, their main reason was because the native foods taste good. The main reason for the people who said they disliked native foods was that they didn't have many opportunities to try native foods. TV and radio were the first means, among others, from which people learned about native foods. The place where people ate native foods most often was native food restaurants (242 people, 46.95%). A frequency of a native food intake (including home and dining-out) of $1{\sim}2$ times/year was most prominent, with 137 people (26.6%). Also, a cooking frequency of "hardly ever cooks" was most prominent with 163 people (31.6%). The most prominent reason for the low cooking frequency at home was because they didn't know the recipes. Among 5 basic recipe characteristics for native foods (easy preparation of ingredients, simple recipe procedures, quick preparation, reasonable recipe procedures, sanitation), "sanitation" had the highest average score of 3.54, and "simple recipe procedure" had the lowest score of 2.44. To summarize, in order to develop Jeonju native local foods, it is necessary to implement various strategies such as frequently holding events where people can experience their native foods, running a native food training center, advertising through TV and radio, developing easy home recipes, and simplifying recipes.

  • The present study extends Alden et al.'s (Alden, Steenkamp, and Batra 1999) study of cultural brand positioning through advertising, in which global cultural positioning is distinguished from foreign cultural positioning and local cultural positioning. The present study explores differences in the brand personality between global cultural positioning ads and local cultural positioning ads and investigates the effect of each type of cultural positioning strategy on the brand attitude. A content analysis was conducted for the Chinese print advertisements of Korean brands in order to examine the brand personalities developed by each type of cultural positioning strategy. Substantial differences in the brand personality were not found between the cultural positioning strategies. An experiment was conducted using Chinese consumers in order to test the effect of the cultural positioning strategy on the brand attitude. The global cultural positioning was found to be more effective than the local cultural positioning in general, and the Korean cultural positioning was found to be more effective than the local cultural positioning only for the younger consumers.

  • This study was conducted to investigate whether attitudes and recognitions of middle and high school students regarding environmental concerns were improved after anuran call monitoring. It was a step toward monitoring local environmental changes with anuran calls. Three-striped pond frogs (Rana nigromaculata), Bullfrogs (R. catesbeiana), and Narrow-mouthed toads (Kaloula borealis) were surveyed to determine local abundance and distribution of them in 12 study sites using their advertising calls. A published booklet, which contains morphological, physiological, ecological, and acoustic information on amphibian species and methods of monitoring anuran calls were provided to monitoring students for identifying the three species. Pretest-posttest were conducted before and after monitoring from 10 April to 28 August in 2005 to determine how the monitoring students changed their attitudes on environmental issues, increased knowledges on amphibians, and improved the understanding on the cause and effect of declining amphibian populations. The amphibian monitoring program was effective to improve the students' attitudes towards conserving environments as well as the students' knowledge on general behavior and ecology of various amphibian species although their understanding about various environmental problems was not. In addition, the program increased the students' understanding on the problems of declining amphibian populations.
