In this study, the full scale model tests were performed with track-roadbed system such as Ho-nam high speed railway. The measured data gives good similar a roadbed pressure with equivalent depth to the Odemark's theory. In the case of earth pressures have a under 50 kPa at upper-subgrade applying 330 kN static loading. Results of cyclic loading tests did not differ significantly from those of static loading test. The elastic displacement at HSB layer has a level of 1/100 compared to the 1 mm that it was evaluation criteria for speed up of High Speed Railway. Elastic displacement at subgrade layer was measured a level of 1/175. The dynamic characteristics of track-roadbed with loading frequency level were linearly increased under 35 Hz, while the wheel loading, displacement and acceleration of roadbed were decreased loading frequency above 35 Hz.
This paper presents an experimental study of three two-dimensional (2D/planar) steel reinforced concrete (SRC) T-shaped column-RC beam hybrid joints and six 3D SRC T-shaped column-steel beam hybrid joints under low cyclic reversed loads. Considering different categories of steel configuration types in column cross section and horizontal loading angles for the specimens were selected, and a reliable structural testing system for the spatial loading was employed in the tests. The load-displacement curves, carrying capacity, energy dissipation capacity, ductility and deformation characteristics of the test subassemblies were analyzed. Especially, the seismic performance discrepancies between planar hybrid joints and 3D hybrid joints were intensively compared. The failure modes for planar loading and spatial loading observed in the tests showed that the shear-diagonal compressive failure was the dominating failure mode for all the specimens. In addition, the 3D hybrid joints illustrated plumper hysteretic loops for the columns configured with solid-web steel, but a little more pinched hysteretic loops for the columns configured with T-shaped steel or channel-shaped steel, better energy dissipation capacity & ductility, and larger interlayer deformation capacity than those of the planar hybrid joints. Furthermore, it was revealed that the hysteretic loops for the specimens under $45^{\circ}$ loading angle are generally plumper than those for the specimens under $30^{\circ}$ loading angle. Finally, the effects of steel configuration type and loading angle on the seismic damage for the specimens were analyzed by means of the Park-Ang model.
Many laboratory experiments on crack propagation under uniaxial loading and biaxial loading have been conducted in the past using transparent materials such as resin, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), etc. However, propagation behaviors of three-dimensional (3D) cracks in rock or rock-like materials under tri-axial loading are often considerably different. In this study, a series of true tri-axial loading tests on the rock-like material with two semi-ellipse pre-existing cracks were performed in laboratory to investigate the acoustic emission (AE) characteristics and propagation characteristics of 3D crack groups influenced by intermediate principal stress. Compared with previous experiments under uniaxial loading and biaxial loading, the tests under true tri-axial loading showed that shear cracks, anti-wing cracks and secondary cracks were the main failure mechanisms, and the initiation and propagation of tensile cracks were limited. Shear cracks propagated in the direction parallel to pre-existing crack plane. With the increase of intermediate principal stress, the critical stress of crack initiation increased gradually, and secondary shear cracks may no longer coalesce in the rock bridge. Crack aperture decreased with the increase of intermediate principal stress, and the failure is dominated by shear fracturing. There are two stages of fracture development: stable propagation stage and unstable failure stage. The AE events occurred in a zone parallel to pre-existing crack plane, and the AE zone increased gradually with the increase of intermediate principal stress, eventually forming obvious shear rupture planes. This shows that shear cracks initiated and propagated in the pre-existing crack direction, forming a shear rupture plane inside the specimens. The paths of fracturing inside the specimens were observed using the Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning and reconstruction.
Recently, concrete slab track is mostly used to satisfy requirements for safety of high-speed train operation and economical efficiency of maintenance. Due to structural characteristics of ballast track structures, roadbeds under the ballast experience a state of high stress. In case of slab track structures, however, its roadbeds place on a condition of low stress less than roadbeds of ballast track structures as increasing of the loading area. In this study, vertical earth pressure under slab track structures was investigated through real-scale loading tests and theoretical analysis to compare with each other.

A few blast experiments are conducted to investigate the behavior of one-way reinforced concrete(RC) slabs under blast loading. Reflected blast characteristics as well as displacements and damage patterns of RC slabs are measured. Numerical models are also established in the software ANSYS AUTODYN to reproduce the experiments on RC slabs. The numerical models are distinguished from each other by different boundary conditions at the edges of RC slabs, which are assumed to reproduce displacements and damage patterns resulted from the experiments. The boundary condition of the experimental tests is estimated from the numerical simulation results. From the numerical simulation results, the boundary condition should be improved in order to measure the accurate maximum displacement in the experimental tests.

The effect of loading speed on soil failure was studied by using a high speed triaxial compression test. Tests were conducted at 0.35-6.2m/s loading speed to compress soil specimens of sandy loam at different moisture contents. The axial stress at fracture increased with increase in loading speed up to certain critical speeds, however they decreased as the speed up to certain critical speeds, however they decreased as the speed increased further. Experiments were also conducted in the field of sandy loam soil with the vibrating tillage tool. Tests were done at 0.33-0.85m/s tractor speed oscillating frequency 13.7hz and oscillating amplitude 59mm. The maximum oscillating velocity of tillage tool was 2.5m/s. It was observed that for the oscillating operation, initially draft slightly increased with increase in forward speed and then it decreased .For the non-oscillating operation, draft increased continuously with increase in forward speed. Approach of studying soil failure in the laboratory test can be related to the field experiments.

In this study, it was experimentally investigated the effectiveness of repair and strengthening methods for RC beams deteriorated under severs enviromental conditions. Polymer cement were employed to restore the sectional loss and aramid fiber-reinforced sheet was used to reinforce the surface subject to tension. Repaired and strengthened reinforced-concrete samples were subjected to loading tests. The tests revealed that the sectional restoration enhanced the loading capability of the sample structures. Additional strengthening with one aramid fiber-reinforced sheet improved 18% of yielding load and 30% of ultimate load of the structure. Reinforcing with two aramid fiber-reinforced sheets brought about an enhancement of 22% of yielding loading and 49% of ultimate load.

Dynamic pile loading test using PDA was introduced in 1994. Because of its economy and relatively easy and simple procedure, the number of PDA application increased quite rapidly. It is assumed that more than 10,000 dynamic pile loading tests are done annually. While the number of testing increases sharply, the quality of the tests does not really improve but the number of serious problems due to improper testing increases. According to the limited experiences of the authors, the common problems found in most of the cases are caused by ignorance of the most basic and fundamental requirements. In this paper some case histories are explained and the proposed solution is introduced.

The weight reduction of carbody stl1lctures is of great concern in developing high speed tilting train for the normal operation of tilting system. The use of composite materials for the carbody structures has many advantages due to their excellent material propel1ies. In this paper, finite element analysis was conducted to verify the safety of the composite structures of Tilting Train eXpress(TTX). A train prototype with carbon/epoxy composite carbody was manufactured to perform static loading tests according to JIS E 7105. The loading tests were simulated by FE analysis to compare with the test results. To obtain more accurate and detailed result of stress distribution in local region of carbody, the submodeling approach was used. The submodeling analysis results showed the high levels of stress concentration occured on window frame part of TTX as the loading test results did.
In this study, retardation behavior of fatigue crack under single overloading of the mixed mode I+II state was experimentally investigated. To produce single overload in the mixed mode I+II state, the compact tension shear (CTS) specimen and loading device were used. The propagation tests for fatigue crack were performed under mode I loading overloading afterwards. We examined the observed deformation aspects, variation of fatigue life and crack propagation rate, and the aspects of retardation behavior from tests. The retardation effect of mixed-mode single overload on fatigue crack propagation behavior was smaller than that of mode I single overload. It has been confirmed that the retardation behavior did not immediately appear and the retardation length was short when the component of mixed-mode overload was changed.
