In this study, the risk of heat generation due to normal and overload currents that vary with the abnormal loosening angle of wire-connecting bolts were identified. The risks were analyzed based on the thermal characteristics to minimize the carbonization accidents of terminal blocks inside distribution panels typically used in industrial sites. We applied a method for measuring the heating temperature and temperature variations in the terminal blocks in real-time by installing a resistance temperature detector sensor board in the terminal block. The experimental results showed that the terminal block model with a low-rated current exhibited a higher heating temperature, thus, confirming the need to select the terminal block capacity based on load currents. Additionally, the higher the rated current of the terminal block with a high-rated current and the higher the degree of loosening, the faster the carbonization point. Such heating temperature monitoring enabled real-time thermal temperature measurement and a step-by-step risk level setting through thermal analysis. The results of the measurement and analysis of carbonization risks can provide a theoretical basis for further research regarding the risk of fire due to carbonization. Furthermore, the deterioration measurement method using the temperature sensor board developed in this study is widely applicable to prevent fires caused by poor electrical contact as well as risk-level management.

A variation of temperature acting on a RC roof slab causes a change of stress in concrete since it expands during summer and is compressed during winter. This behavior repeats annually and makes an affection to the structural capacity of member for both serviceability and ultimate level. In this paper, a cyclic temperature loading variation is calculated by analyzing the weather data of Korea for 20 years. In addition, an experimental work is planned to find the long term effect of temperature variation. Six RC slab are made with same dimension. Test parameters are loading duration (10, 20, 30 year) and whether it has pre-damage or not. Observation of stiffness variations according to cyclic loading period shows that the serious stiffness drop happens after 10 year's cyclic loading at summer while after 30 year's loading at winter. From the fracture test about slabs damaged by long term cyclic loading, however, the capacity of member such as initial stiffness and maximum strength were not changed except yield strength according to the period of long term cyclic loading. The yield strength tends to decrease after 20 year's cyclic loading.

Safe operation and maintenance of engineered dry storage systems for spent fuel from nuclear power plants basically depends on adequately adopted design requirements. The most important design target of the system are those which provide the necessary assurances that spent fuel can be received, handled, stored and retrieved without undue risk to health and safety of workers and the public. To achieve these objectives, the design of the system incorporates features to remove spent fuel residual heat, to provide for radiation protection, and to maintain containment over the lifespan of the system as specified in the design specifications. The features also provide for all possible anticipated operational occurrences and design basis events in accordance with the design basis as guided by the designated regulations. The general performance requirements of a projected storage system are introduced in this paper. The storage system is designed to store fuel assemblies in associated with designated regulatory requirements. Small increases/decreases in maximum burnup can be adjusted with cooling time. These variations are compensated for by a corresponding small site-specific increase/decrease in the design basis-cooling period, as long as the maximum heat load and radioactivity of loaded fuel assemblies are met. Generic design basis events considered for the storage system are summarized. Shielding and radiological requirements along with mechanical and structural are derived in this study.

Abstract The typical distribution systems have the power flow from distribution substations (sources) to customers (load) only as one direction. However, in the case where distributed generations (DG) such as PV system and wind power systems are connected to distribution systems, the DG output variations to distribution systems, so called reverse power flow, may cause the bi-directional power flow. So, the reverse power flow has severe impacts on typical power system, for example power quality problems, protection coordination problems, and so on. Especially, protection devices (sectionalizer) in primary feeder of distribution system interconnected with distributed generations may cause problems of malfunction, and then many customers could have problems like an interruption. So, this paper presents the bi-directional operation algorithm of protection devices to overcome the problems like mal-function. And, also this paper shows the effectiveness of proposed method by using both PSCAD/EMTDC software and test facility of protection devices to simulate the field distribution systems.

Laguna Lake is the largest inland fresh water body in the Philippines. It primarily serves as a site for aquaculture, hydropower, transportation, and water supply industries. Due to Laguna Lake's diverse functionalities, competition among water users became prominent. Water quality began to deteriorate due to various pollutant contributions in this process, thereby affecting the soundness of the aquatic ecosystem. This study was conducted to evaluate the current water quality management policy from the viewpoint of ecological environment through the evaluation of the water quality of Laguna Lake. Concentrations of water pollutants such as ammonia ($NH_3$), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chloride ($Cl^-$), pH, and total suspended solids (TSS) exceeded the water quality standards of the Philippines' Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The water quality of the lake was also affected by the pollutant load due to agriculture and urban stormwater runoff in the watershed. The salinity and contaminated water from Pasig River also affected the water quality of Laguna Lake. Long-term water quality analysis showed that the water quality of Laguna Lake is also influenced by rainfall-related seasonal variations. The results of the water quality analysis of Laguna Lake indicated that the environmental management techniques of the Philippines should be changed from the conventional water management into an integrated watershed management scheme in the future. It is therefore necessary to study and introduce advanced watershed management measures in the Philippines based from the policies of other developed countries.

Maneuvering performance is crucial for fishing vessels, especially under operational conditions that involve frequent course changes and weight variations due to catch. Small vessel accidents account for approximately 60% of maritime incidents as of 2022, mainly attributed to collisions and stranding accidents due to insufficient maneuvering performance. Especially, accidents that occur on small vessels less than 10 tons account for about 65% of all accidents. The absence of international standards presents challenges in accurately evaluating the maneuvering performance of small vessels. In this study, a 4.99-ton small fishing vessel was selected as the target, and a 3d-cad model was created. The commercial numerical analysis program STAR-CCM+ was employed to establish a simulation environment for the vessel's maneuvring motion. Based on this standard loading conditions and weight distribution were considered, 10° / 10°, 20° / 20° zigzag tests and 35° turning test were conducted. The results revealed a tendency for decreased yaw and course-keeping performance and improved turning performance as the hull weight increased. However, in partial arrival and full load departure condition, the manoeuvering performance were relatively poor. Based on this, the need for evaluation of maneuvering and standardized criteria of maneuvering performance for safe navigation of small vessels is presented. Furthermore, it is expected that the evaluation results of maneuvering performance in this study can serve as fundamental data for establishing criteria for evaluating the maneuvering performance of small vessels.

We estimated the pollutant loads for the last 3 years based on the daily discharge at the Nakdong River dam(barrage) and spatiotemporal characteristics of seawater quality in the Nakdong river estuary to investigate the correlation between the pollutant load inflow rate and seawater quality. The main results from this research are summarized as follows. (1) The total discharge at the Nakdong River dam dam the last 11 years has been $224,576.8{\times}10^6m^3/day$. The discharge figures show that the maximum discharge occurs in August with $52,634.2{\times}10^6 m^3/day$ (23.4% of the year's volume), followed by July and Sep. in that order with 23.1 and 17%, respectively. (2) The pollutant load influx from the Nakdong River dam was composed of 307,591.3COD-kg/day, 128.746.1 TN-kg/day, and 107,625.8 TP-kg/day. (3) The surface temperature in the Nakdong River estuary was about $2.137^{\circ}C$ higher than that of the lower layer. The salinity of the lower layer was 2.209%o higher than that of the ocean surface. The salinity of the ocean surface decreased by up to 19.593%o due to the inflow of the discharge at the Nakdong River dam. (4) DO, COD, TN, and SS concentration levels tended to be higher at the ocean surface than in lower layers, whereas the reverse was true for TP. (5) The water mass at the ocean's surface and in the lower layers during the drought and flood seasons tended to be separated by the difference in densities due to the freshwater inflow.

The purpose of this study was assessment the quality of water by using the statistical analysis technique of the Water flow and water quality from January 2012 to December 2016 at the unit basin for total pollutant load management system (TPLMS) in the Imjin River. Water flow and water quality were monitored at an average of 8 day intervals, 11 parameters were used for correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), factor analysis (FA), and cluster analysis (CA). The Hierarchical CA was classified into three according to the change of space, such as natural rivers, urban rivers, point with large influence of point pollution source, it was found that the type of contamination source the similarity of water quality affected the classification of cluster. Using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post-hoc Analysis, there were statistically significant differences between mean values among the clusters. Correlation analysis showed the correlation coefficient between $COD_{Mn}$ and TOC was 0.951 (p<0.01) and the correlation was statistically significantly higher. According to the result PCA and FA, 3 principal components can explaining 72% of the total variations in water quality characteristics and main factor was EC, $BOD_5$, $COD_{Mn}$, TN, TP and TOC indirect indicators of organic matter and nutrients were influenced. This study presented the regression equation obtained by applying the factor scores to the multiple linear regression analysis and concluded that the management Indirect indicators of organic matter and nutrients is important for water quality management in the Imjin River basin.
The objectives of this study were to construct a three-dimensional (3D) hydrodynamic and water quality model (EFDC) for the river reach between the Daecheong dam and the Sejong weir, which are directly affected by Gap and Miho streams located in the middle of the Geum River, and to evaluate the trophic status and water quality improvement effect according to the flow control and pollutant load reduction scenarios. The EFDC model was calibrated with the field data including waterlevel, temperature and water quality collected from September, 2012 to April, 2013. The model showed a good agreement with the field data and adequately replicated the spatial and temporal variations of water surface elevation, temperature and water quality. Especially, it was confirmed that spatial distributions of nutrients and algae biomass have wide variation of transverse direction. Also, from the analysis of algal growth limiting factor, it was found that phosphorous loadings from Gap and Miho streams to Sejong weir induce eutrophication and algal bloom. The scenario of pollutant load reduction from Gap and Miho streams showed a significant effect on the improvement of water quality; 4.7~18.2% for Chl-a, 5.4~21.9% for TP at Cheongwon-1 site, and 4.2~ 17.3% for Chl-a and 4.7~19.4% for TP at Yeongi site. In addition, the eutrophication index value, identifying the tropic status of the river, was improved. Meanwhile, flow control of Daecheong Dam and Sejong weir showed little effect on the improvement of water quality; 1.5~2.4% for Chl-a, 2.5~ 3.8% for TP at Cheongwon-1 site, and 1.2~2.1% for Chl-a and 0.9~1.5% for TP at Yeongi site. Therefore, improvement of the water quality in Gap and Miho streams is essential and a prerequirement to meet the target water quality level of the study area.

There exist various types of the WEC (Wave Energy Converter), and among them, the point absorber is the most popularly investigated type. However, it is difficult to find examples of systematically measured data analysis for the design of the point absorber type of power buoy in the world. The study investigates the wave load acting on the point absorber type resonance power buoy wave energy extraction system proposed by Kweon et al. (2010). This study analyzes the time series spectra with respect to the three-year wave data (2002.05.01~2005.03.29) measured using the pressure type wave gage at the seaside of north breakwater of Hupo harbor located in the east coast of the Korean peninsula. From the analysis results, it could be deduced that monthly wave period and wave height variations were apparent and that monthly wave powers were unevenly distributed annually. The average wave steepness of the usual wave was 0.01, lower than that of the wind wave range of 0.02-0.04. The mode of the average wave period has the value of 5.31 sec, while mode of the wave height of the applicable period has the value of 0.29 m. The occurrence probability of the peak period is a bi-modal type, with a mode value between 4.47 sec and 6.78 sec. The design wave period can be selected from the above four values of 0.01, 5.31, 4.47, 6.78. About 95% of measured wave heights are below 1 m. Through this study, it was found that a resonance power buoy system is necessary in coastal areas with low wave energy and that the optimal design for overcoming the uneven monthly distribution of wave power is a major task in the development of a WEF (Wave Energy Farm). Finding it impossible to express the average spectrum of the usual wave in terms of the standard spectrum equation, this study proposes a new spectrum equation with three parameters, with which basic data for the prediction of the power production using wave power buoy and the fatigue analysis of the system can be given.
