금강수계 1단계 수질오염총량관리제의 목표수질 및 할당부하량 달성도 평가 (Evaluation of Water Quality Goal and Load Allocation Achievement Ratio in Guem River Total Maximum Daily Loads for the 1st Phase)

  • It is necessary to evaluate performances hitherto carried out in the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) and to set up direction so that this system can be improved continuously in the future. This study was investigated load allocation achievement ratio, water quality goal achievement ratio and interrelation between water quality goal and load allocation for the first period (2004~2010). Load allocation achievement and BOD water quality goal achievement ratio were 50% and 73% in Guem River Basin, respectively. The main reason for excess of load allocation and shortfall of water quality goal were unfulfilled reduction plan and pollution sources increment. Therefore, it is necessary to develop enhanced pollution sources prediction method and make a list realizable reduction plan. 63% of the unit watershed was not interrelation between water quality goal and load allocation. The reason why water quality goal and load allocation had not correlation were water quality of upper unit watershed, increment of inflow quantity, effluent water quality of wastewater treatment plant affected the unit watershed, increment of inner productivity by algae, water quality deterioration during the specific period, river management flow, etc.

통신 네트워크 기반의 맥동 부하용 SPMS에 관한 연구 (Research on SPMS for Pulsating Load based on Communication Network)

  • CN(Communication Network)기반의 선박 전력관리 시스템은 선박의 안정적인 항해를 위한 가장 중요한 필수요소이다. 따라서 대부분의 선박은 안전을 목적으로 맥동 부하에 대응하기 위해 필요 용량보다 더 큰 용량의 발전기를 설치한다. 하지만 이러한 비교적 큰 용량의 발전기는 낮은 전력부하에서 발전기의 저부하 손실과 효율을 감소시키는 단점을 지니고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 선박의 맥동부하를 방지하기 위한 보조전력을 적용한 하이브리드형 전력시스템을 제안하며, 전력시스템 설계를 위해 실 선박의 운항 데이터를 바탕으로 NI사의 LabVIEW를 이용하여 시뮬레이션을 진행하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 안전항해를 위한 보조전력시스템과 연계한 하이브리드형 전력시스템의 적용방안을 제안한다.

  • The complex documentation involved in power system analysis software require a well-defined and friendly database system. We have developed an object-oriented database management system for power system analysis, and have described load flow analysis and transient stability analysis using object-oriented database(OODB). Database management systems are widely used and achieve high reliability of data management in the engineering fields. However relational database system have shortcomings in application to power system analysis. ill relational database, the data model is too simple for modeling complex data and database languages are very different from programming languages. Object-oriented techniques are sufficiently powerful to support data-modeling requirements of GUI applications. The GUI is implemented using C++ on a MS windows platform. The OODB supports data modeling requirements of GUI applications and the performance is well acceptable for Gill applications.

  • Recently, environmental regulations have been strengthened for SOX, NOX, and CO2, which are ship exhaust gases. In addition, according to the 4th Industrial Revolution, research on autonomous ship technology has become active and interest in electric propulsion systems is increasing. This paper analyzes the power load characteristics of an electric propulsion ship, which is the basic technology for an autonomous ship, in terms of energy management. For the load analysis, data were collected for a 6,800 TEU container ship with a mechanical propulsion system, and the propulsion load was converted to an electric power load and clustered according to the characteristics using a SOM (Self-Organizing Map). As a result of the load analysis, it was confirmed that the load characteristics of the ship could be explained by the operation mode of the ship.

  • This study is aimed to develop a system to position and manage object flow in real time. Logistics management system which position objects and vans using GPS is required to load, unload and keep freight effectively and in real time at sea or airport. In this study, a management system which is consisted of five sub-systems is developed; GPS position analysis system, GPS interface system, mapping system, network system and database management system.

  • This study modifies the present total maximum daily load (TMDL) system of Ministry of Environment and applies to the Anyangcheon watershed. Hydrologic Simulation Program-FORTRAN (HSPF) model is used to simulate both runoff and non-point source pollution, simultaneously, instead of QUAL2E. The drought flow (355th daily flow) is proposed for the target water quantity since it is easier to satisfy low flow (275th daily flow) for the target water quality than drought flow. The increase of discharge is more than the increase of pollutant load except for the period under low flow. The measured unit loads for non-point source are used to consider the regional runoff characteristics. The measured water quantity and quality data are used since the ministry of environment supports only water quality. This analysis results show some reasons for the improvement of the present TMDL system of Korea.

  • Congestion management is one of the most challenging tasks of a system operator to ensure the operation of transmission system within operating limits. In this paper, cluster/zone method and relative electrical distance (RED) method for congestion management are compared based on the considered parameters. In the cluster/zone method, rescheduling of generation is based on user impact on congestion through the use of transmission congestion distribution factors. In the RED method, the desired proportions of generations for the desired overload relieving are obtained. Even after generation rescheduling, if congestion exists, load curtailment option is also introduced. Rescheduling cost, system cost, losses, and voltage stability parameter are also calculated and compared for the above two methods of congestion management. The results are illustrated on sample 6-bus, IEEE 30-bus, and Indian utility 69-bus systems.

  • Electric utilities may face new threats with increase in electric vehicles (EVs) in the personal automobile market. The peak demand will increase which may stress the distribution network equipment. The focus of this paper is on an adaptive control of smart household appliances by using an intelligent load management system (ILMS). The main objectives are to accomplish consumer needs and prevent overloading of power grid. The stress from the network is released by limiting the peak demand of a house when it exceeds a certain point. In the proposed strategy, for each smart appliance, the customers will set its order/rank according to their own preferences and then system will control the household loads intelligently for consumer reliability. The load order can be changed at any time by the customer. The difference between the set and actual value for each load's specific parameter will help the utility to estimate the acceptance of this intelligent load management system by the customers.

  • Very short-term electric load forecasting is essential for real-time power system operation. In this paper, a very short-term electric load forecasting technique applying the Kalman filter algorithm is proposed. In order to apply the Kalman filter algorithm to electric load forecasting, an electrical load forecasting algorithm is defined as an observation model and a state space model in a time domain. In addition, in order to precisely reflect the noise characteristics of the Kalman filter algorithm, the optimal error covariance matrixes Q and R are selected from several experiments. The proposed algorithm is expected to contribute to stable real-time power system operation by providing a precise electric load forecasting result in the next six hours.

  • The recent rapid growth of air conditioning load has become a major reason of peak load increase in summer. In connection with this, we surveyed the load management projects of utilities world-wide and their detailed activities. This study is to develop a remote load control system using computer and radio communications. We finished the field-test of this system on August 1995 in Seoul area. During the field-test, the remote load control of air conditioners was proved to be well-timed. Two control modes, group control and all control, are available for the user to select. The transmission reliability of the load control signal was very good and the functions of system hardware as well as the software were excellent. So we confirmed the applicability of the load control system including the paper communication network. In this paper, detailed information on the system functions and experimental results are described.
