A load composition rate estimation algorithm is developed for DSM evaluation system. The algorithm has the structure which is composed of data verification and development and can enhance the data quality Also a hourly weighting function is introduced for maintaining load shapes. The load composition rates of specific industrial customers are obtained and the results of case studies show that a reasonable load composition rate is achieved. Additionally qualify function deployment (QFD) is introduced to enhance quality and reliability of data.
The load model representation needs the load composition rate which means the portion of several typical load groups. This paper proposes the refined load composition rate estimation considering the the uncertainty of limit values and an energy portion of a load group.

Recently, various researches and projects about electric vehicles are in progress vigorously and continuously and it is expected to penetrate rapidly with the next a few years. This deployment will cause the change of load composition rate affecting on power system planning and operations. Therefore, a new load model should be developed integrating with electric vehicle loads. In this paper, the load composition rate of residential sectors is analyzed considering the deployment of this mobility load such as electric vehicles and a new diffusion model is proposed based on the classification of the replacement patterns. Additionally, electric vehicle charging loads are basically modeled by some individual load experiments to develop new load models for smart place and some new conceptual power systems such as micro grids.

A load modeling, micro method, is performed by component load modeling, load composition rate estimation and aggregation of component load model, etc. The load model obtained from this process must be applied to actual load bus to verify it and to get reliable load model. But it is difficult to apply every load bus due to al lot of load buses and complex experiment. This paper proposed the field test method in load bus to verify the load modeling. For appropriate field test, representative load buses are selected by the proposed algorithm considering the composition rate of user category in all load buses. The field tests were performed at selected load buses to obtain load characteristics of bus by time and seasonal without blackout. The results of measurement and analysis are presented in detail.

Recently, due to the expansion of electric power demands, nonlinear load such as converters and inverters connected to the electric power distribution system, and extensive application of harmonic generation sources with power electric devices, disturbance of the electric power system and its influences on industries have been continuously increasing. In this research, we develop a novel aggregation algorithm by considering the harmonics characteristics for residential loads. Using data sets acquired from various experiments, we analyzed load characteristics according to harmonics and presented the results obtained the proposed method.

The aggregation of group loads, which consists of the linear and the non-linear systems, yields the error involved in the reactive power aggregation, which is greater than the active power aggregation in the component based load modeling. Each individual reactive power in a group load affects the aggregated load different from composition rate. This paper proposes a new method that determines the degree of impacts by adjusting the coefficient of weight factors of each load using the least squares error method. The effectiveness of proposed algorithm is demonstrated by simulating three aggregation cases.
The load forecasting has been essential in planning and operation of power systems. The load composition rata is also needed to analyze power-systems - load flow calculation and system stability. This paper proposes the monthly peak load forecasting methods for load groups in residential class using load composition rate and electric consumption characteristics. The proposed methods were applied to a real-scale power system and the effectiveness was turned out.
Compressed natural gas has good potential for alternative vehicle fuel due to its economical and clean characteristics. However, the composition of natural gas based on production location is known to affect performance and emissions of CNG engine. Thus, the objective of this paper is to clarify the effect of fuel composition on combustion and emissions of CNG engine. This paper presents combustion characteristics obtained from running a 2.5L, 4-cylinder CNG engine retrofitted IDI diesel engine with engine dynamometer. BSFC, emissions, fuel consumption and combustion pressure were measured under steady state operating conditions especially at partial load for CNG engine. Based on the experimental results, we found that CNG composition affects engine performance, fuel conversion efficiency and burning rate.

In power system research fields, one of current key issues is the construction and commercialization of micro grid site which is called green island, carbon zero island, energy independent island, building micro grid, etc. and various affiliated technologies have been being vigorously developed to realize. In addition, various researches about electric vehicles (EVs) are in progress and it is expected to penetrate rapidly with the next a few years. Some new load models should be developed integrating with electric vehicle loads because the EVs' deployment could cause the change of load composition rate on power system planning and operations. EVs are also resources for micro grid as well as distributed generation and demand response so that various supply and demand side resources should be considered for micro grid researches. In this paper, the load composition rate of residential sectors is prospected considering the deployment of EVs and the resource configuration of micro grid is optimized based on net present cost. In the optimization, the load patten of case studies includes EV's charging characteristics and various cases are simulated comparing micro grid environment and normal condition. HOMER is used to compare various cases and economic effects.

The large scaled lead-acid battery is widely used for efficient operation of the photovoltaic system in many islands. However, lithium-ion battery is now being introduced to mitigate the fluctuation of wind power and to replace lead-acid battery. Therefore, hybrid ESS(Energy Storage system) that combines lithium-ion battery with lead-acid battery is being required because lithium-ion battery is costly in present stage. Under this circumstance, this paper presents the optimal algorithm to create composition rate of hybrid ESS by considering fixed and variable costs in order to maximize advantage of each battery. With minimization of total cost including fixed and variable costs, the optimal composition rate can be calculated based on the various scenarios such as load variation, life cycle and cost trend. From simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithms are an effective tool to produce a optimal composition rate.
