In recent years, there have been numerous explosion-related accidents due to military and terrorist activities. Such incidents caused not only damages to structures but also human casualties, especially in urban areas. To protect structures and save human lives against explosion accidents, better understanding of the explosion effect on structures is needed. In an explosion, the blast overpressure is applied to concrete structures as an impulsive load of extremely short duration with very high pressure and heat. Generally, concrete is known to have a relatively high blast resistance compared to other construction materials. However, information and test results related to the blast experiment of internal and external have been limited due to military and national security reasons. Therefore, in this paper, to evaluate blast effect on reinforced have concrete structure and its protective performance, blast tests are carried out with $1.0m{\times}1.0m{\times}150mm$ reinforce concrete slab structure at the Agency for Defence Development. The standoff blast distance is 1.5 m and the preliminary tests consists with TNT 9 lbs and TNT 35 lbs and the main tests used ANFO 35 lbs. It is the first ever blast experiment for nonmilitary purposes domestically. In this paper, based on the basic experiment procedure and measurement details for acquiring structural behavior data, the blast experimental measurement system and procedure are established details. The procedure of blast experiments are based on the established measurement system which consists of sensor, signal conditioner, DAQ system, software. It can be used as basic research references for related research areas, which include protective design and effective behavior measurements of structure under blast loading.
Numerous methods have been applied to assess the antibacterial effectiveness of hand hygiene products. However, the different results obtained through various evaluation methods have complicated our understanding of the real efficacy of the products. Few studies have compared test methods for assessing the efficacy of hand hygiene products. In particular, reports on ex vivo pig skin testing are limited. This study aimed to compare and characterize the methodologies applied for evaluating hand hygiene products, involving in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo approaches, applicable to both leave-on sanitizers and wash-off products. Our further aim was to enhance the reliability of ex vivo test protocols by identifying influential factors. We performed an in vitro method (EN1276) and an in vivo test (EN1499 and ASTM2755) with at least 20 participants, against Serratia marcescens or Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. For the ex vivo experiment, we used pig skin squares prepared in the same way as those used in the in vivo test method and determined the optimal treated sample volumes for sanitizers and the amount of water required to wash off the product. The hand sanitizers showed at least a 5-log reduction in bacterial load in the in vitro test, while they showed little antibacterial activity in the in vivo and ex vivo tests, particularly those with a low alcohol content. For the hand wash products, the in vitro test was limited because of bubble formation or the high viscosity of the products and it showed low antibacterial activity of less than a 1-log reduction against E. coli. In contrast, significantly higher log reductions were observed in ex vivo and in vivo tests, consistently demonstrating these results across the two methods. Our findings revealed that the ex vivo and in vivo tests reflect the two different antibacterial mechanisms of leave-on and wash-off products. Our proposed optimized ex vivo test was more rapid and more precise than the in vitro test to evaluate antibacterial results.

The apparent activation energy Qc, the applied stress exponent n, and rupture life have been determined from creep test results of AZ31 Mg alloy over the temperature range of 200$^{\circ}C$ to 300$^{\circ}C$ and the stress range of 23.42 MPa to 93.59 MPa, respectively, in order to investigate the creep behavior. Constant load creep tests were carried out in the equipment including automatic temperature controller with data acquisition computer. At the temperature of $200^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 62.43~93.59 MPa, and at around the temperature of $280^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 23.42~39.00 MPa, the creep behavior obeyed a simple power-law relating steady state creep rate to applied stress and the activation energy fur the creep deformation was nearly equal to that of the self diffusion of Mg alloy including aluminum From the above results, at the temperature of $200^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ the creep deformation for AZ31 Mg alloy seemed to be controlled by dislocation climb but controlled by dislocation glide at $280^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ .And relationship beween rupture time and stress at around the temperature of $200^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 62.43~93.59 MPa, and again at around the temperature of $280^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 23.42~39.00 MPa, respectively, appeard as fullow; log$\sigma$=-0.18(T+460)(logtr+21)+5.92, log$\sigma$ = -0.25(T+460)(logtr+21)+8.02 Also relationship beween rupture time and steady state creep rate appears as follow; ln$\dot$ =-0.881ntr-2.45

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the joint movements and muscle activities of novices according to pedal type (flat, clip, and cleat pedal). Method: Nine novice male subjects (age: $24.4{\pm}1.9years$, height: $1.77{\pm}0.05m$, weight: $72.4{\pm}7.6kg$, shoe size: $267.20{\pm}7.50mm$) participated in 3-minute, 60-rpm cycle pedaling tests with the same load and cadence. Each of the subject's saddle height was determined by the $155^{\circ}$ knee flexion angle when the pedal crank was at the 6 o'clock position ($25^{\circ}$ knee angle method). The muscle activities of the vastus lateralis, tibialis anterior, biceps femoris, and gastrocnemius medialis were compared by using electromyography during 4 pedaling phases (phase 1: $330{\sim}30^{\circ}$, phase 2: $30{\sim}150^{\circ}$, phase 3: $150{\sim}210^{\circ}$, and phase 4: $210{\sim}330^{\circ}$). Results: The knee joint movement (range of motion) and maximum dorsiflexion angle of the ankle joint with the flat pedal were larger than those of the clip and cleat pedals. The maximum plantarflexion timing with the flat and clip pedals was faster than that of the flat pedal. Electromyography revealed that the vastus lateralis muscle activity with the flat pedal was greater than that with the clip and cleat pedals. Conclusion: With the clip and cleat pedals, the joint movements were limited but the muscle activities were more effective than that with the flat pedal. The novice cannot benefit from the clip and cleat pedals regardless of their pull-up pedaling advantage. Therefore, the novice should perform the skilled pulling-up pedaling exercise in order to benefit from the clip and cleat pedals in terms of pedaling performance.

The purpose of this study is to examine the potential for reducing the environmental load and $CO_2$ gas when cement is produced by using cement substitutes. These substitutes consisted of blast furnace slag, red mud and silica fume, which were industrial by-products. The most optimum mix was derived when alkali accelerator was added to low carbon inorganic composite mixed with industrial by-product at room temperature. It is determined that hardened properties and the results of compressive strength tests changed based on CaO content, Si/Al, the mixing ratio and the amount of alkali accelerator, curing conditions and W/B. The results of test analysis suggest that the optimum mix of low carbon inorganic composite is CaO content 30%, Si/Al 4, the mixed ratio of alkali accelerator $(NaOH:Na_2SiO_3)$ 50g:50g, the amount of alkali accelerator 100g and W/B 31%. In addition, if contraction is complemented, low carbon inorganic composite with superior performance could be developed.

Welded joints and mechanical joints using bolt connection have been used as a pile-to-pile connecting method for PHC piles. These PHC pile joint methods may have difficulty in securing connecting quality and connecting performance in PHC pile joining process. Therefore, this study proposes a non-welded connection plate type mechanical PHC pile joint to improve the disadvantages of existing PHC pile connection methods and to secure the connection performance of PHC pile joint. Its connection performance was evaluated from nonlinear FE analysis and loading tests for actual PHC piles with suggested pile joints. From nonlinear FE analysis for the proposed PHC pile joint, it was evaluated to have sufficient connection performance under flexural, compressive, tensile, shear, and eccentric compressive load condition. PHC piles connected by the suggested connection plate type mechanical PHC pile joint show that they show stable linear behaviors for the crack moment and the flexural moment level of the PHC pile. Therefore, the proposed a non-welded connection plate type mechanical PHC pile joint can secure sufficient connection performance in PHC pile.
In this study, the evaluation of the dynamic behavior and thermal performance of the "Façade integrated Natural circulation Solar Water Heating System" installed in the residential house was carried out. Experimental tests were performed during the all year around in the rural houses of $166m^2$ in size. Facade integrated solar collector of $5m^2$ were installed on the south-facing. Electrical heater of 1 kW capacity as an auxiliary heater was installed at the upper part of the heat storage tank. The analyzing results are as follows. (1) Monthly average solar fraction was 51 to 87% and yearly average value is 64%. (2) Hot water supply temperature in December which has the lowest solar altitude is 37 to $76^{\circ}C$. The highest working fluid temperature of solar collector in this period was below $84^{\circ}C$. The temperature difference of working fluid between the collector inlet and outlet has been shown to be around 9 to $26^{\circ}C$. (3) Overheating which is one of the biggest problems during summer did not appear at all, but rather had hot water supply temperature is rather low as $30{\sim}47^{\circ}C$ in summer than winter, which is supplied by a small solar load. The solar collecting temperature has been shown to maintain below $55^{\circ}C$. (5) The thermal performance of Facade integrated solar collector can be increase due to the reduction of heat loss to the back of the collector wall integration of the collector is reduced. As a conclusion, Facade integrated natural circulation type Solar Water Heating System is a well-functioning without any pumps or controllers, and it was found that the disadvantages of conventional solar water heaters, hot water or hot water system can be greatly improved.
This research investigated the influence of the number of twist on single fiber pullout behavior of Twisted steel (T-) fiber and tensile behavior of high performance cementitious composites reinforced with the (T-) fibers (HPFRCC). Micromechanical pullout model for T- fibers has been applied to analytically investigate the influence of various fiber parameters including the number of twist on single fiber pullout behavior; and, to optimize the number of twist to generate larger pullout energy during fiber pullout without fiber breakage. In addition, an experimental program including single fiber pullout and tensile tests has been performed to investigate the influence of twist ratio experimentally. Two types of T- fiber with different twisted ratios, T(L)- fiber (6ribs/30 mm) and T(H)- fiber (18ribs/30 mm), were tested. T(L)- fiber produced higher equivalent bond strength (larger pullout energy) although T(H)- fiber produced higher pullout stress during pullout since T(H)- fiber showed fiber breakage during pullout. Tensile test results confirmed that T(L)- fiber in high strength mortar generates better tensile performance of HPFRCC, e.g., load carrying capacity, strain capacity and multiple micro-cracking behavior.
In building construction, openings of the story-height deep beams are usually required for accessibility and service lines such as air conditioning ducts, drain pipes and electric units. It is known that the main parameters affecting the load bearing capacity of deep beams with web openings are size, shape, location and reinforcements of openings. However, there have been no pertinent theories and national design codes for predicting ultimate shear strength of reinforced concrete deep beams with web openings. In this study, the shear behavior of simply supported reinforced concrete deep beams with web openings subject to concentrated loads has been scrutinized experimentally. A total of 34 specimens, the geometry of openings, its reinforcements and shear span to depth ratio, being taken as the experimental variables, has been cast and tested in the laboratory. The effects of these structural parameters on the shear strength and crack initiation and propagation have been carefully checked and analyzed. From the tests, it has been observed that the failures of all specimens were due to shear mechanism and the ultimate strength of specimens varies according to the location of openings, by which the formation of compression struts between the loading points and supports are deterred. All of the test results of specimens have been compared with the formulas proposed by previous researchers. The results were closely coincident with the formulas given by Ray and Kong's equation except for some X series specimens having a larger dimension of openings beyond the geometric limits of proposed equations.
Nowadays, some studies have been performed for rockbolt method widely used in Korea. To make large slopes, tunnels or rock structures stable, supporting systems, such as anchor bolt, rock bolt which are developed recently, are commonly used. In this study, laboratory pullout tests were carried out to compare the characteristics of rock bolt that is most widely used with ones of rock bolt by newly developed circular model testers. Re-pullout test for the rock bolt in which loading and unloading cycles are repeated several times showed that the maximum pullout load is almost constant irrespective of the number of loading cycles, which may be due to no failure between rock bolt and filler that is filled with soils and concrete as a substitute. A development of rock bolt fillers as supporters using to protect people in tunnels and slopes is reviewed as a probable man-made hazard after excavation works. The functions of the grouted rock bolts associated with reinforcement effects also should be assessed in this study, which develop the sealing apparatus preventing from overflowing mortar out of a rock bolt hole for securing safety in the tunnel and slopes in order to secure stability named the sealing packer.
