A study of short-term load forecasting in consideration of the weather conditions (대기상태를 고려한 단기부하예측에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes a combined algorithm for short-term-load forecating. One of the specific features of this algorithm is that the base, weather sensitive and residual components are predicted respectively. The base load is represented by the exponential smoothing approach and residual load is represented by the Box-Jenkins methodology. The weather sensitive load models are developed according to the information of temperature and discomfort index. This method was applied to Korea Electric Company and results for test periods up to three years are given.

  • In industrial production settings, scheduling problems for detailed day-to-day operations are often ordeals to production practitioners. For those who have scheduling experiences with the Gantt Chart, the job oriented heuristic scheduling has illustrated its merits in solving practically large scale scheduling problems. It schedules all operations of a job within a finite capacity before considering the next job. In this paper, we Introduce the LSB (load smoothing backward) scheduling algorithm for the job oriented heuristic scheduling. Through a computer experiment in a hypothetical setting, we make a performance comparison of LSB scheduling algorithm with existing algorithms and also suggest a guideline for selecting the suitable algorithm for certain industrial settings.

  • This paper analyzed the characteristics of the demand of electric power in Jeju by year, day. For this analysis, this research used the correlation between the changes in the temperature and the demand of electric power in summer, and cleaned the data of the characteristics of the temperatures, using the coefficient of correlation as the standard. And it proposed the algorithm of forecasting the short-term electric power demand in Jeju, Therefore, in the case of summer, the data by each cleaned temperature section were used. Based on the data, this paper forecasted the short-term electric power demand in the exponential smoothing method. Through the forecast of the electric power demand, this paper verified the excellence of the proposed technique by comparing with the monthly report of Jeju power system operation result made by Korea Power Exchange-Jeju.

  • This paper introduces a basic design for the short-term load forecasting system using a commercial data base. The proposed system uses a hybrid load forecasting method using fuzzy linear regression for forecasting of weekends and Monday and general exponential smoothing for forecasting of weekdays. The temperature sensitive is used to improve the accuracy of the load forecasting during the summer season. MS-SQL Sever has been used a commercial data base for the proposed system and the database is operated by ADO(ActiveX Data Objects) and RDO(Remote Data Object). Database has been constructed by altering the historical load data for the past 38 years. The weather iDormation is included in the database. The developed short-term load forecasting system is developed as a user friendly system based on GUI(Graphical User interface) using MFC(Microsoft Foundation Class). Test results show that the developed system efficiently performs short-term load forecasting.

  • The brake system is important to stop train safely. The train is sloped by regenerative brake and pneumatic brake which are continuously blended at service brake. When service is applied to train, it is controlled by train weight and brake command. The jerk limitation function is applied for impulseless smoothing braking. All brake applications in service condition have a function of the variable load control to keep the braking effort in proportion to each car load. All of control function are performed by brake controller. Therefore, we will propose the design of brake control system in order to control efficiently

  • The electricity supply and demand to be stable to a system link increase of the variance power supply and operation are requested in jeju Island electricity system. A short-term Load forecasting which uses the characteristic of the Load is essential consequently. We use the interrelationship of the electricity Load and change of a summertime temperature and data refining in the paper. We presented a short-term Load forecasting algorithm of jeju Island and used the correlation coefficient to the criteria of the refining. We used each temperature area data to be refined and forecasted a short-term Load to an exponential smoothing method.

  • Short-term load forecasting algorithm using neural networks and the sensitivity of temperatures in the summer season is proposed. In recent 10 years, many researchers have focused on artificial neural network approach for the load forecasting. In order to improve the accuracy of the load forecasting, input parameters of neural networks are investigated for three training cases of previous 7-days, 14-days, and 30-days. As the result of the investigation, the training case of previous 7-days is selected in the proposed algorithm. Test results show that the proposed algorithm improves the accuracy of the load forecasting.

  • A newly-built inverter has to undergo a series of stress tests in the final stage of production line. This can be achieved by connecting it to a dynamometer consisting of a three-phase machine joined by a rigid shaft to a DC load machine. The latter is controlled to create some specific load characteristic needed for the test. In this paper a test method is proposed, in which no mechanical equipment is needed. The suggested test stand consists only of a inverter to be tested and a simulator converter. Both devices are connected back-to-back on the AC-side via smoothing reactors. The simulator operates in real-time as an equivalent load circuit, so that the device under test will only notice the behaviour of a three-phase machine under consideration of the load. In oder to prove rightness of the suggested test method, the simulation and actural experiment carried out emulation for a 2.2kW induction motor.

  • Since the residential load is an AC load and the output of solar cell is DC power, the photovoltaic system needs the DC/AC converter to utilize solar cell. In case of driving to interact with utility line, in order to operate at unity power factor, converter must provide the sinusoidal wave current and voltage with same phase of utility line. Since output of solar cell is greatly fluctuated by insolation, it is necessary that the operation of solar cell output in the range of the vicinity of maximum power point. In this paper, DC/AC converter is three phase PWM converter with smoothing reactor. And then, feed-forward control used to obtain a superior characteristic for current control and digital PLL circuit used to detect the phase of utility line.

Identification of structural systems and excitations using vision-based displacement measurements and substructure approach

  • In recent years, vision-based monitoring has received great attention. However, structural identification using vision-based displacement measurements is far less established. Especially, simultaneous identification of structural systems and unknown excitation using vision-based displacement measurements is still a challenging task since the unknown excitations do not appear directly in the observation equations. Moreover, measurement accuracy deteriorates over a wider field of view by vision-based monitoring, so, only a portion of the structure is measured instead of targeting a whole structure when using monocular vision. In this paper, the identification of structural system and excitations using vision-based displacement measurements is investigated. It is based on substructure identification approach to treat of problem of limited field of view of vision-based monitoring. For the identification of a target substructure, substructure interaction forces are treated as unknown inputs. A smoothing extended Kalman filter with unknown inputs without direct feedthrough is proposed for the simultaneous identification of substructure and unknown inputs using vision-based displacement measurements. The smoothing makes the identification robust to measurement noises. The proposed algorithm is first validated by the identification of a three-span continuous beam bridge under an impact load. Then, it is investigated by the more difficult identification of a frame and unknown wind excitation. Both examples validate the good performances of the proposed method.
