  • The static photoelastic experiment was applied to orthotropic materials. And then the specimens used in photoelastic experiment were fractured under static load. The static photoelastic experimental hybrid method for orthotropic material was introduced and its validity had been assured. Crack propagation criterion used the stress components, which are considered the higher order terms, obtained from the static photoelastic experimental hybrid method was introduced and it was applied to the minimum strain energy density criterion, the maximum tangential stress criterion and mode mixity. Comparing the actual initial angle of crack propagation with the theoretical initial angle of crack propagation obtained from the above failure criterions, the validities of the above two criterions are assured and the optimal distance (${\gamma}$) from the crack-tip is 0.01mm in order to get the initial angle of crack propagation of orthotropic material(C.F.E.C.).

  • Three-dimensional panels are one of the modern construction systems which can be placed in the category of industrial buildings. There have always been a lot of studies and efforts to identify the behavior of these panels and improve their capacity due to their earthquake resistance and high speed of performance. This study will provide a comparative evaluation of behavior of updated three-dimensional panel's structural components under lateral load in both independent and dependent modes. In fact, this study tries to simultaneously evaluate strengthening effect of three-dimensional panels and the effects of system state (independent, L-shaped and BOX shaped Walls) with reinforcement armatures with different angles on the three-dimensional panels. Overall, six independent wall model, L-shaped, roofed L-shaped, BOX-shaped walls with symmetric loading, BOX -shaped wall with asymmetrical loading and roofed BOX-shaped wall were built. Then the models are strengthened without strengthened reinforcement and with strengthened reinforcements with an angle of 30, 45 and 60 degrees. The applied lateral loading, is exerted by changing the location on the end wall. In BOX-shaped wall, in symmetric and asymmetric loading, the load bearing capacity will be increased about 200 and 50% respectively. Now, if strengthened, the load bearing capacity in symmetric and asymmetric loading will be increased 3.5 and 2 times respectively. The effective angle of placement of strengthened reinforcement in the independent wall is 45 and 60 degrees. But in BOX-shaped and L-shaped walls, the use of strengthened reinforcement 45 degrees is recommended.

  • Objectives: This study compared the mechanical properties of various instruments for canal exploration and glide-path preparations. Materials and Methods: The buckling resistance, bending stiffness, ultimate torsional strength, and fracture angle under torsional load were compared for C+ file (CP, Dentsply Maillefer), M access K-file (MA, Dentsply Maillefer), Mani K-file (MN, Mani), and NiTiFlex K-file (NT, Dentsply Maillefer). The files of ISO size #15 and a shaft length of 25 mm were selected. For measuring buckling resistance (n = 10), the files were loaded in the axial direction of the shaft, and the maximum load was measured during the files' deflection. The files (n = 10) were fixed at 3 mm from the tip and then bent $45^{\circ}$ with respect to their long axis, while the bending force was recorded by a load cell. For measuring the torsional properties, the files (n = 10) were also fixed at 3 mm, and clockwise rotations (2 rpm) were applied to the files in a straight state. The torsional load and the distortion angle were recorded until the files succumbed to the torque. Results: The CP was shown to require the highest load to buckle and bend the files, and the NT showed the least. While MA and MN showed similar buckling resistances, MN showed higher bending stiffness than MA. The NT had the lowest bending stiffness and ultimate torsional strength (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The tested instruments showed different mechanical properties depending on the evaluated parameters. CP and NT files were revealed to be the stiffest and the most flexible instruments, respectively.

  • Architectural market in the world is trying to develop Zero Carbon Buildng that doesn"t use fossil fuel. Residential building that thermal load such as heating and domestic hot water is over 70% in energy consumption is easy to make Zero Carbon Building compared with office building that is mainly electric load. So, As a preliminary for analyzing the effect of Solar thermal system in the building, an annual energy consumption of residential building and total heat loads are calculated. Based on this result, three alternatives of solar thermal system for hot water and heating are applied in the building while installation area is increasing. Solar thermal system is applied on balcony and roof of apartment building as the way to reduce thermal load. In the first case that solar thermal system for hot water is applied on the balcony, optimum installation area is $56m^2$. And you could install $40m^2$ of this system in the roof that angle is $30^{\circ}$. In the second case of solar thermal system for heating and hot water, you can install $40m^2$ on the roof. As a result of economic evaluation, the most economical application method is to install $40m^2$ of solar thermal system for only hot water on the roof of the building. At that time, you can payback the initial investing cost within 10 years. And carbon emission of this method can be reduced until about 4 ton per year.

  • When grains is subjected to oscillating load, the dynamic viscoelastic behavior of the material will be describe the complex modulus of the material. The complex modulus and therefore the storage modulus, the loss modulus, and the phase angle for the sample should be obtainable with a given static viscoelastic property of the material under static load. The complex relaxation moduli of the rough rice kernel were computed from the Burger's model describing creep behavior of the material which were obtained in the previous study. Also, the effects of cyclic load and moisture content of grain on the dynamic viscoelastic behavior of the samples were analized. The storage modulus of the rough rice kernel slightly increased with the frequency applied but at above the frequency of 0.1 Hz it was nearly constant with the frequency, and the loss modulus of the sample very rapidly decreased with increase in the frequency on those frequency ranges. It was shown that the storage modulus and the loss modulus of the sample increased with decrease in grain moisture content. Effect of grain moisture content on the storage modulus of the sample was highly significant than effect of the frequency applied, but effect of the frequency on the loss modulus of the sample was more significant than effect of grain moisture content.

  • In this paper, the carriage load analyses of stores installed on aircraft are conducted to validate the chimera grid method applied to an unstructured CFD solver, UMSAPv. First, the chimera grid method of UMSAPv is verified for the well-known Eglin Wing/Pylon/Finned store problem. Next, an angle of attack sweep of F/A-18C clean configuration is conducted at a subsonic speed. The computed results are compared with the results of the previous study using MSAPv, a structured CFD solver, to show the validity of Umsapv. Finally, the carriage of F/A-18C JDAM is carried out with a chimera grid as well as a single block grid. The computed results are compared with other computational, experimental and the flight tests.

  • There is risk of derailment due to various factors such as vehicle-track load imbalance in curved parts, so urban railways install and operate derailing prevent guard rails. The angle-type derailing prevent guard rail is composed of various parts including the guard angle. Even if derailment does not occur, various damages occur in the components, so continuous maintenance is required. Through the damage status analysis, the components of the angle-type derailing prevent guard rail with high damage frequency were classified, and conditions for the occurrence of various damages were investigated. In addition, a numerical analysis using a precise 3D numerical model was performed to analyze the cause of the damage analytically. In order to analytically simulate the derailment situation, the static ultimate load condition was applied, and the actual drawing of the angle-type derailing prevent guard rails, rails, and wheels was used for modeling. By analyzing the results of the damage status investigation and finite element analysis, we tried to investigate the damage of the components.

  • This paper presents an improved method to estimate the maximum load level for heavily loaded power systems with the load-generation variation vector by using the elliptic pattern of the P-e curve. The previous study suggested a simple technique of removing e-f coupling, where only high voltage load flow solutions to calculate transforming angle of system reference is needed. The proposed algorithm is improved to require only one load flow solution at a specific load level in addition to the operating point at the beginning stage, which reduces the computation time and the iteration number of estimation. The proposed method can be efficiently applied to heaviIy loaded systems with the combination of CPFlow when the reactive power limit and ULTC are considered. In this paper, the effect of ULTC on the estimation of maximum loadability index is also investigated. The proposed algorithm is tested on New England 39 bus system and IEEE 118 bus system.

  • One major concern that has occupied the mind of the designers is a structural failure as result of stress concentration in the geometrical discontinuities. Understanding the effective parameters contribute to stress concentration and proper selection of these parameters enables the designer get to a reliable design. In the analysis of perforated isotropic and orthotropic plates, the effective parameters on stress distribution around holes include load angle, curvature radius of the corner of the hole, hole orientation and fiber angle for orthotropic materials. This present paper tries to examine the possible effects of these parameters on stress analysis of infinite perforated plates with central quasi-square hole applying grey wolf optimizer (GWO) inspired by the particular leadership hierarchy and hunting behavior of grey wolves in nature, and also the present study tries to introduce general optimum parameters in order to achieve the minimum amount of stress concentration around this type of hole on isotropic and orthotropic plates. The advantages of grey wolf optimizer are stout, flexible, simple, and easy to be enforced. The used analytical solution is the expansion of Lekhnitskii's solution method. Lekhnitskii applied this method for the stress analysis of anisotropic plates containing circular and elliptical holes. Finite element numerical solution is employed to examine the results of present analytical solution. Results represent that by selecting the aforementioned parameters properly, fewer amounts of stress could be achieved around the hole leading to an increase in load-bearing capacity of the structure.
