  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of parent-child communication, and the self-efficacy of middle school students on school adjustment. The data was collected from 285 middle school students living in Kwangju. For statistical analysis, Cronbach' $\alpha$, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's multiple Comparison Analysis, LSD and hierarchical regression analysis were used. The results were summarized as follows : concerning connections between demographic variables and parent-child communication, the education of the father made the most significant difference, followed by living standard, free time for communication with the father, and free time for communication with the mother. The level of communication with parent made a significant difference to each sub-factor of school adjustment. As a result of making a hierarchical regression analysis to find out the relative impact of the demographic variables on school adjustment, self-efficacy was identified as the most important variable and predictor of school adjustment. The independent variables exercised a different influence on the sub-factors of school adjustment. These results indicated that adolescent's self-efficacy is the most important variable to improve the school adjustment of students.

The results of this study were as follows: (1) A majority of the elderly (49.8%) acknowledged psychological age as actual age. (2) The degrees of the elderly's existential identity was 54.90, while the degree of the elderly's psychological well-being was 33.07. Through these criteria, we could analyze people's perceptions of the current rural life. We would like to present this study as a base for improvement for those who seek a better life in a rural environment. The result of this study is as follows; The specific goals and need of our target group depend on individual characteristics, occupation and age etc. Therefore, the support system should sensibly consider their personal needs. In addition to this, the flow of information between these people should be changed from theoretical perspective to factual perspective. The new rural tenants obtained information on rural life mostly from private channels such as their acquaintances. Organizations responsible for providing information do not offer useful factual information on agrotechnology and financial support. Nevertheless, they are mainly focused on conceptual and ideological information.

  • Purpose: International efforts to save Earth's environment against global warming and environmental pollution have been made in many countries. Energy consumption of buildings has been continuously increasing, and it has been over 40% of total energy consumption in the world. Energy consumption of buildings in Korea reaches 24% of total energy consumption. So, Korea government has executed building energy rating systems to control energy consumption of buildings. Method: This study was carried out to evaluate the energy performance of apartment unit plans according to converting balconies into living areas. For the study, six types of input models were made. Two input models(SP1 and SP 2) were the standard units that balcony areas were not converted into living areas, and four ones(EP 1, EP 2, EP 3 and EP 4) were the extended unit plans that balcony areas were turned into living areas. All of them were simulated with ECO2 software to assess building energy efficiency. Result: According to the results, the energy performance of the EP 2 and EP 4 models were 21. 8% higher than SP 1 model and 9.2% higher than SP 2 model.

  • The present experiment was carried out to observe the effect of Korean ginseng extract on the blood picture of mice that have been infected with Sarcoma-180. The observation of standard group was made for 2 days, 7 days, 12 days, 15 days after the injection of Sarcoma-180 and the observation of ginseng extract group was made at 15 days after the injection of Sarcoma-180 and simultaneously with oral adminstration of ginseng extract every day for 15 days. 1. For 15 days after the injection of Sarcoma-180 in the standard group, the numbers of R.B.C. and platlet were not changed significantly, but the number of W.B.C. increased at the first stage, and then decreased suddenly after the middle stage. However, the number of W.B.C. was not severely decreased in the ginseng extract group. This phenomenon is estimated that ginseng extract assisted for W.B.C. to protect living body. 2. Serum protein picture of standard group was appeared as a nonselective protein losing pattern, and ginseng extract group was likely that of standard group, but it was not severe than that of standard group. This phenomenon is believed that ginseng extract gave some delay or immunization for Sarcoma-180 mouse against the development of Sarcoma-180. 3. Serum cholesterol quantities of standard group increased gradually until middle stage, but decreased in the last stage. But serum cholesterol quantity of ginseng extract group showed a slight increase. What the decrease of cholesterol quantity in the last stage of standard group is caused especially by the decreased intaking of feed among many causes, it may be the cause of intaking not decrease of feed in ginseng extract group, as the ginseng extract gave the Sarcoma-180 mouse some resistance against the development of Sarcoma-180. 4. Along with developing of Asrcoma-180 in the standard group, serum total lipid quantities increased, and $\\alpha-, \\beta$-lipoprotein quantities showed decrease phenomenon, but pre $\\beta$-lipoprotein quantities increased rapidly. The value of ginseng extract group was appeared the value in the first stage of standard group. This phenomenon was also estimated that ginseng extract protected the living body according to above theories, and that ginseng extract gave the Sarcoma-180 mouse some resistance against the development of Sarcoma-180.
