In this paper, for developing and implementing the HLS(Http Live Streaming) transmitter based embedded linux which is operated easily and cheap and lower power, portable in all networks and client environments compared to exist video live streaming transmitters. We design the developed HLS transmitter hardware using the Arm11 core and then porting the Embedded Linux OS(Operating System) and implementing the HLS protocol using the open source FFmpeg and Segmenter. For proving the performance of developed HLS transmitter, we make the testing environment for testing the performance of HLS transmitter including the notebook, iPhone, android Phone, Notebook and then analysis the received video in the client displayer. In this paper, we suggest the developed HLS transmitter performance data values higher than the Apple company's HLS recommended specification values and the picture of developed HLS transmitter operation in the testing environment. The application field of this paper result is that the man who works in the emergency situation take HLS and transmit the live emergency situation to the head quarter using this portable HLS.
In recent years, a high-quality video input device has been generalized, and a central control system capable of simultaneously viewing video input in real time has become an essential element. At this time, there are attempts to access through the web without installing the program separately. However, if multiple high-quality videos are simultaneously viewed through the web browser, the web browser is terminated by force. In this paper, we propose a web-based HLS(HTTP Live Streaming) multi-view system for real-time high-definition video. We have reconstructed the multi-view screen as a screen by transcoding and implemented a system that can monitor multiple video inputs through a web browser on the fly without using security vulnerability ActiveX.
The objective of this paper lies in the design and implementation of a home gateway supporting live video streaming which flows from the Non-SIP video camera in home to the mobile SIP device outside. We developed the home gateway on the OSGi framework and employed the RTC technology which embeds an SIP stack so that the multimedia session can be established from the home device to the mobile user outside. And also we developed an RTC bundle to manage the session and a virtual capture device driver to read the video stream from the Non-SIP video camera in the home network, and installed them on the home gateway. Finally, we constructed the experimental environment that has the windows messenger as the SIP mobile device and an AXIS 2100 UPnP video camera as a video source, and then tested if the session establishment to the mobile user from the camera and live video streaming work well between them.
In this paper, the dynamic buffering based smart OTT platform was proposed, and analyzed for adaptive bit-rate video delivery with the optimization of HLS (HTTP Live Streaming). This platform consists of the software platform between sever and client which detects the bandwidth capacity, and adjusts the quality of the streaming for multiple bit-rates resolutions. In order to apply adaptive buffering, two buffers are added to the basic HLS player, and each buffer is responsible for constantly buffering a previous and the next channels relative to the current channel. This adaptive transmitting with smart OTT platform is superior to delivering a static video file at a single buffering, because the video stream of adaptive double buffers can be switched streaming according to client's available network speed. As a result, this proposed smart OTT can be cooperated to the application of HLS server with segmented H.265 MPEG-2 TS video & m3u8 files with its information based on the optimized transmission channel state of live and VOD, and applied to PLC transmission, too.

In this paper, we address the channel zapping time problem of video streaming services based on HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) on smart Over-The-Top Set-Top Boxes (OTT STBs). Experimental analysis of the channel zapping time, show that smart OTT STBs inevitably suffer from the accumulated zapping time through channel change request, Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) leave/join, synchronization delay, video buffer delay, and STB processing delay when providing HLS services. As a practical solution for the zapping time reduction, an adaptive buffering method is proposed. The proposed method exploits two adaptive buffers added to the basic HLS player. These two adaptive buffers are responsible for constantly buffering previous and next channels relative to the current channel. Implementation and test results show that a stable zapping time less than one second can be achieved even under diverse video bitrate changes and varying network conditions by the proposed adaptive buffering method.

In the last few years, a new type of synchronous social networking services (SNSs) has emerged—social live streaming services (SLSSs). Studying SLSSs is a new and exciting research field in information science. What information behaviors do users of live streaming platforms exhibit? In our empirical study we analyzed information production behavior (i.e., broadcasting) as well as information reception behavior (watching streams and commenting on them). We conducted two quantitative investigations, namely an online survey with YouNow users (N = 123) and observations of live streams on YouNow (N = 434). YouNow is a service with video streams mostly made by adolescents for adolescents. YouNow users like to watch streams, to chat while watching, and to reward performers by using emoticons. While broadcasting, there is no anonymity (as in nearly all other WWW services). Synchronous SNSs remind us of the film The Truman Show, as anyone has the chance to consciously broadcast his or her own life real-time.

Many works have attempted to solve the scalability, the availability, and the low-latency problems of peer-to-peer (P2P) live video streaming; yet, the problems still remain. While tree-based systems are vulnerable to churn, the mesh-based systems suffer from high delay and overhead. The DHT-aided chunk-driven overlay (DCO) [1] tried to tackle these problems by using the distributed hash table (DHT), which structures into a mesh-based overlay to efficiently share the video segment. However, DCO fully depends on the capacity of the users' device which is small and unstable, i.e., the users' device may leave and join the network anytime, and the video server's bandwidth can be insufficient when the number of users joining the network suddenly increases. Therefore, cloud assist is introduced to overcome those problems. Cloud assist can be used to enhance the availability, the low-latency, and the scalability of the system. In this paper, the DHT is used to maintain the location of the streaming segments in a distributed manner, and the cloud server is used to assist other peers when the bandwidth which required for sharing the video segment is insufficient. The simulation results show that by using the threshold and cloud assist, the availability and the low-latency of the video segments, and the scalability of the network are greatly improved.
The recent surge in live streaming has also changed the market for classical performing arts. Now more than just recording live performances, content specific to live streaming platforms is being produced, and live streaming is emerging as a new alternative to promoting and enjoying classical performances. Therefore, this study empirically analyzed the effect of service quality factors of the classical live streaming performance on the viewer satisfaction and the purchase intention of the on-site performance over the data collected from 198 viewers. Results suggest that, among the service quality factors of the classic live streaming performance, video content, convenience, and price, except for real-time interaction, affected the viewer satisfaction, and viewer satisfaction in turn affected the purchase intention of the on-site performance. Thus the publicity effect of live streaming for classical performing arts seemed to be proved.
N-Screen service has experienced rapid business expansion recently, since consumers' watching patterns have been diversified; also business stakeholders including broadcasting companies, internet service providers, and device manufacturers have joined this field. In order to operate N-Screen service in a stable manner, development of advertisement system where it generates continuous advertisement profit is needed. Especially for a streaming service that delivers live TV programs, the new advertising system has to deliver ads in conjunction with the live streaming system that is in use. In this paper, video advertising system that is congenial to N-Screen is proposed. Both real time video/ad converting scheme and direct video ads delivery function were developed and tested. In addition, ad contents management and statistics management functions have been developed for advertisement managers. This system was implemented in a commercial N-Screen service and it is currently being used for delivering video advertisements.

Adaptive bitrate streaming is a crucial element in the implementation of high-quality streaming of media content over the Internet. Dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH) has lately emerged as the de facto solution for over-the-top (OTT) video streaming services. In this paper, we perform macro-level analysis on a real-world MPEG-DASH-based Internet live broadcasting service to gain insight into its behavior throughout the end-to-end service-provision chain, from broadcasters to viewers. Based on this analysis, we propose methods to improve the quality-of-experience (QoE) of MPEG-DASH-based services, particularly with regard to reducing broadcasting delays between recording and viewing of videos, as well as synchronizing client terminals.
